Faith in oneself or faith in the cross

Does the cross purify us and make us Holy?

Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.
1 Peter 1:22

Now either we have been purified by obeying the truth or we are still defiled?
Peter is saying we are pure.

The complexity is this kind of love and depth does not happen overnight.
So there is a sense of continual purification and washing in both the word
and the Holy Spirit.

This is where the language becomes complicated.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

Sin defiles and makes us unholy, so resolving issues is part of the walk.
Like any athlete in training there are set backs on the road to the ultimate goal.

I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling.
Revelation 2:21

Conviction of sin is about behaviour, the consequences, admiting the error and evil,
and walking another path. This takes time, sometimes a lifetime. This is Gods work,
yet some want to compromise it all.

the truth Peter is speaking of is faith in Christ and His unblemished and spotless blood , which is what redeems us. not in our ( your) ability to be sinless.

Peter tells us to be holy. that should be our goal. but, we have to acknowledge that fact that at times, we fall short of that goal. do you acknowledge this? do you think believers should be truthful and honest? will you admit your are not, by Biblical standards, pure and holy?

There is a foolishness being spoken here.

When you are cleansed and made Holy by God, you are cleansed and made Holy 100%

That is the whole point, else you are not cleansed or Holy.

Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life
Revelation 21:27

If God does not cleanse us 100% and make us clean, any impurity is worthy of the lake
of fire.
Believers are cleansed and are Sanctified/made Holy, 100% positionally in Christ (1 Corinthians 1:2; 6:11), but what about practical, progressive holiness which becomes more and more evident in our actions, words, thoughts, attitudes, and motives? Do we claim to be sinless, without fault or defect, flawless, absolutely perfect, 100% of the time (in of ourselves)?

Satan's argument about Job was that he was not really blameless, which is
exactly the same argument being put here.

"Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."
"Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied.
Job 1:9-10
Blameless here does not mean that Job was sinless, without fault of defect, flawless, absolutely perfect 100% of the time. *Job had admitted his human sinfulness (Job 7:21; 13:26).*

Ecclesiastes 7:20 - For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin.

Romans 3:23 - ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Ralph, how many sins are attributed to us? How many do we have to pay for? Either Jesus paid for them all, or we are going to hell, because we all still sin. If we are sinning by not working as much as we should, how can we lose our salvation if we have no sins to pay for?
The only sin that can lose your salvation for you is unbelief.

We can tell if we or someone else is in unbelief by if they are living unchanged in the old life. Doesn't matter if they never believed to begin with, or stopped believing. The point is they are in unbelief. And if they are still that way on the day Christ comes back they will be rejected not saved. No past believing will save them.

judgementalism at it's best. maybe one day ralph kramden will get it through his head it is not his ( or anyone's ) place to judge another's salvation.

you do not know what is in someone's heart. God knows this, he can fairly and rightly judge. you don't and you can't.

Account(s)? Lawd mine could never be filled with enough "works" to get me into heaven, nor to keep my salvation. I can never do enough.
That is true.

We can tell if we have what it does take to get into heaven in our account by if we are a new creation being conformed into the image of Christ. No change means your account is empty.

People who have the righteousness of Christ stashed away in their account show it by the clothing they are enabled to be clothed in.

We can tell what's on the inside by what's on the outside. If you don't have anything on the outside, then you don't have anything on the inside. You will be rejected when Christ comes back. Fix it now while you still can, before it's too late. Fall on his mercy and be born again.

When I said that Christians could be hypocrites, I was speaking about a moment, not a lifestyle.
That's not a hypocrite.

A hypocrite is always maintaining a false image. Like an actor speaking loudly on stage for an audience. Actors always try to stay in character.....the character that they want to be, but really aren't. If you do that in Christianity you'll be going to the fiery place when Christ comes back, not into the kingdom.

People who claim to have faith in Christ but who are not changed in behavior are hypocrites. They do not know the Christ they claim to know. And whether they never knew him to begin with or stopped knowing him, doesn't matter. Either way they don't know him. Off to the furnace they will go. Jesus said that's where hypocrites go.

Are you refuting or mocking? Sorry, both must be works and ZOMBIES hate to work. Can you just "say or claim" that God created Zombies for glory(sarcasm)
or you may just be honest for Christ's sake.
Your own words both mock and refute the drivel you push....

Salvation is based upon FAITH alone.....there is not 1 WORK that saves a man, keeps a man saved, embellishes and or tops off salvation which is instantaneously and eternally given at the moment one exercises saving faith into the WORK OF CHRIST......wake up....this thread is not ABOUT fruit or works...it is about how one is BIBLICALLY saved......

