We know we have enough works when all we do we do for God. Colossians
So everything you do 100% of the time is for God? What you said sounds like what the Mormons teach. In 2 Nephi 25:23 in the Book of Mormon, we read - For we labor diligently to write, to persuadeour children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.

In other words, do all you can or else the Lord will not be able to save you?

That’s not what we read in God’s word in Ephesians 2:8,9.

Sometimes you make me laugh MMD.
I don't know what the mormons teach.

Here's what I know:
Colossians 3:23
23Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,

And I can't help it if you don't understand what I post.
I can try in Italian...
Spanish?

My dialect?

THE PATH IS NARROW BECAUSE IT'S DIFFICULT!

You seem to get everything backwards!
;)
The path is narrow because it’s trust 100% in Christ as the all sufficient means of your salvation or else 100% lost. It’s not difficult to understand, just difficult to ACCEPT.

Yes, work heartily for the Lord because we are saved and not to become saved. It’s our reasonable service. We are saved FOR good works and NOT BY good works.

How about remaining saved?
You don't believe in obeying God?
Do I have to post 10 verses AGAIN?

Colossians
Isaiah 42:8
"I am the LORD, that is My name; 'I will not give My glory to another', Nor My praise to graven images.

Hello forum, Fran's grace plus works to maintain salvation gospel is a copycat version of the Pharisee's of Jesus' day's, "beautiful on the outside but inside 'full of dead men's bone's." She is a person with no assurance of salvation, no joy that passes all understanding, and no peace that our Heavenly Father would never leave us, and that we will always be His beloved children.

So if we don't trust in the Lord 100% we can be lost!!!!!!

Wow. YOU are the pharisee!

HOW MUCH trust do we need to be saved!!!!!

So now we need the right amount of:
FAITH
WORKS
TRUST

Uffa.

Up above you said sanctification does require effort on our part.
Then please tell me why.
Because we have been set apart to do good works.
And that we will do
Not to be saved though.
But as Jesus said "If you love me you will"

Not to be saved though.
But as Jesus said "If you love me you will"
I can't take this anymore.

So if we DON'T, it means we don't love Him.
We MUST do good works.
There's no choice.
This is what God wants from us.
To CONTINUE to be saved.

The problem is that you don't believe salvation can be lost.
So every other theological concept has to revolve around this.

If you'd accept the biblical fact that salvation can be lost...
everything else would fall into place.

But you say that works keep us saved.

Then does that not negate what you say above?
I said ONLY works do not save.
ONLY FAITH saves.

Works are an outcome of our salvation...
HOWEVER...
We MUST do them.

God does not make requests...
HE DEMANDS.

This seems very clear to me....
See the post I just sent...
the problem is regarding OSAS.
This unbiblical belief messes up everything else.

So James is trying to teach us how to look good to men?
There are two types of faith?
It seems to me that James is talking about DEAD faith,,,
not some dimension of faith.

So what is "saving faith".?

Your theology sure does bring up a lot of questions.
No John is not saying to look good before men.
The Pharisees did that.

John is talking about how genuine faith will show up.

The Bible does not talk about obtaining salvation by works or remaining saved by works. From beginning “have been saved through faith” (Ephesians 2:8) to end “receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls” (1 Peter 1:9) salvation is by grace through faith and is not by works.

@BillG

Don't you see that the word MUST is what's dividing us?
Why does that word bother you so much?
Does God request?
The Israelites did not enter the promised land because of DISOBEDIENCE.
Isn't God the same yesterday, today and tomorrow?

I have to leave soon...

can you get saved again though? Usually those who believe you can lose it, also teach you can gain it back. Which is the opposite of What Hebrews 6:4-6 and hebrews 10:26 says

Because it does, Jesus never said you must. He said "If you love me you will"

Big difference for me.

OK MMD.
What happened to Ephesians 2:10
You always leave that out.

Oh. I know.
We work because we're saved...
not to get saved.

Seems to me everyone on this thread is a saved person..
so if we could stop saying that redundant sentence maybe we could actually move forward.

So we work because we're saved and because we love God.

Nice.

So when the N.T. speaks about doing good works/deeds ---
it's just making a request....
Jesus and the writers are REQUESTING us to do Christianly good works/deeds?
Mathew 25
Jesus was REQUESTING us to feed the hungry and cloth the naked and visit the sick, etc.

Talk about Jesus being a weak God as @dcontroversal always tell me is the Jesus I believe in.

No. The Jesus YOU and he are talking about is a weak Jesus.
He doesn't even know how to DEMAND OBEDIENCE.

CEO's know how to demand obedience!
Jesus is not even THAT strong!!!
:(
