I have heard those who cannot speak pray in tongues due to being deaf.
Yes this is true.
We have a substantial group of 60+ profoundly deaf saints in The Philippines who are all able to pray out loud in tongues and
use this to witness to others with disabilities ...

The simple truth boiled down.....when a simple definition of a word is denied....the conversation devolves into a bias approach with no honesty or honest dialogue.......end of story

The holy spirit is given to all who are born of God, God promised this spirit as a pledge. John the baptist also said Jesus would baptise wiht the HS. This represents spiritual cleansing. It is not somethign christians pray and ask for. It happens the moment they believe.

Once the Holy SPirit baptises you, then you are annointed with the spirit. He gives gifts, Each to who he may desire.. Tongues is one of the gift he has given..
WRONG wrong wrong simply untue
Also many Christian churches do not teach this - so how can it be universal?
What evidence can you provide to show the alleged truth of your supposition?
Jesus declared that true believers would have signs following their belief and conversion.
Acts clearly identifies speaking in tongues with Holy Spirit baptism.
The epistles go on teach disciples to understand the gifts and working of the Holy Spirit individually and in the church: again
many references to the same signs; healing, prophecies, miracles, the POWER of God in a believer's life.

It does not take exegesis to undersrand a word definition....surely you are smarter than that??
actually if you build your understanding on "word Definition" without having the full context that is wrong. And the Authorial intent will not be established clearly for proper interpretation, application. If have to be smarter than that, then please I will prefer not to learn from you.

Do you drink poison, raise the dead, cure disease or just "SPEAK IN JIBBERISH CALLED TONGUES" we already know the answer
