America’s Next Civil War

The United States shows all the warning signs of impending social and political collapse

Everyone in Canada with any power has the same job. It doesn’t matter if you’re prime minister, minister of foreign affairs, or premier of Alberta; it doesn’t matter if you’re the mayor of a small town or a ceo of a major company, if you run a cultural institution or a mine. Canadians with any power at all have to predict what’s going to happen in the United States. The American economy remains the world’s largest; its military spending dwarfs every other country’s; its popular culture, for the moment, dominates. Canada sits in America’s shadow. Figuring out what will happen there means figuring out what we will eventually face here. Today, that job means answering a simple question: What do we do if the US falls apart?

It has never been more crucial to uphold the union. Whether it be conservatives, liberals, black or white, Christian or not Christian, stupid or smart, city slicker or country villain, you have to stand up against the dividing forces threatening our society. Don’t let anybody fool you into believing that division is good. It isn’t.

When the economy of the United States collapses Canada will soon follow. There extreme poverty will occur resulting in civil unrest and total disregard of the law. Hunger, poor health care if any and erosion of government services such as police, public health, garbage removal, sewer and water and shortages of electricity for those that are still able to afford it. Freedom of speech and religion will be a thing of the past as well. Yes, there will be riots in the streets as well.

This economic collapse will degrade the military capability leaving the US and the rest of the free world vulnerable to attack from those countries hostile to the US. The best case scenario is that you and those that you love live just long enough to avoid this self-inflicted catastrophe.

What does the citizens of Canada do if this happens? Say a quick prayer and kiss your freedom goodbye.

I think our Liberal enemies dream big. And they'll have a long hard fall when reality wakes them up. This president isn't a loser. He's a patriot who has the best intentions for this nation. God be with him.

I disagree with that sister. Union for the sake of union, is worthless. You have to be united around something. And there is nothing anymore to unite Americans. The divisions are too great. What do you suggest that Americans can unite around?

Canada is already developing more overseas markets to lessen impact the US would have on our economy.

We'll soon have an oil pipeline to the west coast - LNG project in BC, these are all overseas markets.

Trumps behavior towards its allies and trading partners has not gone unnoticed.

We'll survive.

I gave it a look...

This article is just a diatribe of leftist nonsense.

The Walrus is a left-leaning publication, and the author of the article is a leftist who's written several gleeful articles about America's collapse, and he's even written an entire book about how much he hates Trump.
(It's fine if he wants to hate Trump, but we shouldn't pretend he's objective and unbiased.)

This article makes presumption atop presumption... and that just continues throughout the whole piece.
All things right-leaning are bad, and all things left-leaning are good.
The author also writes some fiction.
I'm not sure how an article speculating on a strange imaginary future constitutes news rather than fiction.

Articles imagining the collapse of America are basically just porn for Leftists.

Virtually anything could happen in the future, in America or any other country...
but that proposition isn't enough to turn a silly article into a smart one.

Without an effective US military force Canada will go down the tubes too. If the economy of the US collapses the military superiority that currently exists will quickly erode leaving both countries vulnerable to attack from those countries that wish to do us harm, namely China and Russia. The use of nuclear weapons for defensive purposes will be a last futile attempt to remain viable. There will be no winners in that type of conflict.

Not necessarily - Canada is part of NATO - any attack on us would bring NATO into any conflict. And with Trump dissing NATO they are liable to look after us rather then the US.

Once the US collapses China don't need to attack the West they can just mop up monetarily with trade - Russia is just gonna stand off and gloat.

The problem is that NATO is just code for the US which supplies most of the military and highly disproportionate funding. If US is no longer part of this organization NATO becomes a shell that would be incapable of defending any country including Canada.

There's not going to be any civil war in the US. The liberals won't touch guns and are afraid of offending people, so all they can do is try to change the laws and that's already what they're doing.

You obviously don't live in BC! Andrew Weaver and his Greens hold the balance of power in the legislature, and they will not allow the pipeline to be twinned. Horgan is conducting a fake poll to get people to support proportional representation, while the Greens, all 3 of them, hold a gun to his head. The ballots are mail in, we are in the middle of a Canada wide postal strike, and they will not extend the deadline for ballots. Last I heard, they had received 7% of the ballots back, with only 10 days to go.

BC is doomed, and being so normally left, and Green, it is not going to change.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Locutus!

As for the US, it is divided, but there is no Mason-Dixon Line. Some areas may be more rural or urban, more black than white or vice versa, more red than blue or the opposite, but it simply isn't as cleanly cut as the first Civil War was.

Just the opinion of another Canadian!

(By the way, why did we lose those country flags in the change over? They were so helpful. I've been assumed to be an American twice lately, once by someone who thought I was too liberal, the other time by someone using it as an insult, because I was so conservative. Nope, just Canadian!)

Folks are saying so many strange things on here whenever they’re running out of valid arguments.

If you don’t agree with them, well, then you’re a liberal and they are ashamed of you for being from the same street, town, county/parish, state, country, planet😄 as they are😁.

One of my favorites is the folks that say if you don’t like #45, then you’re a liberal. That’s so sweet😊😄😁.

