Daniel Prophecies
Chapter 12

There is much similarity between the invasion and destruction by Antiochus and the army of Caesar. As the prophecy of Chapter 11 moves on, the shift is away from Antiochus and toward Caesar. Remember, Daniel is given 2 prophesies, one of rebuilding of the temple and its final destruction, and of the coming Messiah.

Michael, the great prince who stands guard over the sons of your people
( Michael is the angel of Israel )

(the final phase of the persecution of the Jews, under the Caesars)

at the time of distress, (the Great Trib of around 66.6 AD to 70AD) your people (the
elect of God, since they are those written in the Lamb’s book*) will be rescued.

Christians in Jerusalem fled the city to the city of Pella during a lull in the siege. The commander of Caesar’s army, withdrew for a time, leaving a time of safety for the Christians to flee. The reason for the withdrawal of the army was never explained… it is God’s will at work, fulfilling His prophecy. Not one Christian perished in that siege. No Christian perished. Pella is in the hills/mountains, not far from Jerusalem.....you canGoogle it and see.

* There is the Lamb’s book of the elect and the book of life of all peoples, two books.

2. many of those who sleep in the dust will awake to everlasting life, the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt FIRST RESURRECTION (bodily resurrection of the bodies of saints)

3. and those who have insight (discernment), will shine brightly like the expanse of heaven (the sun) and those who lead the many to righteousness (sound teaching brings the freedom of truth) will shine like stars.

4. this prophecy is sealed (will not be understood by man until it happens at the “end of time” or the “end of THAT time)

5. knowledge will increase (as the time drew nearer, John was given his “Revelation and it increased the understanding of Daniel’s prophecy)

6. “how long will it be until the end of these wonders?

7. Gabriel answers: it would be for a time, times and half a time; (3 ½ years, or 1290 days which is the exact amount of time Jerusalem was under siege) and as soon as they finished shattering the power of the holy people, the power of the Jewish leaders rested in their ministry to the people: offering sacrifice and translating the meaning of the Law and applying it. Their power over the people and the temple ceased finally and forever when the temple was destroyed. Though the cross effectually did this for believers, the destruction of the temple signaled to the Jews that the old covenant was truly replaced by the NEW….and these events WERE completed as Daniels’ prophesy says they would be.

Short version: The POWER of the HOLY PEOPLE was the Temple. The siege lasted 3 ½ years, then the city and the temple were totally destroyed.

8. Daniel asks the outcome of these events and is told in verse 9….

9. basically that this is none of Daniel’s concern, that the prophecy is sealed until that end time when these things take place.

10. there was a time of purification, when God’s people repented and believed, tho the wicked remained in their state just as they do today; and those who had discernment to see the fulfilling of Daniel’s prophecy and Revelation understood what this prophecy was about.

11 and from the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished: - the regular sacrifice was in the temple, the blood of animals which the CROSS abolished (AD33-34?)
and the abomination of desolation is set up: the army of the Caesars reign
there will be 1290 days = 3 ½ years (the beginning of Caligula’s reign marked the beginning of intense persecution of Christians, and as Luke tells us, the abomination of desolation is the army of the Caesars. Caligula’s reign AD 37-41, which puts him very close in the time line of 3 ½ years after the cross. (the time of the ministry of Christ and the year of the cross is not exactly known)

12
how blessed is he who keeps waiting and attains to the 1335th day
**approximately 45 days after the fall of the temple, the bulk of the abomination of desolation (the army of the Caesar) went back to Rome.

1290 days plus 45 days = 1335 days

I see Two 7 year periods in history
1. 3 ½ year of the ministry of Christ, after the cross the gospel is taken to the Jews first for 3 ½ years.
2. 3 ½ years from when John writes Revelation until the siege of Jerusalem begins then a 3 ½ year siege

#7 in Hermenutics signifies perfection, completion and is a period of time in several bible events. I see no reason to suppose that every 7 year, 3 ½ year, 1290 days, etc should be linked to ONE event.

A simple question about Daniel. With two separate times near the end of the book stating the book is closed until the end times. Are those of you pushing your view of what it means saying we are now in the end times?

