Personally this makes me feel so uncomfortable, thinking that a man could be in the bathroom stall next to me. How easy would it be for some perverted guy to go out, buy a dress, wave his arms yelling, "But wait! I'm transgender!" As he strolls into the women's bathroom and does God knows what in there. Transgender men dressing as women are not women.

In my town, there was a man who was waiting in a public bathroom stall with a hammer. A HAMMER. He lunged at some woman who opened the door and tried to kill her! And just think how much easier will it be for a man to go into a women's bathroom, without objection now. It broadens the door of opportunity. When rules like this get passed, they don't think of situations like this because they are so "rare".

It's the same situation that my mom and I encountered in a Target dressing room. I was trying on some shirts for work and she was waiting at the desk. I heard my mom talking to the woman at the front desk of the dressing room and it was very apparent she was concerned about something. When I walked out, I asked her what she was talking about, and she told me she heard a woman giggling in the dressing room, followed by a man's voice talking to her in the same stall. My mom had asked, "Do I hear a man back there?" And the woman at the counter told her that all dressing rooms are gender neutral for families, so any man and woman, despite how young or old they are, can go into the same dressing room together. My mom and I both were so shocked by that.

Now you may think worst case scenario, a couple is in there probably doing things they shouldn't be doing in a public space, which is already bad enough. But my mom really put it into perspective for me. With that being common knowledge to the general public that the dressing rooms are gender neutral, how many rapists, child molesters, just creepy people in general is that going to attract? My mom talked to the manager of the store and told him, "What if a little girl was in those dressing rooms and, not thinking, she didn't close her door all the way, or didn't lock it? A man could have walked by and opened her door while she was changing and that girl would have been so embarrassed a strange man had saw her. Before she could scream or anything, that man is already gone and the damage is done. It happens that quickly. The damage done by this isn't always about preventing rape or kidnapping." The manager didn't know what to say to her obviously, because like everyone who has set this new trend into motion, it's one-sided thinking. All of these people silently hope it will never happen, or that they personally will not have to deal with a situation like that.

If you want to be transgender, fine. You have to deal with God on that one. We all have free will, and the choice is yours to make. But why should I feel uncomfortable, increasing the chances of something dangerous happening to me in such vulnerable places like bathrooms and dressing rooms, just so you can feel more justified and comfortable in the decisions you made? If they REALLY want to accommodate trans-gendered people, why not make their own bathrooms and dressing rooms? The money it would take to do this would be insane, and for some reason, these people think that peeing in the same place as us somehow makes them more of a woman, which is ridiculous.

I can tell you right now. I can pee in a woman's room, a men's room, or out in the forest, and that does not make me second guess my gender for a second.

I vote that trannies get their OWN bathroom, therefore they don't have to go into the REAL men or women's bathrooms..

For a moment there I read it as grannies get their own bathroom. What's
wrong with grannies I wondered, then I re-read it.

I must get some more glasses. :D

This thread is torturing my brain.

Isolated cases? You need to provide statistical evidence that proves there is an increase in sexual assault cases with transgender access, and that transgender access is the cause of this.
Oh first do it, then find out it doesn't work and then change it again.
Well I don't care if they're for men women or whatever. Most of the time my kids pee in the bushes anyway. I have to go NOW!!

I really couldn't care less who is in the stall next to me. I also don't care on way or another about this issue.

I have a solution to this ridiculous problem. If you don't know what restroom to use when you are in public, take a long, close look at your body in the mirror before you dress, and choose your restroom accordingly.

If you have trouble deciding, take a course in anatomy.

...Why don't people just walk their kids into public bathrooms like responsible parents. Why do parents feel that kids are safe just because adults of the same gender are in the bathroom with them? Liberal nutjobs will be liberal nutjobs. It's YOUR responsibility to protect your kids, not the government's (THANK GOD).

People need to stop relying on government policy and start thinking and doing for themselves and each other. The government will never cater to us as Christians again (ever). It's time Christians embraced independence from the government instead of hoping the "right republican candidate" will get into office and set everything back to 1950.

