After John we read, "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." (Rom 10:4 KJV)

Further, we read in (Gal 3:24-26 KJV) "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus."
Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ (GOD's commands; the Decalogue and statutes written in the Book of the Law. The Word manifested in the flesh; Christ) down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ (GOD's commands and statutes written in the Book of the Law. In other words the Word; The Word manifested in the flesh; Christ) again from the dead.) But what saith it? The Word (GOD's commands and statutes written in the Book of the Law; the Divine utterances; Christ, the Word manifested in the flesh manifested in our flesh) is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart and in thy hand: (that thou mayest do it) that is, the word of faith, which we preach.

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth because He (the Word; the Decalogue and the Laws contained in the Book of the Law that pertained to righteousness) are now in our hearts, and in our mouths, and in our hands that we do it! That is the Word of faith in which we preach. And that my friend is the Gospel!(Rom 10:4 KJV)

Read again what you posted. Jesus fulfilled the Law. He completed it. Ended it.

Meaning of fulfill
1.
to bring about the completion or achievement of (a desire, promise, etc)
2. to carry out or execute (a request, etc)
3. to conform with or satisfy (regulations, demands, etc)
Fulfill is not end, it is to complete in the sense of do to the uttermost in relation to mandates (laws). The BDAG cites:

Mt 5:17; depending on how one prefers to interpret the context, πληρόω is understood here either as fulfill=do, carry out, or as bring to full expression=show it forth in its true mng., or as fill up=complete

Complete in the sense of do to the uttermost, Not End.

From Albert Barnes' Notes on the Bible:
Matthew 5:17
Think not that I am come ... - Our Saviour was just entering on his work. It was important for him to state what he came to do. By his setting up to be a teacher in opposition to the scribes and Pharisees, some might charge him with an intention to destroy their law, and to abolish the customs of the nation. He therefore told them that he did not come for that end, but really to fulfill or accomplish what was in the law and the prophets.
To destroy - To abrogate; to deny their divine authority; to set people free from the obligation to obey them. “The law.” The five books of Moses called the law. See the notes at Luk_24:44.
The Prophets - The books which the prophets wrote. These two divisions here seem to comprehend the Old Testament, and Jesus says that he came not to do away or destroy the authority of the Old Testament.
But to fulfil - To complete the design; to fill up what was predicted; to accomplish what was intended in them. The word “fulfill” also means sometimes “to teach” or “to inculcate,”

Not End.

Robertson's Word Pictures:
Matthew 5:17
I came not to destroy, but to fulfil (ouk ēlthon katalusai alla plērōsai). The verb “destroy” means to “loosen down” as of a house or tent (2Co_5:1). Fulfil is to fill full. This Jesus did to the ceremonial law which pointed to him and the moral law he kept.He came to fill the law, to reveal the full depth of meaning that it was intended to hold” (McNeile).

Not End!

Lightfoots commentary of the NT from the Talmud and Hebraica:

....III. He meets with this prejudice here and so onwards by many arguments, as namely, 1. That he abolished not the law when he abolished traditions; for therefore he came that he might fulfil the law. 2. That he asserts, that "not one iota shall perish from the law." 3. That he brought in an observation of the law much more pure and excellent than the Pharisaical observation of it was: which he confirms even to the end of the chapter, explaining the law according to its genuine and spiritual sense.

Not End.To fulfill is do to the uttermost. To show the full extant of what GOD had wanted from the beginning. TO magnify the Life in which GOD had intended from the beginning. A life in HIM and HE in us. True righteousness.

The Law is fulfilled for believers whose sins are blotted out in the sea of His forgetfulness. But those who do not believe are still under the Law and will be judged accordingly.

True. Jesus went on to say: "Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away." (Luk 21:33)

Jesus, "The Mighty God, the Everlasting Father" (Isa 9:6) the "King of the Jews" (Mat 2:2 Mat 27:37) gave Moses the Law that men added to, (the Mitzvot). Jesus, who is "God with us" Mat 1:23, amended and strengthened God's law, and HIS words and His Law shall never fail or pass away even though the earth will.
First, God's Work is perfect, it doesn't need amended or strengthened. Second, Jesus was that same God who created His Instructions in the first place, it was His Word that made the Law to begin with and the scriptures say He doesn't change. Third, you have absolutely zero evidence that Jesus amended or Strengthened the Law and Prophets.

You used Matt. 5, but that has been shown as false. Can you provide any other evidence that Jesus changed, strengthened or amended the Law and Prophets?

