I know that you as a Christian are not 'in the flesh'. If you were still in the flesh you'd be an unbeliever (read the text, folks). But that hardly means your flesh is not raging.

Now that we are no longer 'in the flesh' we are to now 'walk in the Spirit'. Having the Spirit is not the same as walking in the Spirit. We got the Spirit at the moment of our salvation. Now we have to learn how to walk in it. And as you point out, just knowing you're already a new person in your deepest self is the place to start. By faith we act out what we know to be in our inner most self. That alone probably isn't going to be enough to change a person. God has set many obstacles up in our lives to learn the practicalities of believing in the truth of his ways and the reality of what he has made us deep inside.
Our Spirit is holy if Holy Spirit is present. :) Again, reckon or believe you have died with Jesus and His Cross, blood covering, and raised in resurrection life. Walk in His peace letting peace rule the life.

There is victory...and if one stumbles, no condemnation to hold one down or back...Get back up and go on. For God is for us, not against us.

The walking in Spirit is not being good, moral, and acting nice. It is Spiritual life in Him. And can be very exciting at times.

If I told you all the things...lol

I would delete this. But, that is me. Many are struggling with porn and this could be tempting.
I thought about that. I really did. I want to be sensitive to people, but at the same time the church needs to get out of adult programming. It's not okay. For my case, Netflix is close to boring set on the teenagers setting, but that's what we need to do to dwell in and enjoy the abundance of our salvation.

When the joy and abundance God gives his saved people is worth more than the thrill of the world and the flesh, that is when we shut off the world and tune into God. Until then we dwell as God's desperate and exiled people outside of the promised abundance.

I used to confront my mother all of the time, because she was despitefully using me and being very selfish.
It led to great and terrible rows.
No good ever came of it.

Then I tried very hard to just not get angry, but that was just whitewashing my tomb and walking in a hypocrisy that was blinded to the true condition of my heart.

Then He showed me a better way. To give up all my rights, my possessions, my clamoring for people to respect me, my life, to find it.

I have a burp from time to time, but mostly, I walk in peace and calm and soundness of emotions. :)
Well, whether or not we give them up in our mind...He has taken possession of you from the beginning. Not like being possessed. :) But, within as our helper. Holy Spirit will search the heart and let you know what needs to be addressed.

We rest and allow Him to work. I saw your posts from last night stunned. You had slipped back into condemnation and trying to work it out another way. It's common to do this...that is why we believe we have died with Him on a daily basis and empowered to live out of His life. Eventually our mind becomes one with His heart and is not needed unless we stumble. Then we do His Word all over again.

Keeping our first love is what I am talking about. The trials and tempations want to take our joy of salvation and make us bitter at them. We don't have to allow it.

Hi Phart...I love what you say here...It`s only when real life situations come that we can walk in the Spirit, show ourselves to be true to His word...Sometimes I think Ii know the Scriptures but have not yet an experience to walk them out as Lord commands us to...I love little nuggets like that:)...xox...
I find that head knowledge is useless and I mean completely.
Because then in the circumstances He places me in, I see that the head knowledge does me no good because I don't act according to that head knowledge but instead according to my flesh.

This leads to hungering and praying because I want to BE righteous in my heart.

The prayer leads to answering of my prayer, because He WANTS me to walk righteously.

I'm cringing...and I don't mean this to be condescending, really...but your regurgitating the lifeless, misguided rhetoric of the church. And that's because that's what you were taught. I'm not being mean. I'm your friend. I know you have the life of God in you in salvation. I'm just making a hard but true observation here. Somehow works got separated from the life of God in the church as if they are two separate subjects.

Rosemary has an awesome testimony of the renewed mind. And she's a babe growing rapidly in the kingdom.
She sure is.
A true blessing to this site and testimony to the amazing love and work of God in her.
I agree with you and have told her myself God is so going to use her.

Rosemary know that you are a true blessing and an amazing testimony to your Lord and our Lord.

Exactly... I agree. There is nowhere in the parable that makes that association.

Why is everyone assuming the parable is about salvation? If the premise is faulty, the conclusion will be also.

I'm sorry. I had not slipped back, I was sleuthing! I was trying to find something out. I received my answer but feel like since no one saw what I was trying to do, that I made them feel bad for me. But loveme1 answered well. So did...oh, I can't remember his name now, but he answered so well!

I must agree that we have taken a few steps backwards insteadof forward but this is not the Lord’s doing, it is our doing. The Lord gave usdirection and purpose through suggestions giving us the choice to follow them or not. I will include a few of them just to give you an idea of what I meant:

(Mal 3:5 KJV) And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress thehireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the
stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.

(Deu 24:19 KJV) When thou cuttest down thine harvest inthy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands.

(Deu 24:20 KJV) When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the
stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

(Deu 24:21 KJV) When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward: it shall be for the
stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

(Jer 7:6 KJV) If ye oppress not the
stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:

(Jer 22:3 KJV) Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the
stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

(Zec 7:10 KJV) And oppress not the widow, nor thefatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evilagainst his brother in your heart.

(Exo 22:21 KJV) Thou shalt neither vex a
stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

(Exo 23:9 KJV) Also thou shalt not oppress a
stranger:for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land ofEgypt.

(Lev 19:34 KJV) But the
stranger thatdwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt lovehim as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD yourGod.

(Lev 25:35 KJV) And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallenin decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a
stranger,or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.

(Deu 1:16 KJV) And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously betweenevery man and his brother, and the
stranger that is with him.

(Deu 10:18 KJV) He doth execute the judgment ofthe fatherless and widow, and loveth the
stranger, in giving him foodand raiment.

(Deu 10:19 KJV) Love ye therefore the
stranger:for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

The Lord was speaking to a select group of people & it was their duty to follow His instructions and should they follow his instructions peace would envelope the world.

Now I ask, who were the people He was talking too and last but not least, have they or are they following His instructions?

The desire to be righteous within is purging but again by blood. Peter addresses this. Colossians too I think.

There are so many other scriptures of the simplicity of salvation, yet folks continue to return to the complex for answers. Or look to scriptures that may or may not speak to that for which they are searching for answers.

You can't do it in your oun strenght but you can choose to let God do it in you. Focus on Jesus and as you come closer and closer to Him you will recieve His Spirit which will give you power to overcome. It may not happen overnight but keep praying and spending time in the word and you will come closer.
And here he is, the one who answered so well! Sorry I didn't remember your name. :)

I disagree. I do not want to just be saved. I want to do and act righteously in my heart.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. They will be filled. :)

lol..no am speaking out of experience Phart. Being nice, and good is an upright life. Those of the OT lived this kind of life but no Spiritual life within. One can be good...but the heart be black by the thoughts.

Walking in the Spirit means just what it says. How did Jesus do it? There you will find the true answer.

The nature of our relationship with Jesus is the desire to love and be loved, to share
and serve. Taking things fully, to not desire this is to miss Christ and the cross.

Carrying ones cross daily is this love working its way through.

Heb_1:3  Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Heb_9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Heb_10:2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

2Pe_1:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

Oh what joy I have had in talking with you guys this morning and afternoon!
I have to go to listen to some blues and jazz. It was a 30.00 ticket bought for me by someone else. If it wasn't, I would definitely be staying with you guys instead of going!

I"ll peek back in after I get ready. :)
