Daniel is told that 70 weeks (490 years) is determined to finish the transgression.
After 69 weeks (483 years) the Messiah will come.
After 62 weeks (434 years) Messiah will be cut off.

How do you explain this.

Now some of you folks can say for certain that Daniel 9:27 is proof that the anti-Christ will sign a seven year peace treaty with Israel and will break it after 3 1/2 years, so why can you not answer this question?

Daniel is told that 70 weeks (490 years) is determined to finish the transgression.
After 69 weeks (483 years) the Messiah will come.
After 62 weeks (434 years) Messiah will be cut off.

How do you explain this.
The Bible says that 70 weeks are determined upon the nation of Israel to make an end of sins, and anoint the most holy, who is Jesus.

Which means Israel as a nation has to be in the truth that Jesus is their Messiah by the end of that 70 weeks, which 69 weeks have passed.

The reason that it dates before Jesus came to include some years is because Israel was not in the truth as a nation before Jesus came, for if she were in the truth before Jesus came then the Roman Empire would of never been able to be in Israel asserting any control over her for God said that when they were in the truth no enemy could prosper against her.

Since Israel as a nation is not in the truth then the 70th week could of not been fulfilled yet.

Which the Bible says that Israel is blinded in part, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in, when salvation is no longer available to them, and so all Israel shall be saved for God will turn them to the truth in the future.

Jesus came unto His own, but His own did not receive Him, and God gave them space to repent, and turn to the truth, but they did not so God allowed the Roman Empire to defeat them, and scatter the Jews in to the nations, so Israel did not come to the truth in the first century.

The Jews were scattered in to the nations so they could not of come to the truth then.

Israel became a nation again, 1948, and to this day, they do not acknowledge the truth, so the 70th week has not been fulfilled.

The 70th week is when God causes all people that do not love Him to follow the beast kingdom in Revelation, which the new age movement paved the way to the beast kingdom(1 Timothy 4:1-5;2 Timothy 4:2-4), that has an interpretation of the Bible, and all religions, based on the occult, and evolution, and people can still evolve, and brings Israel to the truth that Jesus is their Messiah.

God said He is going to gather the whole house of Israel, all 12 tribes, and cause them to all go back to Israel, and leave none of them in the nations anymore, and they shall know the LORD their God from that time forward, and He will never hide His face from them anymore, which means Israel shall be in the truth from that time forward, and never stray again.

Some think it is a past prophesy, or concerning the Babylonian captivity, but if that were true then Israel would of been in the truth from that time forward, and would of never rejected Jesus, and would be in the truth today.

So it is a future prophesy.

The man of sin, New Age Christ, will establish peace in the Middle East, and it will pave the way for all Jews to go to Israel, which the Gentile nations will cause that to happen, and that is what the man of sin wants for them all to be back on their land, and in one place, but God means it for good towards the Jews.

The Jews will rebuild their temple, and go back to animal sacrifices, for they are still blinded in part, with no hassle from the Palestinians, and the Jews will split Jerusalem with the Palestinians.

The Gentile nations will come together and say Peace and safety as they try to establish peace on earth, and the 7 years period will begin.

During the first three and one half years repentance, and salvation, are still available to the Gentiles, and the world will be split in to ten sections with a leader in each section.

The ten horn kingdom shall fail at providing peace, and the war between Islam and the world was so terrible that the world turned to the New Age Christ as the solution to have peace on earth, and the ten horns hand their power over to him, and that is how he gets control of the world.

The man of sin will step in to the Jews temple, and tell them to stop animal sacrifices, and claim to be their God, and Messiah.

He will address the world and claim to be God by harnessing the power of nature, and obtained power, evolved, and will share this power with all who follow him, and when they take the mark of the beast, which has to do with technology, then repentance, and salvation, are not available to them, and the fulness of the Gentiles will have come in.

God will then turn Israel to the truth that Jesus is their Messiah for the last three and one half years, and at the end of that time Israel as a nation will be in the truth fulfilling the 70 weeks.

The saints will be resurrected, and the New Age Christ and the world will attack Jerusalem, the Jews, and Jesus will come back with the saints, and defeat the world, and save Israel, for all Israel shall be saved.

