Regardless of what one's position is on this, the teaching that the sons of God were the sons of Seth, has no scriptural basis or logical basis. It is an illogical teaching that requires adding to the story what is not there. If one does not believe that angels cohabited with humans, then believe that way, but do not stoop to making up an illogical story and trying to place it in the bible.

I have done this to you a number of times, but here goes.

1) No men in Gen 1-6, or indeed in the OT, are ever called bene Elohim.
2) In gen 2 & 3 God addresses 'the Elohim' (the heavenly court) as 'we' and 'us'. (No Old Testament person would have dreamed of the Trinity). Thus the 'bene Elohim' are most likely related to them.
3). In 1 sam 28.13 when the medium saw the dead Samuel appear she said, 'I saw an Elohim appearing out of the earth.'
4). In Job 1 & 2 Satan appeared with the bene Elohim before God.
5). In Job 'the morning stars sang together and all the bene Elohim shouted for joy'.
6). When the 'bene elohim' enter into a relationship with the 'daughters of 'adam' in chapter 6
we require an explanation for the unusual offspring. The are not just natural offspring,
7). The sudden appearance of the Nephilim in parallel with the bene Elohim suggest the two are related.
8). When God says of those responsible for the evil which has been wrought in and by men, 'they also are flesh', it suggests there were flesh beings who were not men (angels who had taken fleshly form).

Before 4th century ad EVERYONE thought the bene Elohim were angels. Thus the Jewish inter-Testamental literature which spoke of fallen angels and men co-habiting. Thus also 2 Peter. You who use the term of the sons of Seth are relatively new on the scene.

.

But you HAVE twisted the storyline trying to make out that the sons of men are only Cainites when there are no grounds for it at all

we do not believe in huge postings when it can be explained quite simply and easily in less. Nor do we consider the subject merits it. Our exegesis is quickly gathered by anyone interested, YOUR studies are just a laugh.

You ignore the context and just look for items which you can twist to mean what you want. Gen 6.1-4 is so obviously speaking of supernatural beings that it hardly merits the trouble we have taken in criticising your approach.

good.

In 1Samuel the word is not elohim...It's elohim olim which simply comes out as spirit ones, not sons of God Still it does prove that they are not men.
Your point that the Bnei HaElohim appeared before God...The Father is in His throne room. That's where the bible puts Him.
Therefore the sons of God cannot be men...

And Job 38! Man was not made yet, so it cannot be men shouting for joy as the stars sang

I do like your stance on this

It seems easy to see Saul was seeking to commune with God who was already cut off from all communication and therefore sought after a god of his mind (will worship) enticed by the father of lies through necromancy. LOL I merely pointed out that the witch of Endor thought she had seen Elohim. That showed that Elohim meant familiar spirits, among other things, ie supernatural characters.

So all your talk about Saul was a waste of time.

But it does show the sons of the elohim (those who were like the elohim) were supernatural beings.

Makes a great Bible study, so it’s not a waste to me. Join in?

Its gods plural as in legion. It’s the way the legion always comes up and needs someone to put a face as an idol (teraphim) so then they can believe they have the right one. It gives the illusion a person is speaking to another person, and not just speaking to the air.

Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods (many Legion) ascending out of the earth. And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. 1Sa 28:11-14

(Worshipping fallen angel as a figment of his imagination coming from his fleshly mind)

.But it does show the sons of the elohim (those who were like the elohim) were supernatural Beings.
Only God alone is supernatural (without a beginning) angels are created beings as spirits not seen (no dna... corrupted Terrestrial)

The legion is not like God singular, it represents many (Legion) It is rather like Satan that not seen .Gods do not have a form. Someone (witch) must reveal what they hoped would come to pass as the father of lies reveals subjecting his (not seen) thoughts in the witch. Angels do not have DNA as a rudiment of this world

God sent Saul who the Holy Spirit refused to commune with a strong delusion so Saul could keep believing the lie. Bowing down to the legion shows he was worshipping a fallen angels by his fleshly mind in which we are warned of

Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands havingCol 2:18

This shows Saul's unbelief (no faith) does not come from the mouth of God. The word seek used in that way is the word Necromancy. It’s why Christ asked, what its name (singular) was. That information is needed to understand that parables below.

Mark 5:9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

Mark 5:15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

Luke 8:30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name?(singular) And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

Deuteronomy 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.

Perhaps what you offered to me below you should apply it your own self.

You are absolutely correct Denadii. I might also add that those in the resurrection become like the holy angels in heaven, which neither marry nor are given in marriage. Fallen angels are a different story. I truly believe that the angels that are spoken of in 2 Pet.2:4 and Jude 6 who were put in chains of darkness in Tartartus until the great white throne judgment, are those angels who took wives.

"Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose."

"The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown."

In the scriptures above, there is a distinction made between mankind and the sons of God, ergo, the sons of god are not of the same genre as mankind.

Below is Enoch's version of Genesis 6:1

"It happened after the sons of men had multiplied in those days, that daughters were born to them, elegant and beautiful. And when the angels, the sons of heaven, beheld them, they became enamored of them, saying to each other: Come, let us select for ourselves wives from the progeny of men, and let us beget children. - Enoch 7:1-2

Below is the International Standard version translation:"Now after the population of human beings had increased throughout the earth, and daughters had been born to them, some divine beings noticed how attractive human women were, so they took wives for themselves from a selection that pleased them."

Below is Enoch's account of Genesis 6:1-4 in detail:

===============================================

It happened after the sons of men had multiplied in those days, that daughters were born to them, elegant and beautiful. And when the angels, the sons of heaven, beheld them, they became enamored of them, saying to each other: Come, let us select for ourselves wives from the progeny of men, and let us beget children.

Then their lead Samyaza said to them; I fear that you may perhaps be indisposed to the performance of this enterprise; and that I alone shall suffer for grievous a crime. But they all answered him and said: We all swear; and bind ourselves by mutual execrations, that we will not change our intention, but execute our projected undertaking.

Then they all swore all together, and all bound themselves by mutual execrations. Their whole number was two hundred, who descended upon Ardis, which is the top of mount Armon. That mountain, therefore, they called Armon, because they had sworn upon it, a nd bound themselves by mutual execrations.

These are the names of their chiefs: Samyaza, who was their leader, Urakabarameel, Akibeel, Tamiel, Ramuel, Danel, Azkeel, Sarakuyal, Asael, Armers, Batraal, Annane, Zavebe, Samsaveel, Ertael, Turel, Yomyael, Arazyal. These were the prefects of the two hundred angels, and the remainder were all with them.

Then they took wives, each choosing for himself; whom they began to approach, and with whom they cohabited; teaching them sorcery, incantation and the dividing of roots and trees:

And they conceiving brought forth giants; whose stature was each three hundred cubits. These devoured all which the labor of men produced; until it became impossible to feed them; when they turned themselves against men, in order to devour them; and began to injure birds, beast, reptiles and fishes, to eat their flesh one after another, and to drink their blood.

Then the earth reproved the unrighteousness.

Moreover Azazyel taught men to make swords, knives, shields, breastplates, made them see that which was behind them and the workmanship of bracelets and ornaments, the use of paint, the beautifying of the eyebrows, the use of stones of every valuable and select kind, and of all sorts of dyes, so that the world became altered. Impiety increased; fornication multiplied; and the transgressed and corrupted all their ways.

Amazarak taught all the sorcerers, and dividers of roots; Armers taught the solution of sorcery; Barkayal taught the observers of the stars; Akibeel taught signs; Tamiel taught astronomy; and Asaredel taught the motion of the moon. And men, being destroyed, cried out; and their voice reached to heaven.

Then Michael and Gabriel, Raphael, Suryal and Uriel, looked down from heaven and saw the quantity of blood which was shed on the earth, and all the iniquity which was done upon it, and said one to another: It is the voice of their cries; The earth deprived of her children has cried even to the gates of heaven.

===============================================

God's response to what the angels had done by taking wives and all that they taught:

===================================================

Then the Most High, the Great and Holy One spoke; And sent Arsayalalyur to the son of Lamech (Noah), Saying: Say to him in my name; Conceal thyself. Then explain to him the consummation which is about to take place; for all the earth shall perish; the waters of a deluge shall come over the whole earth, and all things which are in it shall be destroyed. And now teach him how he may escape, and how his seed may remain in all the earth.

Again the Lord said to Raphael: Bind Azazyel hand and foot; cast him into darkness; and opening the desert which is in Dudael, (Tartartus) cast him in there. Throw upon him hurled and pointed stones; covering him with darkness; There shall he remain forever; cover his face, that he may not see the light. And in the great day of judgment (Rev.20:10, Matt.25:41)

Restore the earth, which the angels have corrupted; and announce life to it, that I may revive it.

All the sons of men shall not perish in consequence of every secret, by which the Watchers have destroyed, and which they have taught their offspring.

All the earth has been corrupted by the teaching of the work of Azazyel. To him therefore ascribe the whole crime.

To Gabriel also the Lord said: Go to the biters, to the reprobates, to the children of fornication; and destroy the children of fornication; the offspring of the Watchers, from among men; bring them forth, and send them one against another. Let them perish by mutual slaughter; for length of days shall not be theirs.

