Paul is making a point there. Keep reading till the next chapter where Paul concludes his argument.

Romans 3:9-28
What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
Their feet are swift to shed blood:
Destruction and misery are in their ways:
And the way of peace have they not known:
There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

As you can see. Paul is building up to his point, which is clear later on in Romans!

This is similar to some people being HARDSTUCK in acts 2:38! KEEP READING!
Context is important. I have already thoroughly covered Romans 2:6-10 with JPT numerous times in the past and just recently again in posts #90,444 and #90,449, but unfortunately, he is more interested in promoting “works righteousness” than he is in accepting the truth (and sadly, he is not the only one). :(

Wrong.

"I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." (1 John 5:13)
Also, Romans 8:16: "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God"

But that would be the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit Himself (Thats the Holy Spirit, imo) bears witness with OUR spirit (some other spirit?, human spirit?)
The Spirit being the very nature of Christ. Our New Nature. The very reason we can be called holy, righteous, sinless. and perfect. Literally, God in us.

You can read the whole book of Romans and it keeps saying the same thing.

No amount of scripture is going to somehow undo what Romans 2:6-8 says, because all born again Christians will stand before our King on the Day of Judgement to be Judged according to our deeds.

Don’t you understand that?

Hasn’t anyone ever told you that before?

It’s simply the truth.

All the scriptures you can come up with in all the Bible will not change this irrefutable, undeniable truth.

  • eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;

God, who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, Romans 2:6-8

again

  • For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ,

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences. 2 Corinthians 5:10-11

Where’s your scripture that says Christians who live immoral lives are righteous and holy?

Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 1 John 3:7

Here is who the Bible says is righteous -

  • He who practices righteousness is righteous

That is who the Bible says is righteous.

You have been lied to brother by preachers who desire for you to keep coming to Church and paying your tithes and devoting yourself to giving of your time and effort for free labor.

Please wake up.

anybody know what our spirit is?
Now that is a very deep question.......

to simplify the answer in earthly electronic terms I would say our spirit is the Receiver that God sets on a frequency that ONLY receive Truth from God. It cannot receive anything that is not true.

Human reasoning distorts the truth which causes confusion and doubt. Human reasoning rejects truth in order to justify the flesh because it doesn’t want to obey God.

Human reasoning relies on the 5 senses in order to justify truth.

This Spirit of Christ within us. :)
Great answer, Budman!

We know Yeshua/Jesus Christ is Truth and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.........

Only the Spirit of Christ in us can recognize, receive and know Truth.

I would say the born again divine nature we are given at the new birth is capable of knowing, discerning and recognizing truth.

Actually even before we are born again we must obey the truth, by the grace of the Holy Spirit, but nevertheless it is up to each of us to obey the truth.

  • you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit

Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 1 Peter 1:22-23

Why do you always think you're right and we're supposed to just fall over and listen and obey what you believe?

In Romans,,,,
What works is Paul speaking about?
Can there be two different types of works in the N.T.?

Was Paul a pharisee and did he know the law had to be followed?
Was Paul saying to disobey the law he had followed all His life and which Jesus said He was NOT ABOLISHING?

as SOME on this thread enjoy doing...

anybody know what our spirit is?
Our spirit is our spirit, it is the part of us that connects to the Holy Spirit, it is what is regenerated, born again.

We are body, soul and spirit, but the spirit is disconnected from God because of our death in Adam until we are regenerated from above.

John 5:28-29 makes it very clear that our deeds will indeed be judged.

In fact, everywhere Jesus speaks of doing good....I do not hear about salvation but about doing good deeds.

Of course we know that we must be born from above as Jesus states in John 3:3....or the good deeds we do are worthless...

However, it does point out the fact that to Jesus good deeds are important to our salvation.

John 5:28-29 Jesus said:
28“Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice,
29and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

It appears in this view we are not transformed into His likeness, purified and whole, it is Christ within
no matter how sinfull we are makes us holy, pure blameless. In this version we can enter heaven
as sinners for the same logic and live as sinners in eternity. Not going to happen. Next :)

Yes ma’am.

All of us should be encouraging each other on towards doing what is right which is loving God, by loving our neighbor, which involves doing good to people.

That is what the Doctrine of Christ is all about.

Loving God, and loving our neighbor.

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

If we are loving people and doing them good, we will not be stealing and lying or coveting what they have.

Acts of love towards others is expressing the righteous Life of Christ dwelling within us.
