Why do you feel you do not deserve grace and salvation and then tell people you do not deserve it? what is your motive in saying and thinking that you do not deserve Grace or what Jesus did for you...not a trap, just a conversation...
What I find intersting is that people can feel they don't deserve it but reverse to others.

"God loves you so much he was willing to die for you"

i think its semantics on "deserve"
EG you are reading, which is fine...

If you remain feeling unworthy and undeserving of what he did for you, after you receive what he did for you, then you have no business talking about grace, because you have failed to understand what it really is...I mean that in the most non judgemental or harsh way....

If you still feel unworthy after being washed in the blood, you are engaging in false humility, which is the absolute darkest form of pride there is...and puts the focus right back on self and not God and many engage in this and wonder why nothing ever changes.....

de·serve
dəˈzərv/Submit
verb
do something or have or show qualities worthy of (reward or punishment).

to me this can mean two things....

do something. OR be worthy of

well God knows the end from the beginning
to say i deserve it because i would put my faith in Jesus
is different
than i deserved to be called out of my sinful life style (at a time when i had no desire to) and follow Jesus... because i earned it?

and neither of these without Gods grace would qualify me to make it into heaven

Hi NNG

Your not being rude at all. You are just talking about what you feel or understand and willing to discuss.
Nothing wrong with that at all.

I would say yes he did feel we deserved it, after all he created us.

Before Jesus went to the cross he asked the Father "If it is possible please let this cup pass me by, but according to your will let it be done"

I would say yes he felt we deserved it because when Jesus hung on that cross he said

"Father forgive them for they don't know what they are doing"
"My God my God why have your forsaken me"
Then he gave up his last breath.

My thoughts are that if we did not deserve it then he would have wiped us out.
My thoughts are we do not deserve it, but he loved us in spite of that, and that's why he did it, out of love.

Does God love us because we deserve to be loved?

Or does He love us because it is His nature to love?

I don't know about deserved. Am thinking that's a wrong word. But, I can tell you with all confidence that we aren't worthy, but He has made us worthy. Those were the exact words from Holy Spirit to me when I was being tormented in mind that I wasn't worthy.

Its his nature, yet some don't get it for themselves but will tell others it's his nature and that he loves them dearly.

maybe youre thinking he felt i was WORTH it

but not that i DESERVED it?
I might not be making this clear and that would be my fault...all I am saying is this...

You deserved what Jesus did for you and you deserved all of God's grace, because he thought you were worth it.

Like Bill said, if we did not deserve it, then he would have just wiped us all out or Jesus would have simply jumped off the Cross and said..ya know, they are not worth it and they do not deserve your grace or what I am doing....

Now, listen careful and do not think I am not condemning you, because you are being uber brave in this discussion and I applaud that...

The only voice that says you are not worth it or deserve it is the one that accuses us day and night....but Jesus pleads our case to Father and tells Father...Father.....The devil is the father of lies and he is lying now...Father your grace and my work on the cross was for NNM and I shed my blood for him and took his sin and NNM has my righteousness....The devil is liar....

You deserved what Jesus did for you and you deserved all of God's grace, because he thought you were worth it.

Welcome to the battlefield:cool:
Yes and thank you, I am an Army veteran and feel right at home; a true soldier never leaves
his sword aside;

"Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians6:17

Love Scotland beautiful country.

NNMG, I have never seen you display false humility even once. And believe me, I know false humility because I lived in it for years.

Part of our wonderment at His love to us is that we DIDN'T deserve it.

yep, because we cannot ever forgive us...because we are taught to view ourselves as Satan sees us not how Father sees us....

this is a foundational truth hid from many..and argued and negated all the time...

If all are deserving, then who are the "lost" in your view? I only ask because you seemed to have a different definition than others here... Could you please clarify?

I have a hard time saying I deserve anything, that would tend to lead people to be proud, and to me be dangerous.

God thought I was worth it does not mean I deserved it, he means he thought I was worth his love,

i guess the word word is what the problem is.

I deserve death, because that is what I have earned.

I just don't like that word deserve either. We are precious to Him...worthy to Him because He viewed us of worth to save. But, deserved does sound like we did something to earn just as someone said...I think it was McGee but not sure.

How much plainer does one have to make this? why don't you clarify?

"God loves you so much he was willing to die for you"
i feel EVEN THOUGH i didnt deserve it he STILL loved me enough to die for everyone

and give us all a way out

but from a perspective... what was it i did to deserve it?

if we are looking at deserve as something God shows grace to...

well...
lol then i suppose by God i deserve it

but my personal definition of deserve is = to earn

so its hard for me to make a stretch like that