They shall all entreat thee, but their fathers shall not obtain their wishes respecting them; for they shall hope for eternal life, and that they may live, each of them, five hundred years.

To Michael likewise the Lord said: Go and announce his crime to Samyaza, and to the others who are with him, who have been associated with women, that they might be polluted with all their impurity. And when all their sons shall be slain, when they shall see the perdition of their beloved, bind them for seventy generations underneath the earth (2 Pet.2:4, Jude 6), even to the day of judgment, and of consummation , until the judgment, the effect of which will last forever, be completed.

======================================================

This was just a little excerpt form Enoch regarding the sons of God, those angels who took wives from the progeny of mankind and all that they taught and thereby corrupting mankind, which was the main reason for the flood. These angels, the sons of God, are also who 2 Pet.2:4 and Jude 6 is referring to.

Thank you for further proving my point, not only did you go out of the context of the storyline, the overall context of the storyline, you when out of the sola scripture storyline. I like the way you inserted Bible books with chapter and verse to show what you think is about the storyline in Genesis, but I see no mention of Adam, Cain, Zillah, Maamah, Lameech, Seth, Enoch, Noah, Shem or any other character of the storyline. It's just a story about some mythical beings that have nothing to do with Genesis 4:11-7:16. It mentions lots of characters but not one of them is mentioned in Genesis 4:11-6:13 unless I missed something.

So the book of Enoch proves nothing it only proves that no one can go from Genesis 4:11-6:1 and show how the context of the storyline shows fallen angels, it's takes lots of
eisegesis to both storylines to make it all fit, you have do an eisegesis number on the book of Enoch to make it fit the Genesis storyline, since there are no mentions of any character in the book of Enoch that is in Genesis and no mention of anyone in the book of Genesis that fits the book of Enoch.

So
again we have a very long rabbit trail that leads to the game place, no one can take the storyline of Genesis and come to the contextual conclusion of the storyline to make fallen angels fit the context or someone would of speared us all of this non-sense. I will give you credit at least you didn't chop up my explanation of the context of the storyline.

What has interested my is as we've been doing this, I've been looking for some books on totally different subjects and some of the authors I'm looking at wrote books on the Seed of the women or something similar the Messiah and they all mention the sons of God as those carrying the righteous Seed of the women, how this righteous line carried it to the birth of Christ, shown in the genealogies given for Christ in Luke and Matthew. What's really strange is the books I'm looking for are on salvation and prophecy and they all say it as a matter of fact. No going here and there to prove the point. When you think about it both of those subjects thou they sound as thou they are unrelated, they are because they are both about Jesus and that is the overall storyline of the Bible, from the prophecy of the women Seed to Christ's birth, to His return, it's all about Him.

I see it more that you added something...gloring in the flesh as if it could profit something.Even Chrst of his own corrupted flesh said it profits for nothing

There is no need to look at the corrupted flesh of those men .The gospel is not after the physical, fleshly, corrupted seeds (many the human race) but the spiritual seed (one Christ).

Again not that it is after the flesh of any man (seeds) but is after the seed of the gospel Christ. Abel is the first used to represent the gospel He had favor (mercy) on Abel but not Cain. That was the seed .it first representative was killed God gave another to replace the first example.

It is why the Spirit of Christ named him Seth

Gen 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed (Christ as in one) "instead of" Abel, whom Cain slew.

They represented the seed (Christ) not seen, the spiritual, it was not in lieu of them.

Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

[FONT=&quot]Two New Testament passages shed further light on Genesis 6. They
are Jude 6-7 and 2 Peter 2:4. These verses indicate that at some point
in time a number of angels fell from their pristine state and proceeded
to commit a sexual sin that was both unusual and repugnant. Jude
6-7 states: “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left
their Own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under
darkness unto the judgement of the great day. Even as Sodom and
Gomorrah and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh...”
These angels not only failed to keep their original dominion and
authority, but they “left their own habitation.” Habitation is a significant word: it means “dwelling place” or “heaven.” And the addition
of the Greek word idi (their own) means that they left their own private, personal, unique possession.68 Heaven was the private, personal
residence of the angels. It was not made for man but for the angels.
This is why the ultimate destination of the saints will not be Heaven
but the new and perfect Earth which God will create (Revelation
21:1-3). Heaven is reserved for the angels, but as for the beings
referred to in Jude 6-7, they abandoned it.
Not only did these angels leave Heaven, they left it once-for-all.
The Greek verb apoleipo is in the aorist tense, thus indicating a oncefor-all act. By taking the action they did, these angels made a final and
irretrievable decision. They crossed the Rubicon. Their action, says
Kenneth Wuest, “was apostasy with a vengeance.”69
As to the specific sin of these angels, we are given the facts in
Jude 7. As in the case of Sodom and Gomorrah it was the sin of
“fornication” and “going after strange flesh.” “Strange” flesh means
flesh of a different kind (Greek heteros). To commit this particularly
repugnant sin, the angels had to abandon their own domain and
invade a realm that was divinely forbidden to them. Says Wuest:
“These angels transgressed the limits of their own natures to invade
a realm of created beings of a different nature.”70 Alford confirms:
“It was a departure from the appointed course of nature and seeking after that which is unnatural, to other flesh than that appointed
by God for the fulfillment of natural desire.” The mingling o f these
two orders of being, was contrary to what God had intended, and
summarily led to God’s greatest act of judgement ever enacted upon
the human race.