The 70th week has not been fulfilled yet, because Israel as a nation has not been in the truth that Jesus is their Messiah from the time Jesus was on earth to this very day, and at the end of the 70 weeks they have to be in the truth that Jesus is their Messiah.

So the 70th week is a future prophesy.

Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince, There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times.

Fulfilled when. jesus. Enntered jerusalem riding on. A donkey. Just as prophesied. By the prophet.

Zechariah 9:9 The Coming King
9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.

26 “And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;

Fulfilled on the cross. The word “after” comes from the hebrew a word which means to immediately follow. Or to come directly after

And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.

Fulfilled in 70 AD almost 4 decades after the 69th week had ended (so we already have an issue in timing. Which is known to many theologians as a prophetic gap. Where we are giving a list of events which happen in order. But if we look from a side view. We see gaps. Or periods of time which are not seen or mentioned in the prophesy. As seen when Christ read from a scroll an OT prophesy, where he stopped in the middle of th eprophesy, and stated today was that day. But the rest of the prophesy as of yet has still not been fulfilled. Yet in the OT prophet when given no gap or period of time between these two could even be determined, they would have been seen as one event.

The prince who is to come, his people will destroy the city and sanctuary, this again was fulfilled some 4 decades after the 69th week/

The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined.

This speaks of a period of time which is not given or yet to be determines, Where war desolations will continue In matt 24. Jesus spoke of wars and rumors of wars. Were kingdom will rise against kingdom and nation against nation. I believe Jesus spoke of this period of time,

27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;

This is the prince who is to come. He shall confirm or create a covent with many. Many believe this is between Israel and Islam or the arabic states, alowing Israel to build a temple, for which the prince who is to come will use.

But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,

In the middle of that 7 year period. The prince who confirmed the covenant will commit the abomination fo desolation spoken of by Jesus again in Matt 24 where he said the people can see it standing in the holy splace (it did nto occure in 70 AD in other words as many say_ where he warned the people of jerusalem to flee

Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the [l]desolate.”

At this point we are told that for a determined amount of time, Consumation will be poured on the desolate. We know this time to be the last 3. 5 years. At which point, we are told. Christ will return himself. Because if he did nto no flesh would survive. At this time, Jesus also will set up his kingdom.

There is a difference of 49 years, and that period was assigned to the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the temple

So what Daniel was saying is that from the time that Cyrus gave the commandment to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the crucifixion of Christ was 483 years, out of which 49 years were allotted to the rebuilding under Ezra and Nehemiah.

So if we take 30 AD as the year of Christ's crucifixion, we go back to 453 BC as the year when the commandment went forth. However in order to arrive at this Ptolemy's chronology (which is generally followed) must be adjusted downwards by 83 years. And Ptolemy's chronology was not as accurate as Bible chronology.

That is incorrect. The Hebrew word translated as week literally means a heptad (a period of seven) and so 70 x 7 = 490 years. 483 years have been fulfilled. Seven years are yet future and include the reign of the Antichrist for 3 1/2 years.

Daniel's prophesy is key in understanding the whole bible.

The 62nd week and the 69th week in those verses is essentially one and the same week only that the 62 weeks is separated from the initial 7 weeks. The interpretations that have been offered thus far can not explain this- that Jesus comes and is 'cut off' in the same week because they are wrong.

Most people see 'cutting off' to mean Jesus' crucifixion, well it doesn't mean death of Jesus, it means much more than just the death of Jesus. The messiah being 'cut off' as explained in Isa53:8 means death and more- it means a whole generation is unaccounted for. In this case it means 33 years will be unaccounted for in the calendar in line with what was prophesied of the antichrist thinking of changing times and seasons.

Trust me, our current calendar doesn't take into account 33 years of Jesus' life on earth. It is there but it is not there again.

Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
Dan 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

70 x 7 = 490 days --- (a day = year in prophesy) ---Eze 4:6, Num 14:34.
When was the beginning? The starting event was a decree from Persian King Artaxerxes authorizing God’s people (who were captive in Medo-Persia) to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the city. The decree, found in Ezra chapter 7, was issued in 457 bc—the seventh year of the king (verse 7)—and was implemented in the autumn. Artaxerxes began his reign in 464 bc.
Dan 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
So from the command to rebuild Jerusalem until the Messiah is 69 weeks. 7+60+2= 69.
Does it fit History? Yes! Moving ahead 483 years (69 prophetic weeks) from the fall (autumn) of 457 bc reaches the fall of ad 27. (Note: There is no year 0.) The word “Messiah” includes the meaning of “anointed” John 1:41. Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38) at His baptism (Luke 3:21,22). His anointing took place in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar (Luke 3:1), which was ad 27. And to think that the prediction was made more than 500 years before! Then Jesus began to preach that “the time is fulfilled.”
only 1 week left for the Jews.
Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Unto the end of time desolations are determined.
the Jews haven't had real peace since this prophesy was given.
Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Jesus was “cut off” or crucified “in the middle of the week,” which is three and a half years after His anointing—or the spring of ad 31. Please notice that the gospel is revealed in verse 26: “After the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself.” No—praise God!—when Jesus was cut off, it was not for Himself. He “who committed no sin” (1 Peter 2:22) was crucified for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3; Isaiah 53:5). Jesus lovingly and willingly offered His life to save us from sin.
The covenant is His blessed agreement to save people from their sins (Hebrews 10:16, 17). After His ministry of three and a half years ended, Jesus confirmed the covenant through His disciples (Hebrews 2:3). He sent them first to the Jewish nation (Matthew 10:5, 6) because His chosen people still had three and a half years remaining of their 490-year opportunity to repent as a nation.
They began preaching the gospel to other people and nations of the world (Acts 13:46).
Stephen, a righteous deacon, was publicly stoned in ad 34. From that date onward, the Jews, because they collectively rejected Jesus and God’s plan, could no longer be God’s chosen people or nation. Instead, God now counts people of all nationalities who accept and serve Him as spiritual Jews. They have become His chosen people—“heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:27–29). Spiritual Jews, of course, include Jewish people who individually accept and serve Jesus (Romans 2:28, 29).

457 bc -- 69 weeks -- 27 ad -- 1 week -- 34 ad.
It all fits perfectly

No where does it say that the last week is moved into the future. the last week clearly talks about Jesus and His death which has happened. The antichrist is not talked about in these verses.

If I came across as arrogant , I do apologize. I respect your post and agree with most. But we do disagree on the 70th week events.
It is that the question I asked seems to never be addressed when discussing the 70th week.

I Believe the key is often missed. Verse 25 mentions that the wall will be built.
If we study Nehemiah we learn that the wall was dedicated 53 years after the decree to return to Jerusalem.
If we add those 53 years to the 434 (62 weeks) we have 487 years.
Jesus was crucified during the 487th year of the 70th week.
Daniel simply was using two different event as the starting point to the conclusion of two events that would take place during the 70th week.

I believe that the 3 1/2 year ministry of Jesus where He offered Himself to the Jews as their promised Messiah. and also lade the ground work for His church is a part of the 70th week.
I just do not see where one can ignore that
When Daniel addresses the final days in Daniel 12, he mentions 1260 days, 1290 days, and 1335 days, but not seven years.
I believe that when the man of sin is identified, the final half of the 70th week will begin, the first half being the ministry of Jesus.

I know most, if not all, will disagree with me, but that is the conclusion I have come to after many years of study,
I may be wrong, but the same can be said of all of us.

Thank you for the apology. This is one of my favorite subjects, and it is sad that I can not participate because we have so many “Know it alls” who do nothing but insult their opponent, and make it so you have to leave because you can not deal with it. If we disagree we disagree. But it is nice to talk to others. You may learn something you did not hear before, which makes you think. Alot I have learned over the years came from people forcing me to think and study.

There are many dates in which people like to use as the starting point. But we must make sure to make sure we have the correct date. You mentioned 53 years and added those to the origional 62 weeks. Do yu mind showing me where you get 53 years, I see 53 days (yom) not 53 years (Yamim) used in Nehemiah chapter 6 (I had to look it up to test this, I used my resources to look up the exact hebrew word used, and then looked up the meanings in multiple hebrew dictionaries/lexicons.

Any way the decree was given in Nehimiah 2. We know this date if we add 7 plus 62 weeks (69 weeks) we come to the exact date Jesus entered jerusalem just as the prophet said he wuld be introduced.