How important is what he has said on this compared to getting our country closed down to illegal immigrants just as all other safe countries do and always have?
so you're up in arms over 'rapists' coming over our border...but you have little to no concern over having them in our restrooms...

Nope. I think I prefaced what I wrote with "this is a great area of concern" . READ

Trans people are not a danger to young girls or young boys or any one else. If you even know a person is trans, and you know what their genitals look like, you are the pervert, and you are the danger to them. Trans people go to public restrooms for two reasons. To pee or poop. They don't want to look at you or your children. And a trans person assaulting someone is a bathroom, there are exactly zero reports of that ever happening. The only time there has ever been reports of people pretending to be trans and using another restroom is idiots doing it to try and prove that people do it.

The fact is, there are already laws against going into any bathroom and peeping at people, touching them, or exposing yourself in a sexual manner. Any kind of law against trans people using the bathroom they feel safest and most comfortable in is not a law to keep cis people safe. It's purely discriminatory against trans people, under the guise of preventing an imaginary problem.

Re-posting for your benefit...

The following are a few quotes from a woman who was raped as a child;

Victimizers Use Any Opening They Can Find-Let me be clear: I am not saying that transgender people are predators. Not by a long shot. What I am saying is that there are countless deviant men in this world who will pretend to be transgender as a means of gaining access to the people they want to exploit, namely women and children. It already happens... it is nothing short of negligent to instate policies that elevate the emotional comfort of a relative few over the physical safety of a large group of vulnerable people.

Don’t they know anything about predators? Don’t they know the numbers? That out of every 100 rapes, only two rapists will spend so much as single day in jail while the other 98 walk free and hang out in our midst? Don’t they know that predators are known to intentionally seek out places where many of their preferred targets gather in groups? Don’t they know that insurance companies highlight locker rooms as a high-risk area for abuse that should be carefully monitored and protected?

Don’t they know that one out of every four little girls will be sexually abused during childhood, and that’s without giving predators free access to them while they shower? Don’t they know that, for women who have experienced sexual trauma, finding the courage to use a locker room at all is a freaking badge of honor? That many of these women view life through a kaleidoscope of shame and suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, dissociation, poor body image, eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, difficulty with intimacy, and worse?

Why would people knowingly invite further exploitation by creating policies with no safeguards in place to protect them from injury? With zero screening options to ensure that biological males who enter locker rooms actually identify as female, how could a woman be sure the person staring at her wasn’t exploiting her? Why is it okay to make her wonder?

Despite the many reports of sexual abuse and assault that exist in our world, there’s an even larger number of victims who never tell about it. The reason? They’re afraid no one will believe them. Even worse, they’re terrified of a reality they already innately know to be true: even if people did know, they wouldn’t do anything to help. They’re not worth protecting. Even silence feels better than that.

There’s no way to make everyone happy in the situation of transgender locker room use. So the priority ought to be finding a way to keep everyone safe. I’d much rather risk hurting a smaller number of people’s feelings by asking transgender people to use a single-occupancy restroom that still offers safety than risk jeopardizing the safety of thousands of women and kids with a policy that gives would-be predators a free pass.

Is it ironic to no one that being “progressive” actually sets women’s lib back about a century? What of my right to do my darndest to insist that the first time my daughter sees the adult male form it will be because she’s chosen it, not because it’s forced upon her? What of our emotional and physical rights? Unless and until you’ve lined a bathroom door with a towel for protection, you can’t tell me the risk isn’t there.

I feel a sense of urgency to invite people to consider the not-so-hidden dangers of these policies before more and more of them get cemented into place. Once that happens, the only way they’ll change is when innocent people get hurt.

I think this womans story says it all. This is what people are upset about. This is why a petition has been signed by 200,000 on the first day. People see the danger and want to protect against it. If the gov't wants to provide separate bathrooms for transgender et al thats one thing.Putting women and children in danger is another issue all together. I'm not a victim of sexual abuse but I feel strongly that this woman has made a great case against males going into a womans restroom. She asks where are her rights? Where indeed.

