MAN....I am so glad the bible does not teach that I have to keep MYSELF saved....it is all his work and he tells us plainly that we are KEPT by HIS POWER....

ALL who say THEY have to KEEP themselves saved might as well get scissors and CUT that reference out of their bible.....and while they are at is cut the following out as well

a. Saved to the UTTERMOST
b. NEVER leave you or forsake you
c. Sealed with the H.S. of promise UNTIL the day of redemption
d. NOTHING can separate you from the love of GOD
e. In the Father's hand
f. In the Son's hand
g. Jesus starts and finishes and completes hos good work of faith in you
h. Whatsoever God does is eternal
I. ALL references to eternal and or everlasting life
etc....

HECK...why not just chunk the bible and write your own and start you own church....like

Hebrews 10

19Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 21And havingan high priest over the house of God; 22Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised 24And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
26For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; 33Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used. 34For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance. 35Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

We are to live by Faith, to be confident, to be patient, to believe unto the saving of our soul...

To Love GOD with all our being and our neighbour as ourself.

To provoke each other unto good works..

There is much we are to do through the Law of Faith.. but the law of works? No, the New wine is better.

Biblical faith as defined is different than, "Worldly Faith", that say's if I sit down in this chair I have faith that it will hold me up. Biblical faith is a gift from God to the believer, who then is able to do do many things for God as did Noah and many others; read Hebrews chapter 11 on people of Great Faith. God did not give us a measure of faith to believe and then change His mind and take our faith away. Losing one's faith, (salvation), is a man made idea by the twisting of biblical truth. He will not lose one precious person that He saves and makes new.

Biblical Faith Defined

Biblical Faith:
the object of our faith is God as revealed through His word, and it begins in our mind.

This assent to or belief in the truth received upon the divine testimony has always associated with it a deep sense of sin, a distinct view of Christ, a consenting will, and a loving heart, together with a reliance on, a trusting in, or resting in Christ. It is that state of mind in which a poor sinner, conscious of his sin, flees from his guilty self to Christ his Saviour, and rolls over the burden of all his sins on him.

Saving faith is so called because it has eternal life inseparably connected with it. It cannot be better defined than in the words of the Westminster Shorter Catechism:"Faith in Jesus Christ is a saving grace, whereby we receive and rest upon him alone for salvation, as he is offered to us in the gospel."

Saving faith is a moral act, as it proceeds from a renewed will, and a renewed will is necessary to believing assent to the truth of God (1 Corinthians 2:14 ;2 co4:4 ). Faith, therefore, has its seat in the moral part of our nature fully as much as in the intellectual. The mind must first be enlightened by divine teaching (John 6:44 ;Acts 13:48 ;2 co4:6
;Ephesians 1:17Ephesians 1:18 ) before it can discern the things of the Spirit.
Faith is necessary to our salvation (Mark 16:16 ), not because there is any merit in it, but simply because it is the sinner's taking the place assigned him by God, his falling in with what God is doing.

Faith is necessary to our salvation (Mark 16:16 ), not because there is any merit in it, but simply because it is the sinner's taking the place assigned him by God, his falling in with what God is doing.

Thanks for this TruthTalk...God willing tomorrow comes for me, I want to read Ephesians and I will start by praying the Lord will open my eyes and bring His word to light and teach me what I do not know...Often I was thinking to myself that I should know more , what I was doing was reading the bible all over the place, reading bits from one book, then going of into another book, I have been shown many things by our Lord, but I do believe I have been reading to much by my own leading and not relying on the Holy Spirit to lead me:rolleyes:...Now I believe I am being led to read Ephesians as EG stated because I have had an urge to keep telling me to search out who I am in Christ, so God willing I will read it tomorrow and re-read and pray and ponder...xox...

Hi all...I am just in the middle of reading Luke, but I have a rising coming up in me to learn more about who I am in Christ...I have learned so much from my bible about me being saved, and I have learned tons from posters in here that I am saved by Gods Grace through faith, and nothing that I do can be added to that, I am sealed, I am His child...But now I want to read about who I am, I know a bit but I know there is so much more but not sure where to read, I thought I would ask in here because I know someone will help me, now I know how I am saved, I want to know who I am:)...I believe this is what the Holy Spirit is wanting to show me, because as I keep reading through Luke, I keep asking Who am i ...xox...

Faith! Can they hold onto their faith?!?!?!!?

Nope...
I KNOW WHO CAN HOLD ON TO YOUR SALVATION, and it certainly is not SELF.

John 10:26-30 (CSBBible)
[SUP]26 [/SUP] But you don't believe because you are not of my sheep.
[SUP]27 [/SUP] My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me.
[SUP]28 [/SUP] I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand.
[SUP]29 [/SUP] My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
[SUP]30 [/SUP] I and the Father are one."

Jude 1:24-25 (CSBBible)
[SUP]24[/SUP][SUP] [/SUP] Now to him who is able to protect you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of his glory, without blemish and with great joy,
[SUP]25 [/SUP] to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power, and authority before all time, now and forever. Amen.