Jesus even mentioned that if they knew what day this was. The time of his coming, Which they coud know by these specific prophecies. But as he said, now it will be hidden.

Again, less then 7 literal days later he was “cut off” again, as prophesied.

As far as the 3.5 year ministry and groundwork for the church in th efinal half of the 70th week. First your 3.5 years off. Second, Messiah was cut off AFTER the 69th week, not th emiddle of the 70th, and third/ The 70 weeks had nothing to do with the church. It had everything to do with israel. And the city of jerusalem. So I personaly believe we should leave context where it is, and not try to add to it, or change it.

As I said, this is my favorite subject. I have spent many years on this I am still learning, and will never think I know it all.. as non of us should One thing I have learned is you can rule out some things as they do not fit. Or one would have to interpret a prophesy allegorically to make that interpretation come true (anything other than literal interpretation to me destroys the purpose of prophesy and makes it possible for any interpretation to be used)

An example would be those who claim Satan was bound and has been bound since the cross. However. If we read. Satan will be bound so he is not able to deciee the nations.. All one has to do is look at the nations the last 2000 years to now satan has massive influence over the nations, thus he could not possibly be bound (he has always been limited in what he can do, and today is no different. The restrainor is still restraining as he always has, But he is not bound.

I am not sure about your last statement, You said the man of sin will be identified first (I agree) with jesus being the first half.

1. What is the event which reveals the man of sin
2. if it happened after jesus died. Why has jesus not yet returned to destroy the final gentile beast (which is who this man is)
3. What about the 7 year covenant which the futur eprince confirms with many? Where does this come into account?

Again, Thank you for a peacefull discussion

The week in Dan 9 is a sabaath week, or a 7 year period.

Seventy weeks would be 70 times 7 = 490 years.

I see what you're talking about there and it blows dispensational theology out of the water. But none of what they teach about Daniel 9 is even remotely close to the truth anyway.

Starting with the fact that none of Daniel 9 deals with rebuilding a temple or earthly Jerusalem. The command to "restore and build" is referring to the tabernacle of David. Act_15:16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

The time from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build the tabernacle of David unto Messiah the Prince was literally 70 weeks - The decree is given, 7 weeks and 62 weeks pass, enter the 70th week - Christ becomes Messiah the Prince. And I think it goes as follows.

After 62 literal weeks, Messiah was to be crucified. That means he was crucified in the 63rd week

At the start of the 63rd literal week, Christ made his triumphal entry and exactly 7 days (1 week) later he rose from the dead. In doing so, he confirmed the covenant God made with Abraham and caused the need for daily sacrifices to cease.

7 literal weeks later, in the 70th week, the day of Pentecost has come and God has exalted Christ to be our Prince and Savior and he has poured his spirit on the people.

All of Daniel 9:24 was fulfilled in those 70 literal weeks.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you believe the coming of Messiah was the triumphal entry (this happens after 69 weeks) and Messiah being cut off is the crucifixion (this happens after 62 weeks).

If this is what you believe, then how does anything that you posted about "49 years were allotted to the rebuilding under Ezra and Nehemiah", remedy the fact that in that screwed up view, Christ was crucified 49 years BEFORE he came?

I did NOT mention the triumphal entry into Jerusalem and bringing that into this prophecy is incorrect.

All it says in Dan 9:26 is "unto the Messiah the Prince". No doubt some have mistakenly assumed that this is about Christ's triumphal entry, but "unto the Messiah the Prince" should be applied to "shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself" (Dan 9:27).

The triumphal entry was followed by the same people joining together and crying "Crucify him, Crucify him". So it was nullified in the rejection of Christ shortly thereafter.

But the crucifixion of Christ is the key event prophesied by Daniel, and corresponds to Isaiah 53. Therefore 69 weeks of Daniel's prophecy ended with the crucifixion of Christ. Then came His resurrection, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and the Church Age. So the 70th week of Daniel will not begin until the Church has been completed and raptured.

The 70th week (7 years) will begin with "the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary", a reference to the Antichrist and the abomination of desolation.

After 62 weeks Messiah will be cut off. What event was this?