You seem to be missing the point here. It's not about people who live a trans-gendered life attacking women or children in dressing rooms or bathrooms. It is however, about men impersonating trans-gendered women. This isn't about not giving trans-gendered people their rights. You want to be out of the men's restroom, alright. Make a new bathroom specifically for trans-people. That is your right, as a transgender.

trans·gen·der
transˈjendər,tranzˈjendər/
adjective

  • denoting or relating to a person whose self-identity does not conform unambiguously to conventional notions of male or female gender.

You can make me out to be a villain, aiming to hurt your feelings, but there it is in black and white. You are not a woman or a man, you are transgender. That is the bathroom that should be made for you, because that is what you are. It's not name-calling or being mean or discrimination. It's literally what you are.

By asking to be allowed to use the women's restroom you are taking my rights away as a woman, to feel safe literally because you want to pee where we do. I don't want to share my bathroom with a man. A legitimate trans-gendered woman, who honestly wants this because they feel unsafe in a men's restroom, I understand. That's our concern too. When it comes to this new law, we are fighting opposing sides for the same reasons. Y
ou want to get away from men, maybe out of fear, or because you don't identify as a man anymore and we don't want this law to pass because we do not want men in our restrooms where we feel most vulnerable.

Instead of a rapist, or a child molester having to sneakily slink into the women's bathroom or a dressing room, now all they have to do is buy a dress and pretend to be trans-gendered?

I want you to think. Do you honestly think, that if a man is willing to risk being seen by sneaking into a bathroom or a dressing room, just on the sheer hope he will be able to molest or rape someone, that he wouldn't go out and purchase a five dollar dress at Walmart and pretend to be a woman, (which would receive less questioning and suspicions if this law becomes a norm), so he can do the same thing?

Think. about. what. you're. saying.

Still can't see it? Okay. How about this.

You're underage and you want to buy a beer. You have a fake ID, but you know every time you walk up to that counter, the chances they are going to turn you away due to recognizing that it is fake or because you simply look so young is pretty significant. You still try anyway because you REALLY want that beer, even if you're only successful 10 percent of the time. But what if told you, "Hey, I know how much you want that beer. If you wear this mask, it will immediately give you the appearance of a 25 year old, and you probably won't even get carded."

Hey, that sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Now you don't have to worry about suspicion, because you look the part. Now you can get what you want.

This isn't an "imaginary problem". Every 107 seconds, another American is sexually assaulted. There is an average of 293,066 victims (age 12 and older) of rape and sexual assault each year. That's not worldwide. That's simply in America. Proof is not required when it comes to this law of trans-gendered men using a women's restroom. Anyone can impersonate a trans-gendered woman and it will happen. Unfortunately, close our eyes to that. It isn't until we see that spike of rape and molestation after this law goes into effect, that we'll say to ourselves. "Maybe this wasn't such a good idea."

And trans-gendered people will be sitting on the toilet in the women's restroom, scrolling through those news stories thinking, "At least I can pee where I want now."

I suspect if this number gets over 1,000,000 TARGET will have to re-examine their stance:

We can slow the tide of perversion. I would encourage people to sign this petition if they believe in it.

Target's policy essentially means there are NO male or female restrooms since a man can claim to feel like a woman that day and go in the ladies room while even young girls are in there.

Quote "So far Target is sticking to their guns."

Apparently I was wrong. A bad pun...

From Targets CEO;

As you’ve likely seen in the media, there’s been a debate about whether guests in communities that permit “open carry” should be allowed to bring firearms into Target stores. Our approach has always been to follow local laws, and of course, we will continue to do so. But starting today we will respectfully request that guests not bring firearms to Target–even in communities where it is permitted by law.

Target Allows Men to Use Women's Restrooms, but Look What They BANNED...

A little hypocritical I'd say.

Its a respectful request. Target cannot over ride the state law that permits open carry.