IT pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to SAVE THEM THAT BELIEVE <-faith is what saves a man...NOT works..........

So the scripture is drivel. Wow What are you doing on a Christian site? Jesus said to see the fruits and you will know them. Why do you reject the words of Jesus on the fruits of faith and evil? This is what James was referring to!!! Why do you think it says sometings different?

Matthew 7

True and False Prophets
15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
This proves you have no real interest in the truth and also points to your dishonesty....you know very well that the 'drivel" I speak of is his interpretation and the false gospel you both push....thanks for showing your dishonesty to all....OH by the way....for ALL the readers and those who follow this thread...why is it that you cannot or won't answer 3 basic questions that equate to MILK........

a. You cannot

or

b. YOU won't because it destroys you false gospel

Still waiting on you to answer a few kindergarten milk questions from the word....

I will break it down and make it even easier to read and answer if there are too many words for you ENDOSCOPY....

Answer the FOLLOWING EASY questions....

HOW does one get placed INTO the VINE?

WHAT WORK places one into the VINE?

HE that BELIEVES in the SON and CONFESSES this BELIEF is ____________ <-WHAT?

WHAT 1 word goes with the bolded ONE right above this question?

There is not a just man upon the earth that does good and sins not.

When that was penned....there were saved men on the earth....JESUS was right....He that is without sin cast the first stone....I can tell you that many who name JESUS would have been casting stones immediately in their self righteous condemnatory attitude......
Am I casting stones if I don't let a child molester babysit my kids? Of course not.

It's called discernment. We have the right to decide who we will consider a brother or sister and who we will not-Matthew 18:17. That's not condemning them. That's being smart. People who say they are a brother/sister but who do not live the life Paul says to not even eat with-1 Corinthians 5:11. Paul was not teaching us to cast stones. He was teaching us to be discerning. Fake, phony, and false brethren are very dangerous.

Repent = feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing or sin.

Mat_3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Mat_4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Mar_1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Mar_6:12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
Luk_13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Luk_17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
Act_2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act_3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
Act_8:22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
Act_17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
Act_26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.
Rev_3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
Rev_3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Mat 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Mat 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
Mat 3:9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
Mat 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Just because they claimed they were children of Abraham they still needed to surrender their hearts and we can do the same thing today and claim that we are children of Christ but not bring forth fruits that are true to our faith. We can be no different to the pharisees and Sadducee in our outward claims.

Faith and works go hand in hand with each other. It is Christ's righteousness that saves us and our faith in His grace. But to continue in sin that grace might abound is not real faith.
You know....of all my Australian friends and how honest they are...it is tragic to see you being dishonest.........no one has stated the bolded (in your last line) and or even implied it.....funny how ALL workers for that elevate their works above saving faith are the most dishonest people on this site.........you claim works go hand in hand with faith and then flat misrepresent, twist, embellish and accuse of something that NONE of us have embraced and or tired to say.....

How does this level of dishonesty help prove that you guys even know the Lord......

no one is excusing impurity, or saying sin is no big deal. however, any one who says that they are 100% pure is a liar. and self-deceived.

you did not say that you think you are 100% pure. I hope you do not think so. no one is.
Have you noticed how those who tie works and faith together for salvation or to keep or top off salvation are the most dishonest people on this site......they have this default lie that they fall back on constantly accusing us of dismissing and living a life of sin.......nothing but pure poppycock......

Be diligent to make sure you're saved.
More lack of discernment.....No one needs to do this.....Jesus has already taken care of this issue by faith.......it is called biblical HOPE.....not your lottery type of hope.....

Biblical HOPE-->a confident expectation of something GUARANTEED.........

Folks....do not buy this false dime store gospel put out by Ralph......Salvation is secure in Christ, based upon the promises and power of Christ and is imparted unto all who genuinely exercise faith into the death, burial and resurrection of Christ......

Jesus said.....I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE NOR FORSAKE THEE
Jesus said.....I will LOSE NOTHING the FATHER has given me, but raise it up the last day
Jesus said.....He that believes on the SON is not condemned and is having everlasting life
Jesus said.....I am the resurrection and the life, he that believes in me though he were dead yet shall he live

The bible states...If we believe NOT (after initial belief) HE ABIDES FAITHFUL because he CANNOT DENY HIMSELF

DO NOT buy the deceit put out by these men who emphasize self, works and maintain their own salvation.....the bible is replete with eternal security and it is based upon the power, promises and work of CHRIST...to say one can lose it or forfeit it NEGATES all of the promises, power and work of Christ.........My God keeps his promises, is all powerful and if JESUS began a good work of faith in YOU HE WILL FINISH IT AND BRING IT TO COMPLETION!
