sadly, that is what these sinless perfectionist want to share with the world. that is not what the bible teaches, and they need help.
I'm a Calvinist by trade, but I also take the warnings about losing ones salvation very seriously. I don't think any of us can be absolutely sure, but I do believe that God knows who will make it for sure. We have to live like we are not sure and strive to enter at the straight gate

Not sure what warnings your talking about.

If we think we can lose salvation, Satan has a stronghold and a door he can attack, and pry open, especially if we for whatever reason start to struggle, And that is a dangerous place for a child of God to be.

We have to rely and strongly hold on to the hope of eternal life, which God, who can not lie promised before time began. Only through grace can we find victory over sin and victory over the evil one.

now, there are impostors among us who need to be warned to make sure that have true saving faith, but for thse who are true children of God, we are not given a spirit of fear, but of sound mind, I can not have a sound mine if I must worry about some day falling from grace.

Hi MarkWilliams, Calvinism is okay but so is the security of the believer. 1John5:13 say's, "we can "KNOW", that we have eternal life."
And no one can separate us from the love of God, Romans8:31, or pluck us out of His hands. The security of the believer.
1John5:13
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may "know" that you have eternal life.

God bless!

Hi E-g, True and I agree, "sinless perfectionism", "Is not what the bible teaches"

Here is, "a little help"

Sinless Perfectionism Debunked:

Spurgeon was at a conference where a preacher taught perfectionism in an outspoken manner and even claimed to have reached a state of sinless perfection himself. Spurgeon didn’t challenge him on the spot. Instead, the next morning he poured a pitcher of milk over the man’s head, to which the ‘perfectionist’ responded with the kind of rage and hostility that you’d expect from any sinner. "Perfectionism debunked."

Yes, that we know we have eternal life, which by definition, is to "know Him".

Now in this life we are joined to Christ through faith, in which we are joined to the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.

To know Him, is to be joined to Him as one, as a man "knows" a woman.

  • But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 1 Corinthians 6:17

This is what it means to be "in Christ".

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2

  • the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

However, most people tend to read right past this part.

  • There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh

We don't have any power over sin so we can't stop sinning.

Absoloutly not.

The good news is we have His nature that is empowered by His Spirit, so that now, we can walk according to the Spirit, rather than according to the flesh.

If we live our lives allowing the flesh to have it's way, after we have been given dominion over the sin in our flesh, then we will persih in eternal damnation.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8:12-13

again

  • those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21

again

3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them. Ephesians 5:3-7

  • for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.

again

9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

  • Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?

  • Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Christians who practice the works of the flesh will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Paul makes it clear, that we are not to associate with immoral Christians, which is how immorality spreads.

9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person. 1 Corinthians 5:9-11

We don't have any power over sin so we can't stop sinning. Only God has the power over sin, we will continue to sin until the day we die and you know it's true
I would say that we do have power over sin.
Any child of God having the Holy Spirit in him can and will walk according to spirit.

Will we be sinless before we die?
I would say no we will not be.
Some people do take longer than others to overcome but if we hunger after God he will provide when the time is right.

I would say though that we should never be sin focused as this takes the focus of Jesus.

We should focus on Jesus and as we do he increases and we, are flesh decreases.

When we look at the Lords prayer we see the part about sin comes down the line.
The first part focuses on God.

There is not "One" mention of the word, "Eternal Damnation" , in Romans8:1, as a matter of fact it says just the opposite of what you say.

You add your words to scripture that are not there and misapply Gods words, to your own condemnation, not ours.
Bad Interpretation = Bad Application -- Not one mention of "Eternal Damnation", in Romans Chapter 8, not one.
Romans8:1,2
1)
Therefore, there is now "no condemnation" for those who are in Christ Jesus,
2) because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life "has set you free from the law of sin and death

That depends on what Bible you read.

Romans 8:1-4

Free from Indwelling Sin
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. (NKJV)

The NKJV has a side note [8:1] 1. NU omits the rest of v. 1. as bolded above,

So it reads as follows

Romans 8:1
Life in the Spirit
1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (ESV)

And the ESV side note has, 1 Some manuscripts add who walk not according to the flesh (but according to the Spirit)

I don't think the NIV/NLT have such notes but both translate per the ESV.

It's a big difference and one which can really affect a persons walk with Jesus.

Come on BillG, it says; He "condemned sin" in the flesh, He, Jesus "condemned sin", not you and I to, "Eternal Damnation" as passinthrough says.

Can you see the difference really? But I will leave you to your own interpretation. Maybe have a second look.

Oh no don't get me wrong.

I do not believe that part B of V1 should be in there (given my research)

A young or immature beliver can read the NKJV (aka KJV which doesn't have the side note) and feel condemnation based on what they do or don't do, rather than what Jesus has done and whom they are in Jesus.

The result is that they focus on sinning less, working harder because if they do not then they are condemned.

Trust me I was such a person.

So the focus is on not doing, rather than being. If you don't do then you are condemned and waiting for the smack down and worrying if have lost your salvation today.

If we focus on who we are then we will be and seek to be what we are which is children of God then we will seek after him, that being the case then we walk according to the Spirit and not the flesh

Therefore not condemned.

And when we get it wrong or are overcome we are not condemned because we are in Jesus and he is in us.

And that was my point.

NKJV

V3 states he condemns sin in the flesh. But a times a believer does walk in the flesh, if so are they condemned according to V1? They may feel so because they have walked in the flesh.

The NLT replaced flesh with nature, sinful nature which can lead confusion.

I do not know how you do it bro, the self righteous arrogance of some of these people make me want to puke.
Who will go for me.....? I will always defend the truth of eternal security tooth and nail....it is the foundational core truth of the bible and ALL who place their trust into a gospel that is false with no power such as the following, will have a very rude, consequential awakening one day with eternal consequences --->saved by faith and works which can be lost

Interesting that the following was posted.

Hebrews 10:38
38 Now the just shall live by faith;
But if anyone draws back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.”

But neglected the next verse

Hebrews 10:39
39 But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

Gal 4:8 was quoted.

Galatians 4:8

Fears for the Church
8 But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods.

What was going on?

4:8, 9 The words in bondage and elements refer back to v. 3. Paul was in effect asking the Galatians, “Is it spiritual progress again to be enslaved to weak and beggarly rituals and observances (v. 10)? How could you have known God and turned away to ‘childish’ (v. 3) things?” The Galatians had come to know God through faith in Jesus Christ (see John 17:2, 3). He had adopted them as His own sons, but they were turning back to the law that had once enslaved them. (Bible study notes)

Going back to the law.

No point me making any more points