Hebrews 6:17-20 (CSBBible)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] Because God wanted to show his unchangeable purpose even more clearly to the heirs of the promise, he guaranteed it with an oath,
[SUP]18 [/SUP] so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to seize the hope set before us.
[SUP]19 [/SUP] We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.
[SUP]20 [/SUP] Jesus has entered there on our behalf as a forerunner, because he has become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek {both KING and HIGH PRIEST}.

This is no lie and I tell you the truth.

My wife and I went away for a weekend and stayed in a hotel.

Now I smoke and like a pint.

On this weekend away I went outside to have a cigar with a pint. Just on my own.

Will try to make this short.

Im smoking a cigar. A man comes up and asks for a light.
He has a yellow jacket on. I offer a light.
God says to me "Talk to him"
I ask him "Oh dear you got the late shift?

He says"No I'm out on parole"

I think oh
God says "ask him why"
Now I'm crapping myself.

but i did so.

Anyway turns out he is a believer or as he says was a believer but felt because of what he did he wasn't loved by God.
A long long chat ended up with me praying for him.

My wife sat upstairs was annoyed when I went back but when I explained what happened we found ourselves praising God and praying for this guy.

Here is a verse to write at the top of your Journal:

Philippians 1:6 (HCSB)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ
Jesus
.

John 14:16-18 (HCSB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor {the HOLY SPIRIT} to be with you forever.
[SUP]17 [/SUP] He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive Him because it doesn’t see Him or know Him. But you do know Him, because He remains with you and will be in you.
[SUP]18 [/SUP] I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (HCSB)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] Be strong and courageous; don’t be terrified or afraid of them. For it is the LORD your God who goes with you; He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:5-6 (HCSB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] Your life should be free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for He Himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you.
[SUP]6 [/SUP] Therefore, we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

Matthew 28:18-20 (CSBBible)
[SUP]18 [/SUP] Jesus came near and said to them, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.
[SUP]19 [/SUP] Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
[SUP]20 [/SUP] teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

1 John 4:4 (NKJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

I like to encourage New Believers to Read through the GOSPEL OF JOHN first, because John's Gospel focuses on the fact that Jesus is God in the flesh.

Then I like to have them read 1 John, because it focuses on what our Christian lifestyle should be like. Some find 1 John hard to understand because of the Fourth Primary Verb Tense (in the Greek) that John just Loved to use. It is the Perfect Tense, where English only has THREE Primary Verb Tenses, {past tense, present tense, and future tense}. That Greek Perfect Tense does not imply perfection, but rather an ongoing lifestyle of striving to do that verb. Most of the verbs in 1 John are in that Perfect ongoing lifestyle verb tense.

For Example: 1 John 1:9 (HCSB)
[SUP]9 [/SUP] If we confess {ongoing lifestyle of confessing each new sin} our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 2:3-5 (HCSB)
[SUP]3 [/SUP] This is how we are sure that we have come to know Him: by keeping {ongoing lifestyle of striving to keep} His commands.
[SUP]4 [/SUP] The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” yet doesn't keep {ongoing lifestyle of striving to keep} His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
[SUP]5 [/SUP] But whoever keeps {ongoing lifestyle of striving to keep} His word, truly in him the love of God is perfected. This is how we know we are in Him:

John 14:15 (HCSB)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] “If you love Me, you will keep {ongoing lifestyle of striving to keep} My commands.

And when we fail, we go back to 1 John 1:9 and confess it as sin and immediately get back to continually striving to Keep His Commands, BECAUSE WE LOVE HIM!

You are welcome Rosemaryx, it is good that you are reading your bible and how you do that is personal. I use to read a little bit from here and a little bit from there because I could not understand a lot of what was being said. Later you will be amazed how the word of God becomes so much apart of your life, even though it already has. When I was younger I was always confused in my life because of all the lying and cheating and two faced friends that I was hanging around with. I was thinking is this what life is all about, it left me sad, unhappy and wanting something more.

Our God given faith is more precious than gold, man did not give it to you and nobody can take it away.

God bless

Grow in Grace
by: Charles Spurgeon

"Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 3:18May

God the Holy Spirit enable you to "grow in the
knowledge of our Lord and Savior." He who does not grow in the knowledge of Jesus, refuses to be blessed. To know Him is "life eternal," and to advance in the knowledge of Him is to increase in happiness. He who does not long to know more of Christ; knows nothing of Him yet. Whoever has sipped this wine; will thirst for more; for although Christ does satisfy; yet it is such a satisfaction, that the appetite is not glutted—but whetted.

If you know the love of Jesus; as the deer pants for the water-brooks, so will you pant after deeper draughts of His love. If you do not desire to know Him better; then you love Him not, for love always cries, "Nearer, nearer!" Absence from Christ is hell; but the presence of Jesus is heaven.
Do not then, rest content without an ever increasing acquaintance with Jesus. Seek to know more of Him in His divine nature, in His human relationship, in His finished work, in His death, in His resurrection, in His present glorious intercession, and in His future royal advent. Abide close by the Cross, and search the mystery of His wounds. An increase of love to Jesus, and a more perfect apprehension of His love to us is one of the best tests of growth in grace.
