This can all be settled without the walls of text. Did Jesus set an example to be baptised in water? Yes. Did the Holy Spirit urge me to be baptised in water? Yes. Point settled.

hornetguy,

How can you say that to someone who is bringing *NEW* and *SPECIAL* revelations?

They are so *special* that they can over-ride and contradict the Word of God. Imagine "Peter forgot" and now some has to remind him.

ahhh,..... yes... the "new, improved" version of salvation.

It's not that I don't believe that she's a "prophet", it's just.... well, I guess it IS that's what I think.

Swaggart has had similar revelations. he believes that not even Paul really understood the cross even though most people have a hard time with Romans. might be because Paul was mixed up and didn't know what he was talkin 'bout

you can't make this stuff up :p

that silly ol' Paul. I guess that being qualified/chosen to study under Gamaliel really doesn't mean that he was smart....

Good ol' forgetful Paul.

But why is it required?

Because Jesus told us to. All the apostles taught it, and we assume did it themselves. We KNOW Paul did it, immediately upon regaining his sight. We know that pretty much ALL of Christianity did it, up until somewhere during the "restoration", when someone decided that everyone up until that point had been wrong.

It is our physical showing of our following Jesus... it is our "death, burial, and resurrection" to become a new creation.

Oh, and, according to Peter, when we are baptized, we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit....

Yes I agree.

For me it's a spiritual marker in a belivers life.

In the early church you confessed you were baptised.
No big show or testimony.

For me today that causes an issue.

Have to stand up and give a big testimony.

I also think that the church today places a burden on baptism.

That burden being, stop sinning.

Deade,

The urges you feel are not scripture nor does it settle a "point" but it does show a mentality. Urges or feelings whether assumed from God or the gut is a poor basis for such decisions.

I also believe it is required, not because of feelings but scripture.

But why is it required?
Peter answered them, "All of you must turn to God and change the way you think and act, and each of you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins will be forgiven. Then you will receive the Holy Spirit as a gift

That's why.

Well its a real privilege to meet a genuine false prophet. I've had to show you some errors in your beliefs, but true prophets always line up with the Word of God. And you are another one who uses the term "mainstream Christianity".

How about "VICEGERENT" approved Christianity? NO! How about "secular" Christianity? NAW! How about NO "POWER" (Acts 1:8) Christianity? How about "Inhabicommunicable" Christianity? How about "DEAD" Christianity? How about "self righteous" Christianity? How about "PROCLAIMED" Christianity? Which one?

You've haven't "showed me anything" with the Word of God where I was in error!

Show me again!

A rather important marker, the mark between the guilt of sin and the forgiveness of sin.

You didn't hear Peter "REPENT" for "FORGETTING" Jesus had "fulfilled" water baptism?

We have to show you that your claim is false? How about you have to show us that your claim is true.

I sure don't see any "scripture" where the thief on the cross was water baptized. God treats us differently?

I don't see where the thief on the cross was water baptized? I thought "GOD is no respecter of persons?" You mean HE treats us differently?
