I really think you are misunderstanding, misinterpreting what they, and I, and others are saying.

The done deal is eternal life, we are not yet glorified, it is HIS perfection in us, His gift because we have believed in Him, that we cannot save ourselves, behold the lamb who takes away the sins of the world.

Be like a child, dispense of all that you have learned and read what they are saying without a set of prior beliefs and you will see the Truth shining through.
you dont recieve eternal life until you are glorified....that what you dont understand...we have eternal life as it stands yes as long as we stay connected to his vine... what your colleagues are suggesting is we have allready recieved it.. the done deal..

As in Molech? The false god the Israelites worshipped by making an idol of the serpent staff that preformed the miracle of healing instead of worshipping God?
Just as moses lifted up the snake in wilderness so to was the son of man lifted up..that is written... have no idea what your making reference to....

Us to must be born of the glorified body waiting in heaven for us befor we have eternal life... best interprataion ive seen is this Answer:

Throughout the wilderness wanderings of the Israelites, God was constantly teaching them things about Himself and about their own sinfulness. He brought them into the wilderness, to the same mountain where He revealed Himself to Moses, so that He could instruct them in what He required of them. Shortly after the amazing events at Mt. Sinai, God brought them to the border of the Promised Land, but when the people heard the reports from the spies, their faith failed. They said that God could not overcome the giants in the land. As a result of this unbelief, God sent them into the wilderness to wander until that generation died out (Numbers 14:28-34).

In Numbers 21, the people again got discouraged, and in their unbelief they murmured against Moses for bringing them into the wilderness. They had already forgotten that it was their own sin that caused them to be there, and they tried to blame Moses for it. As a judgment against the people for their sin, God sent poisonous serpents into the camp, and people began to die. This showed the people that they were the ones in sin, and they came to Moses to confess that sin and ask for God's mercy. When Moses prayed for the people, God instructed him to make a bronze serpent and put it on a pole so the people could be healed (Numbers 21:5-7).

God was teaching the people something about faith. It is totally illogical to think that looking at a bronze image could heal anyone from snakebite, but that is exactly what God told them to do. It took an act of faith in God's plan for anyone to be healed, and the serpent on the stick was a reminder of their sin which brought about their suffering. There is no connection between this serpent and the serpent which Satan spoke through in the Garden of Eden. This serpent was symbolic of the serpents God used to chastise the people for their unbelief.

A couple of additional lessons are taught in the Bible regarding this bronze serpent. The people did get healed when they looked at the serpent, and the image was kept for many years. Many years later, when the Israelites were in the Promised Land, the serpent became an object of worship (2 Kings 18:4). This shows how easy it is for us to take the things of God and twist them into idolatry. We must never worship the tools or the people God chooses to use, but always bring the honor and glory to God alone.

The next reference we find in the Bible to this serpent is in John 3:14. Jesus indicated that this bronze serpent was a foreshadowing of Him. The serpent, a symbol of sin and judgment, was lifted up from the earth and put on a tree, which was a symbol of a curse (Galatians 3:13). The serpent lifted up and cursed symbolized Jesus, who takes away sin from everyone who would look to Him in faith, just like the Israelites had to look to the upraised symbol in the wilderness. Paul is reminding the Galatians that Jesus became a curse for us, although He was blameless and sinless—the spotless Lamb of God. “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Hezekiah Destroys Idolatry in Judah
(2 Chronicles 29:1-2)

1Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. 2Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah. 3And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did. 4He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan. 5He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him. 6

it is the same as the brazen serpent that was lifted up in the wilderness; they were dying, being righteously judged, by serpents, and were healed by looking to the image of one. we died by the lusts of the flesh & the eyes, and the pride of life, but were healed by looking to God in the image of man.
He took on our curse upon Himself, Himself undeserving of judgement, and stands in the gap making restitution for us

Just a question here meg an honest one.. on the tenth day of the seventh month you must rest and deny your self of work which ive missed,, i never knew this,,, anyhows as this is revering to the old t ,, there sins where removed without animal sacrifice meaning Gods grace was sufficient then ?. let me elaberate..

On the tenth day of the seventh month you must deny yourselves and not do any work—whether native-born or a foreigner residing among you...

Obviously this scripture is for both Jew and gentile the whole world... we are to dedicate a day once a year to the Lord an lasting ordanance it is called.. tell me have you done this.. this is obviously a very sacred day that is holy and not law ?..

This is where being under the law is an easy believist wouldnt you say ? ill elaberate..

There is two sides to the old testement one which moral law and one which is a holy law of the spirit.

tell why do so many dish the holy laws for moral laws ?

why do so many not read this and say we can be forgiven for following the holy law ?
These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. It is called the New Covenant, Jimbo. It is superior to the old and has better promises. Christ bought me with His blood and made me free from the Law. Are you still under the old covenant law? I am not. I am purchased by the shed righteous blood of Christ my Lord, who gave Himself as an atoning sacrifice for my sins. Jesus invited me to find my rest in Him. Scriptures say that the law was a burden that nobody could bear, but you call it easy? The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

I believe in the absolute Good News

Jesus has restored fellowship to us that have believed in THIS life and He has given us His righteousness and His grace so that we do not need to struggle under the weight of sin and self-effort in this life.

