Here's an old, pulverizing the horse, over and over, kind of topic. So bear with me, please, much long-suffering may be required, lol.

I want to address the BDF because it is in this particular portion of forums that this concern surfaces.…

I can almost hear you readers saying…

Get on with it woman. Just say it, lol.

Um, I want to, lol, but I need preface this first in an attempt to weed out what I'm not doing…

I am not asking how you interpret the word with regards women in pastoral leadership. Meaning no offense, to my sisters who are much more educated than I. I totally accept that you can and are being used by God. So no shade to men or to women.

This forum is designed to give our take on the matter. If we don't share our opinions and interpretations, the threads potential for movement ceases to be. Additionally, the BDF is definitely more of a debate platform. I thoroughly enjoy bantering back and forth, examining a matter; it is often educational and edifying, sometimes even entertaining, and sometimes just frustrating, lol. When discussing things, though, opposing views in particular with men, do females need to stay in their lane? .

Eeks, :O ..men nodding and women picking up weapons....

Ducks to avoid sisters who finds that statement archaic, minimizing and just downright offensive and insulting. Please, know that I mean no harm.

Sisters, surely, you have pondered this too, because it is clear that He has given us minds, but He has also given us roles. Yes, He can use us, too, for sure, and in Him we are one. However, our role is different and, yes, limiting in the teaching and preaching of men.

I will stop going on, trying to ease my harsh blow. I just hope you know that I am a woman ready and open to be taught by both my Brothers and Sisters.

Ok, back to where am I going with this?

Ughidy ugh ugh, how do I ask this..

Do you think women, in an open debate forum, discussing biblical doctrine, crosses the line when getting into a heated discussion with the opposite gender? I don't think offering up our own interpretations are considered teaching or preaching, but if we are correcting respectfully of course, Brother's ideas, are we crossing the line?

I also think it an unfair advantage towards females, because a man of God has and should handle verbal discourse differently. I think respect, though, should be given to everyone, but let's be honest, many men will speak less freely when talking to a sister.

With that said, I love partaking here, so if you could just tell me what I want to hear that would be great, hahaha...jk.

Just picking your brains…

As a man, I do not feel threatened when having a discussion with a woman. I actually like having them, as I get new things to think about . In a lot of cases, I am strengthened. I don't mind a good debate either, just as long as it doesn't end up in an argument. As you know, an argument leads nowhere.

I assume that women are approximately half of the Christian
population. It would bother me to think that because of their
gender, I would miss half the thoughts on living a Christian
life. If we look at the world in general, women have taken on
a much larger roll in society than they once did. There are
admirals in the navy, generals in the army, there are CEO's of
large corporations and even women pastors. Perhaps not as
many as there should be but it is somewhat better than it was
hundreds and thousands of years ago. I would hate to think that
we are still in that era. I believe men ought to put muscles away
and put their brains in motion or otherwise we are going to be left
behind. What do you say guys, are you up for it.

I do prefer an honest thoughtful discussion rather than a debate
though. I believe as Christians that will improve our spiritual
journey with God.

Yeah, I do too, meaning I to prefer discussion that considers different views respectfully.

I do see a practical and valid point here Dusty...

That shows value in the voices of all His saints, not just the male ones.

Debate/Discussion with heart and wisdom are my preferred. But a good respectful debate, yay.

Speaking of Yay, glad to know that your hand doesn't automatically go up towards certain parties, simply because they are female.

For sure I can tell you the opinions of men appear to be taken with more respect than those of women in such arenas of study.

I went to a number of communities to see what transpires in such places before joining a few over this past year. The tenor that attaches to replies to those who identify as women in a discussion and compared to men is there. And without exception I should say every one of those communities I visited had a discussion starter making the declaration, or asking the question, as to a woman's fitness to preach.

So in short answer, yes, in my experience as a man , to clarify my own identity in this personal perpective, there is a difference between how women and their opinions in a debate are received. And compared to that of men.

We're expressing ideas which should be weighted by merit and not by gender.

There are lots of women here who express brilliant ideas.

Its not like men have superior intellects or are given an extra helping of the Knowledge of Christ just because they are men.

We're just as dumb as everyone else... lol

Hahaha, that was funny. U know what was spot on...

There are lots of women here who express brilliant ideas.

I couldn't agree more. There are 3, no 5, no 7, here that come to mind. I have learned from them on more than one occasion. There are some that know the word so well, and possess very sound minds.

I just sometimes think as I insert myself in certain equations here, hmmmm, maybe not such a good idea, especially as a woman. It got me to wondering where others stand on this. I guess the answer is that it depends on the scenario and the intentions. I know of at least 500xs, lol, where I should've just shhhhh'd it, Hahaha. But in all fairness, as someone who has often not used her voice, there are times, I probably should have spoke up.

Balance is such a wise concept, lol.

I have no problem with women debating scripture in the BDF.....but obviously men can be gruff and rough at times....so...they best have their big girl pants on and be prepared for some "perceived" heat at times hahhahha ;)

What I can't understand is: why would a woman want equality? The women in my life have an elevated status. Would a woman want to open my doors for me? When instructing those under the leadership of my women, say a mother or a missionary, the woman's word is law. You can transgress and argue with me and be forgiven, you start walking of the female leaders--look out. Correction will be swift and sure.

I have no doubt that the Christian females operating within their God given roles, will be rewarded greater, in the kingdom, than the men. Most women could give lessons on submission and humility. When my wife was driving around the children or the women from the mission, I made sure they obeyed her without argument, her word was law! It would be the wrong time to express their objections. I allowed them to bring up their concerns with me present, but I always backed my wife's word up. We never argued or discussed punishment in front of underlings. We always provided a united front. My wife had greater respect than I did, I saw to it.
