garee,
re: "Jonas describes the living sufferings of hell perfectly. It began on Thusday for Christ."

Again that is an issue for a different topic. This one is really directed to those who believe the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week.

Deade,
re: "God and the Jews count the start of a day at sunset."

Yes, that is one of the conditions for this topic.

re: "You traverse all these forums looking for something you can't even properly define."

I've defined it just fine. Why do you say I haven't?

re: " You are looking for idioms referring partial days to full days."

I'm not.
1. The Messiah said that He would be three days and three nights in the "heart of the earth".
2. There are some who believe that a calendar day began and ended at sunset.
3. Of those there are some who think that the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week with the resurrection taking place on the 1st day of the week.
4. Of those, there are some who think that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb or at the earliest to the moment when His spirit left His body).
5. A 6th day of the week crucifixion/1st day of the week resurrection allows for only 2 nights to be involved.
6. To account for the lack of a 3rd night, some of those mentioned above say that the Messiah was employing common figure of speech/colloquial language.
7. I simply asking for anyone who falls in that above group of believers to provide examples to support that belief of commonality; i.e., instances where a daytime or a night time was forecast or said to be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could have occurred.

re: "Why waste our time with you unclear probes?"

What is unclear about it? And how am I wasting your time? You're the one that decided to weigh in with your off topic comments.
I would ask what does the metaphor "heart of the earth" represent? Does it represent a living sacrifice as suffering in ones spirit in jeopardy for another, called as a metaphor drinking of the blood?

I would suggest because we must compare the spiritual understanding to the same, or faith to faith with a understanding hid in parables. The two parables (Jonas and the Son of man, Jesus) should be compared in order to get a proper understanding.

Matthew 12:38-40 King James Version (KJV)
Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Once we understand "For as Jonas was" in the fish's belly which equals a living hell. We can then compare it to "for as the Son of man, Jesus was heart of the earth which equals a living hell as a living sacrifice in respect to the Spirit of Christ who cannot die.

Jonah 2 King James Version (KJV)Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish's belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

I think part of the problem is how we view hell and suffering . I would think because when a person gives up the spirit of essence of life . The temporal corrupted spirt return back to the father of all spirit life while the lifeless spiritless body return to the dust of the field where it was formed of . Only in the newheaveans and earth will those who have ben given a new spirit and new heart rise up to receive the propmise of a new incorruptible body .

The dead cannot suffer .They have no body or spirit by which they could do anything.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.James2 :26

Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

The key to reconciling the two parables, Jonas and the Son of man, Jesus or the belly of the whale and the heart of the earth is in "even unto death" Not dead. But a living suffering beginning in the garden of gethsemane on Thursday. Completing the demonstration called the heart of the earth on the first day of the week. The new area of Sabbaths the day he said let their be light in respect to his new creation as children of light a reflection of his hidden glory the holy place.

Matthew 26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

I thought we were defining as the subject three days and three nights? The crucifixion part of that three day three nights metaphor began on Friday . The garden part where the suffering began when the father poured out his wrath of the Son of man unto death (not dying) and the Son of man suffered crying out for relief and the father sent angels to strengthen him to finish the work of the two . The metaphor 3 days and 3 nights began on Thursday .

Basic information from the Gospels.
The crucifiction occurred during the Passover week. It begins and ends with an annual Sabbath. The gospel references the Sabbath he was crucified before as a high day aka annual Sabbath, high day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Thus the most likely events are Wednesday crucifixion buried just before sunset to avoid the Sabbath, Thursday Sabbath high day, Friday, Saturday the Sabbath Jesus resurrection in the evening. Sunday morning the empty tomb

Currently Israel starts the day at sunset. I was there for work and stayed at a hotel run by religious Jews. Friday afternoon they set up a large table with a free buffet since the restaurants in the hotel would be closed for the Sabbath.

I have given him these time references and he still says that is a different subject. He isn't really asking what it seems he is asking. He has been at this two years with the same ol' -- same ol' -- Just give up on this guy. Here is his object:

6. To account for the lack of a 3rd night, some of those mentioned above say that the Messiah was employing common figure of speech/colloquial language.

This colloquial language contains an idiom that defines 12 hrs. as a day. He wants someone with a teaching of Friday crucifixion to explain how all that fits. In other words take a falsehood and explain it into reality. It can't be done.

garee,
re: "I would ask what does the metaphor 'heart of the earth' represent?"

For the purpose of this specific topic it represents the tomb. Is that what the Messiah meant it to mean? Maybe, maybe not. It doesn't matter because this topic is directed to anyone who thinks it is referring to the tomb. If you want to disagree with that thinking, then you should start a new topic.

I'm going to assume that by "him" you are referring to me. So I reply by asking how those time references show examples where a daytime or a night time was forecast or said to be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could occur?

'Ponder this'..."Because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know."

If your question is to everyone, my understanding is the crucifixion was the eve of a sabbath, what sabbath I cannot say.

JaumeJ,
re: "If your question is to everyone..."

It's to anyone who thinks the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week, and thinks a calendar day began at sunset, and thinks the "heart of the earth" in Matthew 12:40 refers to the tomb, and who explains the lack of a 3rd night in the tomb by saying that the Messiah was using common figure of speech/colloquial language of the time.

Jesus did not hint at the time He would be in the tomb, no, He said it plainly.

As for sheol and the pit, I have never given it a thought. It is the Lamb of Yahweh Who has my attention, and His teaching towards and in His Way to Truth and Life.

Israel still use the day starting at sunset. I answered it in 746. I gave the example of the religious Jews running a hotel in Israel. I stayed in one for several weeks for work.

In antiquity the day started at sunset and Israel today still does that. I have taken several trips to Israel for work. I normally stayed at a hotel run by religious Jews. Read my post 746.

Endoscopy,

You still haven't said what I'm ignorant about. What is it?
The fact that the start of the day starts at sunset in Israel. I went there to work several times. The first time I landed on the last Passover Sabbath. The airport services were mostly shut down. I was able to rent a car but that was about it. I went to the hotel I was staying at but it get food I had to go to a non religious restaurant. The hotel was run by religious Jews. Later when the Sabbath was the next day they set out a large buffet table on Friday afternoon. At evening the Sabbath started and their restaurant and other non essential services were closed.
