The Martian
Ridley Scott, you created an entertaining, if incredibly messy movie (script-wise/editing-wise) in Prometheus. You shat all over the story of Moses with the mind-numbingly boring Exodus: Gods and Kings. Yet, somehow you managed to make The Martian. And what an exceptional movie it is! A fascinating story with a diverse cast delivering superb acting (especially Matt Damon, he's a tour de force), majestic visuals, and some weird but strangely appropriate music - this intense survival drama even delivers in the humour stakes. It's all very human.
Highly recommended for mature audiences. Warning: contains infrequent strong language and some intense imagery.

So, my roomie and I watched this movie called "The Song" (2014) and I thought it was another corny chick flick. But, either my expectations were too low or the film was really good. Didn't even realize it was a Christian film (the quality was great, for a christian film... No offence) until I heard narrations from Ecclesiastes, Proverbs and Songs of Solomon. Spoiler alert, it's a modern-day illustration of Solomon and his quest for wisdom that affected his decisions in life and his family... Ultimately leading him to the realization that, all, is indeed, vanity. I absolutely loved it. Everything about it. Maybe because I'm into music and the story revolves around this young rock star. I loved the film quality, the music (Turn, turn, turn) and the message of the movie. I think it speaks a lot to this generation and a must-see.