From the New Bible Commentary we read that Jesus placed the Law alongside the Prophets as finding fulfillment in him. "For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John." (Mat 11:13 KJV)

It seems you mix up the scriptures and their meaning in oder to follow your tradtions that break the Commandments of God.

Of course all the Old and NEW Covenant laws are fulfilled in Christ. This does not mean that they are abolished and done away with so we are free to SIN, otherwise Jesus and the apostles would not have taught to keep them.

Now you try and use Matthew 11:13 as if to say God's law is no more and you are free to sin because Christ fulfilled God's law for you therefore you do not have to?

Matthew 11:13, For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

Means that the Mosaic laws for remission of sin under the OLD Covenant are fulfilled in Christ (no more animal sacrifices and sin offereings)

Then you use Romans 10:4, For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believes.

WHY?

Becaues God's LAW (10 Commandments) are the schoolmaster (Gal 3:24-25) to shows us our need of a Savior. It shows us that we are ALL sinners in need of salvation. God's LAW leads us to Christ that we might be justified by Faith.

The scripture is not saying there is no more God's LAW because how would you know what SIN is? It's purpose is to lead the SINNER to the SAVIOUR. Christ is at the END of the LAW waiting for the SINNER to save those who BELIEVE.

LAW OF GOD
>>>SIN>>>SINNER>>> CHRIST (END; THE LAW LEADS TO) >>>SAVIOUR >>>>FAITH

The purpose of God's LAW is to bring all to Jesus this is what the end of the LAW means Jesus is the end (Saviour). It does not mean God's LAW is abolished but God's LAW is written on the heart and established in the believer by FAITH.

Romans 3
31,
Do we then abolish the law through faith? GOD FORBID: YES, WE ESTABLISH THE LAW.

DO YOU KNOW GOD?

1 John 2:2
3, And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4, He that said, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

...........

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

How would you describe this? Don't bother responding I have put you back on ignore.

Mat_5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Mat_5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Mat_5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Mat_5:34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

Mat_5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Mat_5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Wasn't Jesus talking about the Ten Commandments that stand for all time, while Paul was talking about Jewish customs that had become enshrined in law?

And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly. And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present. And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry. And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law: And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
(Act 21:17-21 KJV)
The law is 613 rules found in the Torah. That is the law Jesus is talking about. Sin is the transgression of that law. No one but Jesus has ever kept the law. Jesus said, "I didn't come to break the law and the prophets but to fulfill them." They will stand until the heavens and earth pass away.

Here is what jesus said about the law and the prophets.

Matthew 5:17 to 20 NIV

The Fulfillment of the Law
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

so, a man writes a letter, you regularly cite part of that letter, then when the man , same man, explains what he is referring to, you dismiss it, because you are only interested in the part of the letter that you can bend toward Sabbath keeping.

John was not referring to the Ten, he said believe in the name of the Son, and love one another. not Sabbath.
You can't realistically expect to persuade LGF of anything that contradicts SDA doctrine. He is too thoroughly brainwashed!
You do well to point out his errors though. We have a responsibility to new and ungrounded believers to point out his errors so they will not be led astray.

Sorry to hear you do not keep [The Lords Passover] to cover your sins.

And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying,
“This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
There is no mention of sin or covers or even me as the reader of christian history, in your citation.

If Christ had not fulfilled the law there would be no salvation. For those who live under the law are condemned. That is what the law does, it condemns. Why people should endeavour to keep the law is a mystery to me because it cannot be done. Consequently all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” Gal 3:10

However, we have a redeemer and whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. Joh 3:18 He was that perfect lamb slain for the world for the remission of sins. He was as a lamb without blemish and without spot or stain: 1Pe 1:19.

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set us free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. Rom 8:1-2. Those who throw themselves on the mercy of the one who fulfilled the law will find redemption in Him.

May God bless.

I believe all with honest heart who hear God's Word and view this thread will see who is in error and who is not and who follows God's Word and who does not and who follow the tradtions of men over the Word of God and who does not. Only God's Word is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW it. SIN will keep all who knowingly continue in it OUT of God's KINGDOM.

It is very obvious. :(
Those who continue to partake of the forbidden FRUIT (SIN) when God has asked them not to will surely die despite the serpent telling them they will not surely die (Genesis 3:1-4).

We are ONLY SAVED by GRACE through FAITH and not of OURSELVES it is a GIFT of GOD and NOT of WORKS least anyman should boast (Eph 2:8)

However if your FAITH does not have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE then you are sill in your SINS because you have rejected the GIFT of GOD'S dear son (Romans 6:23; Hebrews 10:26-27).