That is not all they are doing. They also seek to hinder any conservative progress through the use of the courts. They are using the legal system as a weapon to oppose. They are seeking to intimidate conservatives in public. They are making it physically unsafe for one to be a public supporter of Trump. They attack legitimate demonstrations by conservatives. Those in power let them attack.

And don't think liberals don't know about guns. That shooter in Las Vegas killed a whole lot of conservatives. That shooter in Washington shot up the conservative baseball field seriously wounding one senator. Liberals know all about guns. They just don't want you to have them.

There will be civil war in this country. The left has shown they cannot and will not live under conservative rule. It will probably break up into anarchy first. Which means you better be prepared. Then people will slowly gather with those of like race and mind.

The U.S at this time is an oxymoron. Preaching diversity and boasting of unity.

OK. Trying not to boast, just laying out the facts as to just how powerful the U.S. has been, and continues to be. I think most people know, but this graph video truly illustrates what would happen if the U.S. were to implode. This is why it is so vitally important that leftists are defeated EVERYWHERE they pop their socialist head up.
Look at how quickly China has climbed the ranks! Shudder to think what happens if they become numero uno.

It is apparent others want to see the US collapse. Nothing against the OP, but he loathes capitalism, yet isn't from here, but from the outside looking in he knows it doesn't work here (whatever that means) or at the least he just doesn't like it.

So he wants it gone from here while he lives elsewhere.

Bottom line he desires leftism, socialism, in other words he wants to see the US collapse. It's like other outsiders (not all) they desire to see us fail and see leftist ideology eclipse the planet.

Maybe if we were like Venezuela we'd get his endorsement. Who knows.

P4T, the OP is from Canada. As I said already, we have our own particular kind of politics. Americans think universal health care is socialist and will bring about the collapse of America. And it well may! But in Canada, there is not a person who would go to completely private. The system has its faults, no one would disagree, but it works well for us. No one in Canada goes bankrupt because of a health crisis. Health Care is free! Although, a lot of our government spending goes directly to health care.

Which is part of our problem. Any rational Canadian know we are living in the shadow of the United States. That means economically - your economy booms, so does ours. Entertainment - we watch mostly American shows, and on American networks. Defense - this is the biggest area!

We are a tiny country population-wise! I think 36 million right now. Almost 1/10th the size of the US. But arena wise, only Russia is bigger. How do you defend so much space with so few people? Well, we depend on the US. We cooperate with the US. Northern defence systems for the US are in Canada. Because if some country lobs a missle at you, it will likely go through us, first. We depend on NATO, which is mostly helped by US money and military.

My take on the article was - if something happens to the USA - implosion, economic collapse and ruin, civil war, outside attacks, etc - then what happens to a Canada that prides itself on being a sovereign nation, while being dependent on the US for defence and other things? What will Canada do if the US falls?

Unless a Canadian is delusional or lives under a rock, these are huge issues for us. We do not have a "socialist" economy, we have a mixed economy, and rely heavily on business - small and large, to keep our economy going. Then you get an idiot like Trudeau 2.0, who wants to make us part of the Caliphate, bringing in thousands of Muslims, repatriating people that left the country to fight FOR Isis, plus socializing us more, feminizing us more, and offending Trump with his idiocy about including LBGTQ and indigenous rights in free trade, and you have a recipe for disaster.

The US and Canada have been close friends since the War of 1812. (You know, the one where we won, and burned down the White House - LOL!) We have the longest undefended border in the world. (Which a lot of people with Visas in to the US walked across in the hope of becoming Canadian, because Trudeau invited them!).

What would we do without the US? For now, I think we need to pray America will continue to thrive, that righteousness will return by the will of God, and that we will continue to be friends, and defend the US, as much as a pittance as we contribute.

That is my take on it, anyway!

if I remember correctly, the op is actually originally from the UK? thought I saw him post that somewhere

actually being Canadian myself, I don't agree with all the sentiments expressed in the op but neither do I agree with those who get their undies all in knot because someone has 'freedom of speech' to express themselves, actually the way many Amercians do...including about half the country right now

as far as I know, no one in the US who expresses an anti gov thought or whatever, is taken off to a re-education camp. yet

and frankly, now having had to join one of the health care groups here in the US, let me tell all Americans right now....y'all wish you had Canada's healthcare system.

health care in the US is NOT to be envied and the way hospitals vie for patients and create a bill for simple xrays, is something to be ashamed of

the op is welcome to his opinions concerning Canada and the US but I hardly ever agree with him and this thread is no exception

and he should know that Canada was developing overseas markets long before he thought of immigrating

in fact, Canada has been dealing with China long before the US (as one example) Try 1968...while the US banned trading with China until the early 1970's and didn't get the deals worked out until 1979

yes, Trudeau is one of the worst things that ever happened to Canada, but the US had 8 yrs of Obama playing on the world stage and creating the biggest racial divide the US has seen in many years and it continues. Trudeau is a one worlder and a child at the game IMO

I have the same opinion as Angela when it comes to prayer for the US and for President Trump

I am postive, the US, if still capable, would not sit idly by while Canada was invaded or bombed. a little too close to home, what?

and those hoping for a civil war...by saying there will be one...check out the archives of the last one you had. what a waste of young men and the south has still not fully recovered. only a fool would wish for such a thing and yes I said that