The angels that sinned are compared to the men who had sinned in Sodom, the men of Sodom were having sex but in a way different then what they were created to do. So this would imply that the angels were having sex that they were not created to have, with human women.

The angels are referred to as sons of God, but human believers are also called the sons of God, read Romans 8:14 as an example. It's wrong to conflate Genesis chapter 6 with Jude 6. Jude 7 compares the angel's abandonment of their holy position before God through their rebellion with the men of Sodom's abandonment of the natural function of the woman for each other. The point is that both groups have and will come under God's judgment for their separate transgressions. These angels (spirit beings) are now bound in chains in darkness, reserved for the day of judgment, and the men of Sodom and Gomorrah (their sins done in the flesh) were destroyed in judgment by fire.

That's what? Someone that agrees with you, look at the context, the comparison is judgement, not sex.

"Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward "destroyed those who did not believe."6 And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day—7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire."

What is the beginning of the context, what is in quotation marks. The angels were judged immediately for leaving their original place of authority, no where does it mention they were judges for sex. The --- keeps Sodom and Gomorrah in relation to the angels not the other way around, they are being compared to the angels, not the angels being compared to Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities--comma-- now a separate thought in relation to the thought before this one. Sodom and Gomorrah and the
cities around them indulged in unnatural desirers, why are they brought into the context, because they were judged just like the angels.

Theses thoughts do not run together as what is trying to be shown, here's is an article on semicolons, colons and dashes, with commas in there as well. Since it seems as though everyone that wants to link the angels to Sodom, Gomorrah and the surrounding cities. I think reading this will help understand why the translates used these punctuation marks they are not there just because, they are there for a reason, it called grammar. So that the message is not read the way it should not be read, it's to make sure that you read
the context so that it is not missed, but followed.

Jude writes why the angels were judged, because they left their first estate and when they did that they were reserved in eternal chains of gloomy darkness until the judgement, if you read what Pete says about them, they were cast into Taratus as well. This is nothing more than an eisegesis of the Scripture to fit what you already believe. This has nothing to do with Genesis 6, the angels here were reserved instantly and not for anything to do with Genesis 6.

I hate to be
redundant but if all that is posted is redundant than I must respond in the same manor. Why won't anyone deal with the context of the storyline, because it does not come out to fallen angels in Genesis 6:2, 4, it does not fit the context of the Scripture before them or after them. That is why no one will do it, because if they did it would prove me right and they would have to change their minds as to what they believe which I do not get, why wouldn't you want to believe what the Bible says in context.

Hey Johnny B...I was just wondering.....How does one get to know everything? Like How did you get to know everything?
I can't speak for Johnny B but as far myself, I asked.

She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.Prov 3:18

So how do you answer your own question? Considering Job 32:3 then if you don't have an answer then at least have the decency to make something up.

[SUP]Job 32:3 [/SUP]"His anger also blazed up against his three friends, because they had found no answer to Iyov but condemned him anyway."

ROFL This is a thing Christians too all the time...Even in this forum..

Prov 3:13-18 Happy the person who finds wisdom,
the person who acquires understanding;
[SUP]14 [/SUP]for her profit exceeds that of silver,
gaining her is better than gold,
[SUP]15 [/SUP]she is more precious than pearls —
nothing you want can compare with her.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Long life is in her right hand,
riches and honor in her left.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]She is a tree of life to those who grasp her;
whoever holds fast to her will be made happy.

I just took the entire thought instead of one verse. Why? That way we can get the entire thought. And this is such a good one! One must keep in mind though, that, even in the Word, Wisdom knowledge are not the same. Wisdom is the knowing what to do with knowledge..

as to answering my own question? The answer is 'I wish I knew how to get to know everything' On the other hand, the pursuit of knowledge is a blast!
