The Sun was created AFTER the Earth in Genesis 1.
Therefore, the Sun is YOUNGER than Earth.
The third rock from the sun IS Earth and it is THOUSANDS of years old. About 6,000 or so, like the rest of the universe.
visible light is part of the spec.

Should i better be off believing it was just 2,000 years.?
Why would you believe something so silly?
Do you think that Jesus walked the Earth days after Creation?
No, Jesus walked the Earth about 4,000 years after Creation. Then, 2,000 years have passed since Jesus to today.

We know from history that there were people for several thousands of years (4) before Jesus was born.

The Earth is about 6,000 years old.

Incorrect!

The Earth is 6,000 years old according to the Biblical timeline.
The current earth-heaven age, is around 6500-7,000 years old, from the time of Adam n Eve.

The planet earth, and the universe, are WAY OLDER then that!

The time from Jesus' birth to his death? About 33 years.
i think it's interesting that the Bible doesn't give an exact age for Jesus, even tho in other places scripture gives us time down to the exact hour.

Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry.
(Luke 3:23)
When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him,
“Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him.”

(John 4:52)

apparently some measures of time, God wants us to know definitely.
other measures of time, only approximately.
still others, He chooses not to tell us at all.

a day is 1,000 years
Well the verse that gives understanding on the issue does not say that exactly in it's entirety..

2 Peter 3: KJV
8 "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."

Both statements are true because Gods time is not linked or dependant on our time.. One day for God can be for us 1000 years and a 1000 years for the Lord can be for us, 1 day..

2000 years? It used to be 6000 I saw a documentary about a settlement found in Turkey 20 years ago with stones similar to stonehenge and carved with assorted animals estimated to be 11000 years old making it the earliest settlement ever discovered anywhere. There was speculation as to whether its the site of Eden

So according to this interpretation God took 6000 years to create everything and Jesus was in the wilderness for 40000 years.
This is the kind of thing you get when using hyper literalism. God exists beyond time and space

even longer if on Venus, one day on Venus equals 243 earth days.

Today I realized the earth is really 2,000 years old. I thought it was more than that.
Hello Poinsetta,

Just curious as to why you would think that the world is only 2000 years old? Jesus was crucified 2000 years ago and there is much human history prior to that.

From my understanding, mankind has been on the earth for approx. 6000 years.

Also, the way that it is stated in Genesis regarding the creation, the earth was already here without form and empty and completely covered with water. Therefore, the six days of creation doesn't include the creation of the earth itself, but everything on it, as well as the sun, moon and stars being created on the fourth day. In fact, the earth existed before everything else.

The conclusion then is that, we don't know how long the earth has been here. But we know that mankind and all that was created during the six days, has been here for 6000 years.
