Deade,
re: "God and the Jews count the start of a day at sunset."
Yes, that is one of the conditions for this topic.
re: "You traverse all these forums looking for something you can't even properly define."
I've defined it just fine. Why do you say I haven't?
re: " You are looking for idioms referring partial days to full days."
I'm not.
1. The Messiah said that He would be three days and three nights in the "heart of the earth".
2. There are some who believe that a calendar day began and ended at sunset.
3. Of those there are some who think that the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week with the resurrection taking place on the 1st day of the week.
4. Of those, there are some who think that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb or at the earliest to the moment when His spirit left His body).
5. A 6th day of the week crucifixion/1st day of the week resurrection allows for only 2 nights to be involved.
6. To account for the lack of a 3rd night, some of those mentioned above say that the Messiah was employing common figure of speech/colloquial language.
7. I simply asking for anyone who falls in that above group of believers to provide examples to support that belief of commonality; i.e., instances where a daytime or a night time was forecast or said to be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could have occurred.
re: "Why waste our time with you unclear probes?"
What is unclear about it? And how am I wasting your time? You're the one that decided to weigh in with your off topic comments.
I would ask what does the metaphor "heart of the earth" represent? Does it represent a living sacrifice as suffering in ones spirit in jeopardy for another, called as a metaphor drinking of the blood?
I would suggest because we must compare the spiritual understanding to the same, or faith to faith with a understanding hid in parables. The two parables (Jonas and the Son of man, Jesus) should be compared in order to get a proper understanding.
Matthew 12:38-40 King James Version (KJV) Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it,
but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Once we understand "For as Jonas was" in the fish's belly which equals a living hell. We can then compare it to "for as the Son of man, Jesus was heart of the earth which equals a living hell as a living sacrifice in respect to the Spirit of Christ who cannot die.
Jonah 2 King James Version (KJV)Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish's belly, And said, I cried
by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and
he heard me; out of the
belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
I think part of the problem is how we view hell and suffering . I would think because when a person gives up the spirit of essence of life . The temporal corrupted spirt return back to the father of all spirit life while the lifeless spiritless body return to the dust of the field where it was formed of . Only in the newheaveans and earth will those who have ben given a new spirit and new heart rise up to receive the propmise of a new incorruptible body .
The dead cannot suffer .They have no body or spirit by which they could do anything.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the
dust return to the earth
as it was: and the
spirit shall
return unto God who gave it.
For as the
body without the spirit is dead, so faith
without works is dead also.James2 :26
Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou
return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for
dust thou art, and unto
dust shalt thou return.
The key to reconciling the two parables, Jonas and the Son of man, Jesus or the belly of the whale and the heart of the earth is in "even
unto death" Not dead. But a living suffering beginning in the garden of gethsemane on Thursday. Completing the demonstration called the heart of the earth on the first day of the week. The new area of Sabbaths the day he said let their be light in respect to his new creation as children of light a reflection of his hidden glory the holy place.
Matthew 26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even
unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
