Can anyone explain with Bible verses if you disagree that the verses used are wrong before giving verses to disprove the existence of purgatory?
1 Corinthians 3:12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
The prison of spirits which Christ had visited after he was crucified is purgatory ( 1 Peter 3:18-19)
There is a need for purgatory in order to be cleansed because for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God as mentioned in Romans 3:23.
you cannot go to paradise if you have stain of sin:
Revelation 21:27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Purgatory.
NOUN - (in Roman Catholic doctrine) a place or state of suffering inhabited by the souls of sinners who are expiating their sins before going to heaven.
ADJECTIVE - archaic, having the quality of cleansing or purifying.
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.
Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Heb 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death(not physical); but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
There is not a purgatory for however a person dies, whether with sin on their record, or sin forgiven and their record clean, they will remain in that state forever.
For it is appointed unto men once to die, then comes the judgment, so as soon as we die judgment is already set, so if a person dies with sin on their record there is no reversing it in the afterlife.
We only have the chance on this earth to be saved while in the flesh, for the sin dwells in the flesh, which Paul said there is no good thing that dwells in the flesh, and the Spirit and flesh are contrary to each other.
And if our sins are forgiven and we have a clean record we can put off the flesh, and preserve the soul having a glorified body.
It is because of the flesh that we can receive forgiveness and be saved, for we can put off the flesh and our soul saved.
An angel cannot be redeemed for there is no way to put off the sin, for when they rebelled and sinned they tainted their whole body seeing they are only one component, spirit.
But people are soul and flesh, and the soul is what will live on forever, and the true essence of people, so if they are forgiven with no sin on their record when they die, they put off the flesh where the sin resides, and their soul is saved for they are more than one component.
If a person dies with sin on their record not forgiven they cannot be redeemed, for they are out of the flesh now, and in the spirit realm, so their whole being is tainted like a fallen angel with no way to put off the sin for they are not in the flesh, so the sin cannot go anywhere to be removed from them like a person in the flesh.
And all spirits go back to God who gave them regardless of how the person acted on earth, so no one will have the spirit in the afterlife, but only the soul will live on, so they cannot preserve their spirit and be saved for it is not part of them, and the sins surely will not transfer to the spirit, for the spirit cannot be tainted which is why they all go back to God who gave them regardless if the person was forgiven, or died in their sins.
There is no purgatory for people that died in their sins to be able to remove the sins and be forgiven, for their whole being is tainted with sin being only one component, soul, and nowhere for the sin to be transferred to another component, like the flesh while alive on earth.
Which it would seem if God forgives us it does not matter if we are one component the sins should be removed, but it appears it does not look that way, for the sins have to be transferred to another component that is part of us, and preserve our true essence, which in people's case is the soul.
Lev 16:7 And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Lev 16:8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.
Lev 16:9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD'S lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.
Lev 16:10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.
Lev 16:15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:
Lev 16:16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
Lev 16:20 And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:
Lev 16:21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:
Lev 16:22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.
It kind of reminds me of the scapegoat in the Bible, which it seems as if our flesh is the scapegoat which is where the sins reside, and with the mind we serve Christ, led by the Spirit, and our soul is saved.
When we confess our sins to God, and are forgiven, we make atonement for our sins, and the blood of Christ washes away our sins, and our flesh which is alive becomes the scapegoat that carries the burden of the sins, that we can put off and be saved.
People that die in their sins are out of the flesh, and no way to put off the sins, and their whole body is tainted with sin with no way to put off the sin.
The flesh is only the scapegoat while it is alive.
