We are to go by the laws of the land in which we live unless those laws go against God's laws. (Murder of the unborn comes to mind).

i was going to reply with the same response but you beat me to it.
the majority of the rulers are corrupt and rotten to the core, on the opposite end of the spectrum from godly. it makes no sense that these would be the kind of leaders the Lord chooses.
i wanted to say more but i was at work. the bible is full of passages of the Lord saying who He is, forgiveness, compassion, love, His Son teaches the same thing. and then we are to believe the Most High wants us to support evil leaders?? after Nero has 50 Christians thrown to the lions for entertainment the Apostles went and shook his hand??
the bible says Paul can sometimes be hard to understand, maybe confusing at times, this is one of those passages.

I have read in the bible that God establishes the government and that by not following the laws thereof you set yourself up against gods Will and Curse yourself.. but when i Think about what kind of laws of the land in some countries there are like in french where girls are not allowed to wear pants but Only skirts.. what kind of God is that?
A better example might be: Why did God put Hitler in charge of Germany?

With what due respect is appropriate, thiskind of thinking led to the followers of Hitler and all the tyrants of our history.

We know a tree by the fruit it bears and until today I, personally, have not witnessed any tree of righteousness other than the King, Jesus Christ......

We have the freedom and liberty given us by truth, the source of truth is Jesus Christ. He is worthy, not world leaders for they lead just that, the world.

Putting God's laws first lead to following Hitler? Worst bible interpretation ever! (if that were the case, which I highly doubt!).

As for me i will do my best to be in alignment with any law that a worldly authority establishes.. The only time i would disobey is when the laws of the world authority are in conflict with the Laws of God..

In this case the law for girls to wear skirts is not a law which is in conflict with Gods laws.. So if an authority established such a law i would follow it.. I may not agree with it.. I may think it is silly.. But as long as it does not cause me to sin against God i will fall into line with it..

Hey! Adstar.... : )
I have an issue like that myself! Since I'm balding now, I like to wear a hat and I know the Lord looks to the heart, but requires me to pray without my hat on and then I'm to pray without ceasing. : ( lol Do I ignore the Lord directive and dishonor my head because I just can't understand the reason for it? Yiiikes at that! So I submit to the instruction, preferring to walk with a clear conscience even though I don't understand it...

This particular text is a reference to the law of being subject to the High Priest and the priesthood, the rulers of Israel befor the kings, and the kings were anointed to be in their office..

When Paul was taken before the High Priest of that year, he did not know him, and he spoke in rough terms to the HP, but when he realized it was not simply some political person but the High Priest, he immediately apologized for being disrespectful.

He refers to the leaders of the assemblies, not to the Herods, Ceasars and Pilates of those day.

How can this possibly apply to political leaders who do the work of satan? Impossible....

Our Authority is Jesus Chrsit, our King now and foreer, amen.
So you are saying that God used to establish such a Thing but then gave up on it? Your text makes me doubt further Couse of other verses that are attached to this.

I have not said such a think, althoug we are all saved by grace were we to follow GTod's laws we would never follow any leaders other than our assembly leaders, those in whom we have given our trust as faithful servants of the most High God.

I have given my trust to the High Priest Who is my only true Leader andKing........ I do notfollow murderers.

While we are on the subject, any who steal from widows and orphans, or who defraud the sojourner may as well be a murderer........thin k on that and pray on it.

The Israel of this age, no more in true existence, took care of all of its peaple and the stranger......this is not true in most countries today, though many make a good effort.

God always has. The government of the original Israel was headed by God.

The Israel of God is still headed by Him.

The folksinging is an elaboration upon this understanding from Paul......

Eph 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
Eph 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
Eph 3:6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

What is your conscience telling you? If i was uncertain about a issue like that then i would pray to God and ask for strong conviction to come upon you when you are wearing your hat... If you do not feel any strong conviction in wearing it day to day then be at peace and let it ( the issue ) go.. But there is two issues for you.. One wearing a hat in general and Two wearing a hat while praying..

I often wear a beanie in winter.. I do not feel convicted from wearing it from day to day.. But i always take it off while i pray.. Why because i don't feel right in my conscience praying with it on.. But i am ok with other Christians having different convictions over such an issue.. What they do is between them and God..

My government is the eternal Kingdom and Monarchy of our King. Perhaps your government differs.....what can I say more? If that is the situation with-you, it is very sad.

Yes. For matters of conscience; Let each man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
And Happy is the man that condemns himself not in the thing that he allows.

The Lord doesn't want us to freeze nor to refrain from praying just because of a hat, but when possible and for the sake of others, we should do so, I suspect...

Please consider that the surface truths lying on top of a passage in Scripture may not be the actual truths that God wants to communicate with you.

You ought to trust only in Jesus and His word. Jesus is not to blame for the foolishness people do in His name.

There are times when we don't have to follow the law: for example: will you take the mark of the beast, just because it's the law?

According to this logic it is God's will we obey the Hitlers of today, death campe would be fine were they legal, summery executions and more.........

God law refers to obeying our spiritual leaders, never the leaders of this dark age called time.

Keep on thinking in this manner and you will wander into total darkness..... Again., I ask you, "Is a Hitler type government the type of governing authority you are supposed to obey? If so, you are worshiping something other than the Jesus Christ I have learned.