Yes, the end times identified as last time or last days. They began with the renting of the veil . When Christ it is finished and the first resurrection began, the graves were opened the old testament saint were resurrected , the shadows became sight .

The time of reformation had come. The period of time used as a parable in which previously Jewish Kings. they stood in the holy place the unseen place of God as a abomination. It had come to a close . The new restored order had begun and others besides the Jews with now the Gentiles began to try and populate the Holy place again as unseen reserved for God alone not seen . Today there are many antichrists assuming the Holy place .

1 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

1 Peter 1:20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you

2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

Christ will come as a thief in the night on the last day .No literal thousand years . The thousand years signify a unknown. The word thousand through out the scriptures signifies a unknow as to whatever is in view.

Well, I prefer to call it pushing history rather than "pushing my view" as you so nicely put it.

Historically all prophecy to the JEWS has been fulfilled.
The only prophetic word from the grace era is that Christ will return for His people at the last trump before the destruction by intense heat 2 Peter With John's Revelation summing up the history of it all in Revelation.

Maranatha!!

John wrote Revelation while a prisoner on Patmos, so it had to be written before 70 AD because on the death of Caesar NERO, all prisoners would have been released (as was the custom when a caesar died)....I think Nero died in 66ad...I can check on that.

The blood of bulls and goats NEVER took away sin.

No sacrifice, before or after, Cuased God to forgive one sin. So it does not matter when they were done.

The bible says they will do sacrifice again Lets just take God at his word. Not worry if God will accept it..
I agree that no sacrifice caused God to forgive sin, but there was a specifically order that was to be followed in the Temple service and to fail to follow that order made the effort unacceptable to God.
After the death of Christ that order of service was no longer accepted at all.
Some seem to think that if the temple is rebuilt and that form of worship is restored, That temple/building will be holy in the eyes of God and He will accept that system of worship again.

I do not see any evidence in Scripture that that system of worship will ever exist again before Jesus returns.

With some people all they want to do is argue. or accuse,.....or just grumble.
If asked a question about why I believe this or that, I will answer, but NOT lenghy harangues trying to refute in toto my doctrines. I just do not have time to read all those booklets, I do have a life between stops at the forums, but I do try to read at least all of the replies that are a reasonable length.

Well lets see

Israel in sin. Starts sacrifice again,

A future leader commits an abomination which makes desolate.

The jews (who are still in sin) see this as a sign

Many come to christ, Many flee because they remember jesus warning.

Then we have a time of great tribulation such as never has been and will never be after

Christ returns, because if he does nto all flesh will die

Yep. Thats what My Bible says

No one says jews start to offer sacrifice and God accepts it.. So we need to stop thinking this way and just look at what prophesy says concerning future events.

When the veil was rent it rendered the stones in the wall useless . The last days or time began when Christ said it was finished, the veil was rent and a earthquake to signify the opening of the graves as the witness that Christ had come in the flesh . Walls falling down 70 years later had no significance.

You could say when the walls fell down the Holy place came into the picture .

Making new walls as a new temple " the holy place" turns things upside down.

Some are looking for new walls?

I am just looking at prophesy, And understand that when God says this or that will happen. Not question him, Not try to make an interpretation of symbology because the prophesy does nto fit my belief system. And knowing God has ALWAYS used prophesy to prove he is soverign and all knowing (only God can predict fute events 1000s of years in the future and they come true, exacly as he said they would.

God is not nostrodomus, where it SEEMS like he may prophesy some thing. When he says ABC will happen. We can expect them to happen.

its not ours to question why, or who, It is us to stand and watch Gods power..

I looked up ScriptureForAll and there is only one hebrew text for Daniel, so what are you talking about?
Thats probably the masoretic text I mentioned.
Arent you at all worried that in a few moments you will become a secular humanist?
No, because truth is not "secular". Truth is truth. I do not fear truth. I am just saying what I have discovered and how things are. I am prepared to accept some explanations, but so far I got only attacks from fear, from tradition, from fundamentalism, but nothing relevant or factual to the problems I posted.
