I have wondered who it was that created this Hell that a lot of clergies try to frighten the congregations with. Hell and eternal torment have been a great tool for the churches over the years, especially during the 'Dark Ages' when people that refused to obey the church were put to death and sent to Hell....or were they?

Considering that the Almighty God was the only one that could create anything, it must have been him that created this terrible place of torment and torture, and as Adam and Eve were the last of his creations, our long-suffering and loving God must have created this Hell with malicious intent.

No! No! I can't accept that, I can't accept that God would want to hand over his human creations, no matter what was in store for them, to Satan, his adversary, and not only to hand them over but to create a place where the one that made a challenge against His supremacy, could keep the baddies as a trophy room for all his successes in tempting the weak and willful.

This also raises the thought on an immortal soul: If there is no Hell, and God didn't create man to live for a time and then kill them off to crowd out the Heavenly Realm, which he already had filled with myriads of angels, why did anyone want an immortal soul?

Gee! Sorry if I trod on anyone's toes. No I'm Not, I wuz jist kiddin'!!!!!

Well God does not hand over his creation to Satan. Not does Satan rule hell. Old wives tales.
Jesus does speak of a place of torment which is hell where unrepentant, in generated souls do go. Outer darkness.
A place of no hope, no love, total separation of God. With unquenchable flames.

you state you were saved at birth

no one is saved at birth.

the Bible advises us we must acknowledge our sins and accept that God sent His Son into the world to take our place for the punishment of our disobedience to God

a person is not a Christian until they accept Jesus as their Savior and begin to live for Him

that is the simple explanation of salvation

again, no one is a Christian at birth

I hope you're wearing steel toed boots: You claim: There is NO Hell

I found 54 references (KJV) to Hell. 31 verses in the OT via 10 different books.

Jesus mentions Hell 15 times in the 4 gospels, once in Rev

Luke mentions Hell twice in Acts, James once & Peter twice. Nuff said...

THIS MUST BE HELL DAY ON CC.......I count at least three Threads dealing with hell.........what's next? Oh, yeah, Law v. Grace.......oh, no, wait.......water baptism?

Yes, Jesus did talk about the reality of hell — in fact, He talked about it more than any other person in the Bible. He warned, “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28).

Did He say this simply to scare us? The reality of hell should frighten us, because not one word in the Bible about hell would ever make you want to go there — not if you take it seriously. The Bible speaks of hell as a place of absolute loneliness and despair and hopelessness. It calls it a place of “darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 22:13).

(found here)

Did Jesus ever say anything about hell? I don't believe in ...

Mentions Hell in the KJV, however, what is the definition of Hell, or Hades in the language of the time.

You seem convinced that there is this hell of torment, could you explain it further. Can you get out of Hell once you are there? Tricky Question!!

In my humble opinion a person accepts what Jesus proclaimed, not accepts Jesus himself. It was the ransom sacrifice of Jesus that allows mankind to be forgiven for Adam's Sins: "Through Adam, sin entered into the world and through sin, death."
This ransom sacrifice was offered by God, the creator of all things, including Jesus. So, it is God almighty that we offer ourselves to and signify this by water baptism as Jesus did and all those that follow him.

Now, a child, at birth covered by the Ransom Sacrifice, a sacrifice that was given for the sake of all man's sins, even newborn babies. It is later in life (Jesus was 30 when he dedicated his life to his God and Heavenly father) that a person carries out this act of dedication to God Almighty.

Why do you wonder when the Bible makes it clear that God created Hell for the devil and his angels?

And you should be frightened of Hell if you are not saved. The churches today are not preaching sufficiently on Hell, or teaching the doctrine of Hell.

There's a free on-line vid of '23 Minutes in hell' by Bill Weise. He has Scriptures of everything he mentions. He was shown hell by the Lord bc too many are not acknowledging it and all need to know it is very real.

marakorpa,
I hope this helps. This will be my final reply on this thread. You are free to believe whatever you choose too.

Matt 25:41 Jesus said; Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels
(NOTE: This place that doesn't exist (BECAUSE YOU SAY SO) is in fact real)

2 Pet 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment
(NOTE: Before u play the word game & tell be this place is Tartarus (^Read the WORD^) There are different levels of judgment leading up to the final/White Throne Judgment. That is another debate)

Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire

Matt 10:28 Jesus said; fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell

Matt 13:42 Jesus said; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth

Matt 13:50 Jesus said; And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth

Matt 25:46 Jesus said; And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal

Mark 9:43 Jesus said; And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched

2 Thess:
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire

Rev 16:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death

Maybe, if you can understand the meaning of the "Everlasting Fire", it might help. Hell is not mentioned, as hell only means the grave, the common grave of mankind, whereas "fire" is complete destruction, So the "everlasting fire" of Satan and his angels is complete destruction. In Job, when God asked Satan where had come from, Satan replied "From the vicinity of the earth, from walking up and down on it etc. Job1:7, Satan did not say, 'from the Hell you created for me.

This scripture also proves that Satan still had access to the Heavenly realm, if you read Verse 6 as well as 7.

Could you think of the Loving God creating this imaginary Hell for Satan, who was his arch enemy?

God's Word indicates that "Sheol," or "Hades," refers to something much more than even a large mass grave. For instance, Isaiah5 :14 notes that the Grave, or Sheol,"Has enlarged itself and has opened its mouth wide without limit." Although Sheol has already swallowed, so to speak, countless dead people, it always seems to hunger for more. (Proverbs 30:15,16) Unlike any literal burial site, which can hold only a limited number of t he dead, 'the Grave is never satisfied,' (Proverbs 27:20) That is, Sheol never becomes full. It had no limits. Sheol, or Hades, is thus, not a literal place in a specific location. Rather, it is the common grave of dead mankind, the figurative location where most of mankind sleep in death.

The Catholic religion puts paid to Hell as a place of fiery torment: Consider the situation with Joan of Arc. She was condemned to be burnt at the stake because she was a supporter of the French Pope against the Pope of Rome. Obviously, her "soul" was sent to Hell, then she became a popular and historic figure as time passed so she was then lifted out of Hell, apparently under some "I'll give you two buddies for one goodie" arrangement that God and Satan may have had, and made a saint. Not a bad arrangement, however, the smoke coming off her plaster image in the churches was a bit of a worry.

You'd b surprised at just how many references there are to hell in the Bible, passages that we kinda skip over not realizing it is very real in the spirit. Again, take a look at '23 Minutes in Hell' a vision of hell from a successful CONSERVATIVE brother, it's eye opening to say the least.
