We are to believe...INTO Me. (Jesus ) These little Greek words εἰς ἐμέ make all the difference.

That is what we are commanded to do, but not everyone will do this.

Here are some more things John commands us to do -

4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:4

15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15

7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 1 John 3:7

  • Here is how we abide in Him -

Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. 1 John 3:24

20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 1 John 4:20

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: Hebrews 12:14

JPT
The question IS do we love our brother or abide In HIM because we first kept HIS commandments or do we love our brother and abide In HIM because HE has first created our spirits perfect and equipped us?

It is a horrible thing when a man who professes to be a Christian makes it necessary for a Christian to toot his own horn, but some “evil workers” forced Paul to do that (Phil. 3:5-6), and I found myself to be in a very similar situation. “But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.” (Phil. 3:7)

Furthermore, people who worship ignorance in the name of spiritually bring unspeakable shame to the Church and to the Christ who gave Himself for her.
Novody made it necessary for you to toot your own horn. Paul did not toot his own horn and neither do I.

In Philippians 3:7-9, we read - But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith. Amen! :)

Elsewhere, in Galatians 6:14, Paul said - But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. All the glory and honor goes to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Praise God! :)

All the verses pertaining to eternal life...including John 3:16, the most misunderstood verse in the world.

Eternal life is a kind of life. It is the life of Jesus we can abide in today by faith.
Thank you for adding those details to your prior post.

It matters not what compilation of out of context "proofs" someone will bring to this type of discussion.

The context is plainly departing from Christ while under persecution.

We do not work to keep our salvation arrived at by the sacrifice of Christ and the grace of God. And we do not then risk working to lose what was a gift of God in the first place.

The context is to continue to believe, not work for our salvation.

It would be nice if you at least understood the topic of discussion before you set out to argue against it.

Believe is the condition for salvation.

Those who believe are saved.

Those who believe for awhile are saved for a while.

The eternal life (Gospel of grace) is not in view at all in this parable.

Reason: The gospel of grace/being born again requires death to self first then a new life in Christ can start. The seed does not die before it germinates.

The parable has more to do with the rejection of the new kingdom of God by Israel and the new kingdom of the church age and bearing fruit within the new church age.

Fruit bearing with respect to the kingdom is completely in view this is why Jesus choose the seed to teach this truth, and even yet His disciples were not clear on what He was teaching and He had to expound further.

This is only heretical to those who adhere to the very, very heretical doctrine that a born again believer can lose their salvation.

The is only one Gospel.

The Gospel of the kingdom of God.

The Gospel of God’s grace.

Now I know where I've seen you before. And as you repeat these same arguments there as you post here.
I will say this and shall not speak to your perspective again as experience tells me you will never concede you are wrong about what Salvation is.
I am eternally grateful to God that I will not ever understand this discussion topic as you claim you do.
Thank you Jesus.

I see, so you deny believing is required for salvation.

This explains a lot.

I don’t find all of your complicated questions in the Bible.

You do realize this is a false accusation :( and if I give you the benefit of the doubt an uninformed accusation.

OstrichSmiling has written many times on the need for belief to receive eternal life.

Your position that belief is not a singular event is flawed according to scripture.

In John 3:16 you would to well to know that "whoever believes" is a nominative present participle portraying a single moment of believing and not a continuous one.

Meaning..... eternal life is immediately received when one believes in the Christ as Saviour.

As well, according to scripture a continuous and perfect state of believing in Christ is not even possible in our fallen state, since this would necessitate sinless perfection. Every sin that a believer commits is reflective of some degree of unbelief.

Therefore, you have placed yourself in an impossible position of attaining salvation/eternal life based on your own imperfect ability to maintain belief perfectly.

And you have made belief an ongoing work which is contrary to the gospel of grace.

Can you copy and paste from any of my posts where I stated a person must “maintain belief perfectly”.

Never said you said that.........what I said is if one's salvation/eternal life is based on one's ongoing belief then one's ongoing belief had better be perfect.

God's standard is perfection.:)

It is the object of our belief that saves us ….Jesus!!

He requires a one time belief in His work, a one time personal belief of the heart, mind and will whereby we are born from above.

Salvation apart from an abiding faith is salvation by knowledge, i.e., gnosticism.

Maybe we could define what the biblical word believes means.

If the Lord told you not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and Satan told you, you could, so you ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Which one did your action tells us you believe, God or Satan?
