Americans sometimes have been known to wear a Canadian flag pin so they are not targeted as Americans while visiting foreign countries. Canada does, according to some, have a better rep overall... and it is true that our very first prime minister, Sir John A. MacDonald, wanted to protect our land from Americans, whom we had been at war with already.
Federation emerged from multiple impulses: the British wanted Canada to defend itself; the Maritimes needed railroad connections, which were promised in 1867; British-Canadian nationalism sought to unite the lands into one country, dominated by the English language and British culture; many French-Canadians saw an opportunity to exert political control within a new largely French-speaking Quebec, and fears of possible U.S. expansion northward.

Thank you, magenta, for this prayer and I hope you know I'm always (in my own feeble way, sometimes) praying for you. I'm sorry I can't go into detail re: my sister in public, but it's a health thing, it's very serious, and I thank anyone on her behalf for prayers. As for me...I'm not bitter, I'm REALLY NOT. (But I can get that way when I'm accused of it, lol). It's depression which comes out disguised in other forms at times, and ppl get confused by it, (i dont mean you), which is why they sometimes tell you to be happy, as if that's all there is to it. So thank you for praying, THAT's part of the solution...a BIG part, and as I was worshipping earlier, along with MPW(thx, I will tty in next post) and you praying, I could sense some darkness lifting. Thank you, both, and thank you, Jesus, please continue to be with my sister. What I CAN say in public is I send my love your way, magenta, my friend.