The Truth that I am reiterating for you, here time and time again, is not about my wanting to stay in sin or being lazy, it is about about wanting freedom from the power of sin and self effort.

All of us have to search our own hearts to see if that is want we want...but it absolutely means laying down self and relying on Jesus and yes His Grace is sufficient because it comes from Him.

Do you think He is going to close down the well (grace) and tell us we have had enough to drink?

And do you think that having tasted His grace one would want to continue in sin?

What gets in the way of coming to the well is thinking we can battle sin apart from Him.

I can tell you right now it is a battle we are destined to loose if we think we can do it in our self-effort.

Isaiah 49:10

"They will not hunger or thirst, Nor will the scorching heat or sun strike them down; For He who has compassion on them will lead them And will guide them to springs of water.

So Jimbo for you salvation is eternal life?

For me salvation is renewed relationship with God. Therefore salvation is a current and future state.

For me eternal life without that relationship would be hell.

I was pondering how to give my thoughts concerning the pole and serpent.
I don't think I can add anything to what you have said. And I won't attempt to.

Very well said.

Yes except the little red hen only shared with her chicks after doing all the work, Jesus has called ALL men and women to partake of His finished work.

His love is not dependent on us loving Him, He loves us First and therefore calls all to believe in and partake of the fruits of His labour

doing nothing and just receiving? hmmm, sounds like the story of the little red hen..........

This is very interesting, so are you saying that Eve did have lust of the eyes before she ate the fruit, so sin was present before the actual act of disobeying God's command?

This is very interesting, so are you saying that Eve did have lust of the eyes before she ate the fruit, so sin was present before the actual act of disobeying God's command?

i wasn't saying any of that, but i agree that is an interesting question: when did Eve sin? when she, being deceived, believed the serpent? when she doubted what Adam must have told her about what God said ((God gave the command not to eat of the tree, Gen. 2:17, before the Woman was formed, Gen. 2:21-22, so it's reasonable, though not certain, to assume that she only heard the command second-hand, from Adam))? or not until the moment she ate?

Christ tells us that sin is in the heart, before any action takes place. was sin already in Eve's heart when she "
saw that the fruit of the tree was good to for food and pleasing to the eye" ? this phrasing certainly does sound strikingly similar to "the lust of the flesh and of the eye" - and a person could argue that the Serpent had stirred up in her "the pride of life" by suggesting that eating it would make her "like God"

but even if we accept that sin was in her before she actually took from the tree, this analysis doesn't mean sin was in her before the Serpent deceived her. as life enters us through the hearing of the Word of God, sin and death may have entered her through hearing, and receiving, the words of the Evil One.

i don't know. these things are beyond me. what i've written here isn't necessarily what i believe is the truth of what happened; it's only me '
thinking out loud' about them. i didn't mean to make the implications you gathered from what i said, but i'm not able to say for sure that they aren't true.

Hi again Rosemary,

You got that Right! About how the evil one lurks right outside, sometimes even sneaking his way in.

That battle you spoke of, the one in my mind, the term"wrong thinking" is what I call it. It is too. It opposes and contradicts the True and Inerrant Word of God at every turn. I, however, do not intend to let that continue gor I can confidently say "Get thee behind me, satan, in the Power invoked by the Holy Name of Jesus, Who has overcome & through Whom I can also." :)

What you said about how one feels is no basis for believing its True is exactly Right, too! Feelings are, as you said, unreliable for any such basis. The part I liked most was about Scripture on how one feels is not really that helpful. You know what, though? That's what I've been doing. I like your idea better - to focus on God's Real, True, & Unfailing Love.

We are redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb. Glory and Praise be to God in the Highest forever and ever!

Thank you for being an instrument of God on my behalf.

Hi DRose!

I never looked at the Fruits of the Spirit as one with many facets. What came to mind just now is a comparison of that statement with the Body of Christ - One body, many members, all working together to further the Kingdom of God. Same thing as the Fruits of the Spirit - One fruit, many facets; all working together within each of us to further the Kingdom of God. I think that's rather cool. :)

Your post DRose has done wonders. I believe I have True Knowledge of God the Father, & of The Son, & of the Holy Spirit as each Person has been revealed to me thus far through God's Own Gracious Revelation of Himself to mankind - the Holy Word. I know I couldn't say, "Jesus is Lord", & I do, believe me, & I believe it wholeheartedly, except by the Precious Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 12:3).

I must confess that I did, indeed, forget the Purification of my former sins, & lapsed back into thinking I needed to "do better" in order to be worthy. Wrong thinking in other words. No more, DRose. :) My eyes will be, from now on, turned to, & fixed upon, The One through Whom I can do all things Who strengthens me.

I can't really express my gratitude for the much-needed "Friendly Reminder". God bless you for allowing yourself to be used as a vessel to further the Kingdom of God. :)
