Fear - If paul feared losing salvation

continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
Philippians 2:12-14

If Paul says we need to have fear and trembling, what is this about?
Is fear wrong, a sin, a lack of faith or rightful respect and acknowledging our debt and powerlessness before
our Lord?

It sounds like this statement is too black and white.......
Paul did not say work earn your salvation, he said work out the salvation that is already in you

Why? Because the world is wicked, and we are to be lights, so,we should work out that salvation and not do something which would snuff out that light, be to be without reproach.

Again pauls fear is his light wouod be snuffed out to he would not be able to be a teacher of the word and draw people to christ, thats what he feared.

He never feared losing his salvation, that would contradict his own main message.

...But not all the Israelites ACCEPTED the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has BELIEVED our message?” Consequently, FAITH COMES FROM HEARING THE MESSAGE, and the message is HEARD THROUGH THE WORDS OF CHRIST. Romans 10:16-17

If FAITH ALONE saves, those of rocky soil heard and received and therefore were saved.

If they were saved but did not bear fruit because they have no root and fell away when trials came, will they remain saved?

Did the bible say that no one who has FAITH can lose their FAITH?...that they cannot be deceived? Will those who will be deceived still remain saved?

...At that time MANY WILL TURN AWAY FROM THE FAITH and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and DECEIVE many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but HE WHO STANDS FIRM TO THE END WILL BE SAVED...For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles TO DECEIVE even the elect—if that were possible. Matthew 24:10-13 & 24

...THE SPIRIT CLEARLY SAYS that in later times SOME WILL ABANDON THE FAITH and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 1 Timothy 4:1

According to OSAS "Faith ALONE saves". If faith is lost by being deceived and turning away or abandoning that faith, do you still remain saved?
AMEN....PAUL worried about becoming unusable....NOT losing his salvation which is ignorant

It is impossible for us to have attained salvation without having recieved our new glorified body.

False again.......do you even study the bible or just flippantly shoot ignorantly from the hip?

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy has he saved us <--PAST TENSE

In the grace you are, having been saved out of faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God and not of works lest any man should boast <--PAST TENSE

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. <--Present tense

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. <----Present tense

I suggest you start studying the word of God and be honest with what it teaches...especially a PERFECT TENSE GREEK VERB.......open your eyes to the truth.....

You know...come to think of it I have not seen you quote one verse yet.....HAVE YOU even quoted one verse? I could have missed it because so far I skip over most of your drivel

You obviously cannot read or comprehend English............try again and this time be honest with what I said........I cannot believe how many people will respond and TWIST the context of what one states to make mouthy flippant comments...

Kind of like the Pharisees encompassing land and sea to make a proselyte and in so doing making a two fold child of hell.....

Go figure out what that means and get back to me when you can be honest!!
Let me repeat my question: Can believers be led to the pit? But you have not answered.
Religious fallacy you refer to is unclear and you do not elaborate.

Maybe you have created your own religious fallacy, which when the light is shone on it, it disappears.
I get the sense only when we meet the Lord will the truth become very clear.

We stand here before our Lord. It is His words that will stand in judgement on us in the last day.
Are we listening now or just prefer our sinful compromises?

Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

God chose us because he knew we would use our free-will to choose to cooperate with his grace.
can you explain why God chose Simon, knowing that Simon would 'use his free will' to deny Him, to presumptuously tell the temple treasurers that He pays a tax He is absolutely free from, to speak as Satan urging Him not to take up His cross, and to argue with Him & deny His direct commandment in visions?

why did God choose Lot, knowing that Lot would argue with every single thing the angels told him, and have to be forcibly dragged out of Sodom by the hand?

too bad i wasn't clever enough to choose the right path, like you. i might have had an easier time meriting His favor! i find His grace irresistible - i reckon you also have stronger willpower than me.

Paul was worried that some of them may be deceived just like eve was deceived.

...But I AM AFRAID that just as Eve was DECEIVED by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be LED ASTRAY from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:3
what exactly was Paul's fear?
that he had '
wasted his efforts' on them? ((re: Galatians 2:2, 4:11))

A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
1 Peter 3:15-16

"your drivel" "just flippantly shoot ignorantly from the hip"

We are ambassadors of our Lord. An ambassador reflects the person they represent.
Are you representing yourself and your opinion or someone else?

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Colossians 3:12

So please can I encourage you to follow Jesus and walk in His ways.

DUDE.

Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me! Can any of you prove Me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe Me? Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.
(John 8:43-47)
you CANNOT HEAR the message unless you belong to Him.

you CANNOT see the kingdom unless you are born again -- of a different Father

You know what.....Jesus, John, Paul, Elijah used sarcasm and very pointed statements when ignorance was evident.....it is not unbiblical so please...mind your own business or get any log you may have in your eye out before you judge me and for one second think about instructing me....

White washed coffins willed with the bones of dead men
Generation of vipers and snakes
Blind leaders of the blind
Satan is your Father
Get behind me Satan
Maybe your god is sleeping or on a journey

etc........

And it is drivel.....the bible is clear...salvation is a given at the moment of belief, is spoken of in all three tenses, and has a present continuing result from a past completed action........

WHY NOT REBUKE HER for saying I AM NOT SAVED ABOVE.................IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE consistent

How is it that one can read WORK OUT and really see WORK FOR............I mean some of the things I see people post....I just shake my head and think, how can you possibly see that when there are SOOOOOOO many verses that contradict that or even context itself points clearly to the fact that he is not talking about earning salvation.....

Sure Dcon.
Keep preaching...
Keep allowing some to become lost because they believed YOU and not the word of God...Jesus.

@Hevosmies is smart...he likes to understand things of God on his own and not parrot what you say like some on this thread do.

It's good for us to understand scripture on our own.
You mislead the saved into false doctrine.
We will see Fran....your doctrine = the same the MANY peddle....Lord Lord have we not done......

There is where you are wrong....I get what I believe from the bible.....and no....what you peddle--->A losable salvation maintained by man is a Catholic thing that has been taken by all of her daughters and is peddled in pulpits world wide.....
This is a religious fallacy. Salvation is only losable if you have it.
You need to define what salvation is, and then from this definition, its permanence or possible loss is obvious.

Some claim salvation is a declaration of belief.
Others it is a walk according to certain principles
Others it is a spiritual birth that is eternal and irrevocable.
Others it is a promise to be fulfilled in the future.
Others it is going from death to life in the present.
Others it is a communion.

Some mix all these things together, others hold one or more is critical.
So the answer is complex, and needs humblness, care, love, grace, gentleness, the Holy Spirit, commitment,
faithfulness, and more to begin to come close the to the balances involved.

I can only know my walk with my Lord, and it is here that my obligation lies.
So I wonder about the encouragement to judge others, condemn them and claim I know more.

My Father, Abba Father, I just love. I desire to know Him more, what does that make me?

If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
John 14:23

Is there something wrong with Jesus's teaching?

MY quote -->AMEN Billy................I love the Greek.....it sets us free from the religious fallacies that lead many to the pit....

NOW.....show me where I SAID that BELIEVERS can be led to the PIT and if you cannot understand my quote that is not my fault...it is clear.....the RELIGIOUS, just like the PHARISEES were MAKING people 2 fold the CHILDREN OF HELL by their DOGMA......JUST like the RELIGIOUS false religions ALWAYS HAVE and DO to this day.
