When I was a kid my friend used to pick them up and remove one of their legs because it would keep twitching for awhile after it was removed...and he said they grow back anyway.. They are the one spider that I actually am fond of.

I used to pick up Daddy Long Legs when I was a kid lol. My rule is that if they're outside and they're harmless(not a fiddleback or black widow), then I leave them alone. But you don't see me walking into a Lion's den or Bear's cave... don't be crawling into my house and getting into my space. Ya messed up.
On a side note, that Luna Moth I found is somehow still on my house in the very same spot. But its head is gone and so is part of its wings. I blame that spider.
Awww don't kill daddy long legs. They actually eat other spiders and insects and they are good for plants too.
Anyway...I just want everyone to know that I don't eat like that for breakfast everyday....

I've heard scientists aren't actually certain what all Daddy Long-legs eat. I've heard that they suspect they don't actually hunt much, but rather scavenge off of bugs that are already dead.
I personally have never seen one catch/kill prey before, but I have observed one walking around and carrying/munching on the leg of a rather large (too large for it to have killed by itself), deceased grasshopper with its mandibles.

Ehehehehhe... Fiddlebacks/brown recluse... I've had maaaaaany run-ins with those dudes. Never got bitten, thankfully. They like to live in the old bird pens out in my backyard. One time my brother and I were going to remove some old brown paper feed sacks out of the backyard. I told him to put on gloves because there would be brown recluse everywhere in the pile. When we were done moving the bags, I took photos of the aftermath. We had killed approximately 30-40 brown recluse (completely discounting the hundred or so that escaped), a few Widows, and 3 scorpions. Most of them were more or less dime-sized, but a couple of those fiddlebacks had nearly a half-dollar coin leg span.
Luna moths are cool. I've only seen 3-4 of them out here before.

Unfortunately he died one day while swimming in his pool. They think he had an epileptic seizure. He was only 29. He was by far the best and closest friend I ever had. 
He was also one of those people that everyone instantly liked because he always made people laugh by being silly.
140... Yeah noty... I'd probably just move lol. But yeah, most of the ones I've seen are pretty small, but the one I saw the other night was actually pretty big. They're fast too. *shudders*

There was a time Iowa was fairly benign as far as poisonous spiders went, but then one year some transfer students from Oklahoma accidentally brought some Brown Recluse with them in their boxes, and those nasty buggers had a population explosion.
If a creature has more than 4 legs and a nasty disposition, I dispatch it. This is especially true for members of the taxinomic order "arachnida" - these are liquidated with extreme prejudice.

It was ridiculously hardcore. I can ID one of those things from several yards away by now xD Some people have to get close enough to see the "fiddle" on its back... not this girl!
The scorpions were just the icing on the cake xD I'm just grateful my dad taught me as a kid how to identify the venomous animals I might run into in the US.
As bad as necrosis of the flesh is, at least it won't usually kill you in a few hours, like some of your Australian critters.
Idk about anyone else, but seeing the movie Arachnophobia when I was a little kid ruined spiders for me. XD

The exterminator stops by monthly to spray some natural bug killer thru out the apartment. Usually a day or two later, a little beetle or small weird bug will pop up on the counter taking a few last breaths before meeting its Maker. Well, the other day while I was washing the dishes, a spider decided to leap onto the sink like he had intentions. My hands were in the dishwater and I had no time to hunt for the fly swatter or roll up a newspaper. So I quickly wrapped my fist in the dishcloth and punched him. He still wasn't dead so I gave him another right hook and it was a KO. Then down the garbage disposal he went.

Clearly, you don't live in Australia where many of our spiders are very poisonous. I try to catch harmless spiders and release them outside, though. Some distance from the house.
