Avatars and Profile pics…really necessary?

I think it would be really boring if everyone did not put up some kind of expression of themselves. I really like seeing the different avatars and the pictures as well, in fact I think I like the pic. best, as it helps to see where the person is coming from. Keep' em coming!!

my profile pic is an illustration from Pilgrim's Progress - "Help" rescuing "Christian" from "the swamp of despair"
i suppose it's what i hoped i might be to someone by being a member here.

and my avatar.. well, that's actually more descriptive. lol.

no, don't sweat it -- i see no reason to put a real picture of myself up. i don't think i'm ugly or that i would attract undue attention; i guess i'm just shy, and thought too that another image might stand to do more good than a picture of my face. though maybe that thought was just me justifying my shyness..?
 
i actually take alot of pics of myself and they're all stored on my PC. so, its really easy to pick a random and add it as a profile or avatar personally, i dont approve the pics with your full face pouting your lips into the camera as if its the only pose you can think of. imagine posting a pic like that for all the guys to see. really? well, thats my argument?

now, i have a question.... if you need to put on a pic for your avatar....how do you keep it non-luring and unattractive???? hehe :D