If your tree has not fruit it will be cast down and thrown into the fire.SIN will keep all those who KNOWINGLY continue in it out of God's KINGDOM.
God's Word clearly describes who his people are and who they are not.

Matthew 7
16,
You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17, Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.
18, A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19, Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20, Therefore by their fruits you shall know them.
21, Not every one that said to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22, Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works?
23, And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.

HOW DO WE KNOW IF WE KNOW GOD?

1 JOHN 2

3, And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4,
He that said, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

What is the FRUIT of one who professes FAITH? OBEDIENCE or DISOBEDIENCE? Therefore by their FRUITS you shall know them.

1 John 3

6, WHOEVER ABIDES IN HIM SINS NOT: whoever SINS HAS NOT SEEN HIM, NEITHER KNOWS HIM.
7, Little children, LET KNOW ONE DECEIVE YOU: he that DOES RIGHTEOUSNESS IS RIGHTEOUS, even as he is righteous.8, HE THAT COMMITS SIN IS OF THE DEVIL; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9, WHOSOEVER IS BORN OF GOD DOES NOT COMMIT SIN; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10,
IN THIS THE CHILDREN OF GOD ARE MANIFEST AND THE CHILDREN OF THE DEVIL: whoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.

SIN is the fruit of the DEVIL and grows on those who follow him. Obedience is the fruit of FAITH in those who follow God and the GIFT of salvation to those who BELIEVE.

Romans 6
16,
Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?

WHO ARE GOD'S SAINTS?

Revelation 12: [17], And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 14: [12] HERE IS THE PATIENCE OF THE SAINTS: here are they that KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, and the faith of Jesus. Yep if you are still in your SINS you are not on God's side or do you know him.
No need for confusion

WHAT IS GRACE FOR?

Romans 1:5
By whom we have received GRACE and apostleship, FOR OBEDIENCE TO THE FAITH for obedience to the faith among all nati ons, for his name.

DOES FAITH ABOLISH GOD'S LAW?

Romans 3:31 DO WE THEN VOID THE LAW THROUGH FAITH? GOD FORBID: YES, WE ESTABLISH THE LAW.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THOSE WHO PROFESS GOD'S NAME AND CONTINUE IN SIN WHEN JESUS RETURNS?

Matthew 7:22, Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works?
23, And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work (SIN) iniquity.

Yep no need to guess. There is only two classes of people 1. those that KEEP God's Commandments through FAITH in Jesus and 2. those that do not and continue in SIN. Those practicing SIN (breaking God's Commandments) will not enter into God's KINGDOM.

This is why Jesus says; IF YOU LOVE ME KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS (John 14:15)

..............

I see, so please show us how Hebrews 10:26-27 in your view does not mean....

26,
For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, 27, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.Surrounding context...

Hebrews 10
13,
From now on expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14, For by one offering he has perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15, Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, said the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17, And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18, Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19, Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20, By a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21, And having an high priest over the house of God;
22, Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23, Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24, And let us consider one another to provoke to love and to good works:
25, Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching.
26, For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,
27, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28, He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29, Of how much sorer punishment, suppose you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done despite to the Spirit of grace?
30, For we know him that has said, Vengeance belongs to me, I will recompense, said the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31, It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

............

It seems in your view DC, Paul is lying when he says if we continue in SIN there remains no more sacrifice for sins,But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries?

HOW CAN WE KNOW IF WE KNOW GOD?

1 John 2
3, And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4,
He that said, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

If your faith has no FRUIT your tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire. SIN will keep all who practice it OUT of God's KINGDOM.

.........

Post the rest of chapter 10 and then you will have the context and who said Paul wrote Hebrews...that is an assumption and not a hard fact.....

Hello DC

Your claim is that Hebrews 10:26-27 does not mean what it says and taken out of Context, I posted context before and after. You did not answer the question.

Please show us how Hebrews 10:26-27 in your view does not mean....

26,
For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, 27, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. Surrounding context previouslt posted.
Hebrews 10
13,
From now on expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14, For by one offering he has perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15, Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, said the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17, And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18, Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19, Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20, By a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21, And having an high priest over the house of God;

Why people should endeavour to keep the law is a mystery to me because it cannot be done.
Your teaching it is ok to break God's Commandments and still be right with God. SIN will keep all who practice it OUT of God's KINGDOM. There will be many who have a form of Godliness but deny the POWER there of (2 Tim 3:4-5). The Gospel of Christ is the POWER of God unto salvation from SIN in ALL those who believe. (Romans 1:16)

John 15
1,
I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer.
2, Every branch in me that bears not fruit he takes away: and every branch that bears fruit, he purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3, Now you are clean through the word which I have spoken to you.
4, Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can you, except you abide in me.
5, I am the vine, you are the branches: He that stays in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.
6, If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7, If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you.
8, Herein is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you be my disciples.
9, As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you: continue you in my love.
10, If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

1 John 3
6,
Whoever ABIDES IN HIM SINS NOT: WHOEVER SINS HAS NEITHER SEEN HIM OR KNOWN HIM.

Consequently all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” Gal 3:10
Who here in this thread is teaching we rely on our works to be saved? No one is teaching this whatsoever. If everyone is in agreement with you then you have not argument because all are in agreemnet we are not saved by our works of then things we do.

We are all SINNERS in need of a Savior. If you have no LAW then you have no SIN. If you have no SIN then you have no need of a Saviour. If you have no need of a Saviour then you have no salvation. If you have no salvation then you a lost because you are still in your SINS.

If you are still CONTINUING in your SINS than you do not BELIEVE in him and do not KNOW HIM...

1 John 2
3,
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4, He that said, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set us free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. Rom 8:1-2. Those who throw themselves on the mercy of the one who fulfilled the law will find redemption in Him.
AMEN. Although if you are still in your SINS you are not ABIDING IN Christ Jesus or KNOW him because it is written...

1 John 3
6,
Whoever ABIDES IN HIM SINS NOT: WHOEVER SINS HAS NEITHER SEEN HIM OR KNOWS HIM.

so, a man writes a letter, you regularly cite part of that letter, then when the man , same man, explains what he is referring to, you dismiss it, because you are only interested in the part of the letter that you can bend toward Sabbath keeping.
He who God sends speaks the Words of God. The Words I share with you are God's Word's not mine sent to help all who have ears to hear and eyes to see. You are free to BELIEVE or to REJECT God's Words I do not judge you. God's Word that you have rejected however however will be your judge come judgement day. SIN will keep all who practice it OUT of God's KINGDOM.

JOHN 12
47,
And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48, He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

John was not referring to the Ten, he said believe in the name of the Son, and love one another. not Sabbath.
You have no truth in you because you do not know him who calls you in LOVE to LOVE another...

THE CONTEXT of 1 John 3 is those who SIN (BREAK GOD'S COMMANDMENTS) and those who do not...

1 JOHN 3
3,
And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
4, Whoever COMMITS SIN TRANSGRESSES ALSO THE LAW: for SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF GOD'S LAW
5, And you know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6, WHOEVER ABIDES IN HIM SINS NOT: whoever SINS HAS NOT SEEN HIM, NEITHER KNOWS HIM.

Here you have that reference John is talking about earlier repeated in emphasis in 1 John 2:3-4 [3], And hereby we do know that we know him, if wekeep his commandments. [4], He that said, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

7, Little children, LET KNOW ONE DECEIVE YOU: he that DOES RIGHTEOUSNESS IS RIGHTEOUS, even as he is righteous.
What is righteousness? PS 119:172 My tongue shall speak of your word: for all your commandments are righteousness.Yep we are definately talking about God's 10 Commandments. SIN is breaking God's Commandments (1 John 3:4; Romans 7:7; James 2:8-11; Romans 3:20)and RIGHTESOUNESS is OBEDIENCE to God's Commandments.

8,
HE THAT COMMITS SIN IS OF THE DEVIL; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Seems like John is speaking pretty plain language here. If you are sining (breaking God's Commandments) then you do not know God and you are of the Devil

9,
WHOSOEVER IS BORN OF GOD DOES NOT COMMIT SIN; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Seems John is telling us the reason why Jesus says. Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3).Those who practice SIN will NOT enter into God's KINGDOM

10,
IN THIS THE CHILDREN OF GOD ARE MANIFEST AND THE CHILDREN OF THE DEVIL: whoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.
IN THIS to SIN or NOT to SIN are the children of God and the Children of the devil manifest;

No need to be in confusion here. God's Word makes it very clear who God's saints are.

11,
For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
12, Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And why slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
13, Marvel not, my brothers, if the world hate you.
14, We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brothers. He that loves not his brother stays in death.
15, Whoever hates his brother is a MURDERER: and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

To put it all to rest now, John's now talking about the 6th Commandment of the 10 Commandments. This is the CONTEXT of 1 John 3:23 that you say is NOT talking about God's 10 Commandments. It seems God's Word disagrees with you.

...............
