yup. makes sense to me.
i've never understood much of the appeal of 10. yes, i love the android-y feel in theory and the demos are sexy and sleek, BUT all the hassle for touch integration has always annoyed me. or isn't a draw at all, for a few reasons.
first, i am a seriously chill, non-violent person, but if your hand even *approaches* touching one of my LCDs i'm going to slap it down. : D okay, maybe not. but i'm not terribly fond of anyone touching my screens ; p
i don't care what the surface is, i'm not going to ever be cool about touchscreen LCDs (unless it's a tab/mobile).
and the nav/input changes are mostly pointless to me. as long as i can navigate with alt and ctrl keys and other keyboard shortcuts to the extent that i barely need a mouse. a touch screen would absolutely slow me down. and yeah, that's only one reason why i almost ever capitalize anything. ; p but there's not much else to draw one.
from what i've seen from demo'ing 10, i haven't been impressed, either. and like bowharp, i'm enjoying mint, too. actually, it's been a long, long time that i haven't had a linux OS, though win 7 is nice enough that i'm happy to keep it to run the SW that requires a win OS.
unfortunately, a decent part of my job is developing proprietary SW tools for the niche sales force. and while those have to run on win, i'm grateful that there's no win10 migration planned for the org anytime soon. though i'm probably going to need to have a win10 tool eventually--depending upon schtuff. : )

Aaaaaaaand gypsygirl just touched on the main problem with Win8. For computers with a touchscreen Win8 was not half bad. Unfortunately Win8 assumed every computer had a touchscreen and tried to act like a smartphone on real computers. This was stupid because the limitations of a tablet or smartphone are the REASON for that interface. With a real computer I want a real computer interface, not a smartphone interface.

I heard Win10 gives you a choice whether you want a real computer interface or a tablet interface. I'm not going to bother verifying this though until I need a new computer and it happens to have Win10 on it.

I loved windows xp... I don't know why they changed it... it was perfect and friendly and it understood our needs!!! 
These new versions are just a bunch of stuck ups and not really nice all in all...

when it's blazing bright blue at 6:30 a.m. you know it's going to be hot today.
i would rather go swimming today. or actually, almost anything with water. i'm half tempted to see if i have one of those fun sprinklers, but i don't have any kids to pretend that it's for.
and sadly, my dog isn't too cool with random water landing on her. how do i know this? she's been known to take cover when she sees my squirtguns. i think she's been hit too much by friendly fire. : )
holy cow, i almost forgot. about slip and slides!?! doesn't that sound fun today? on a hill, with a few big ring of sprinklers? i used to have a slip and slide years ago. but most people over a certain age don't seem to think they're all that fun, which by the way, i still don't get. i need more friends with kids that i can play with.
and of course, none of my girlfriends think that things that mess your hair up are all that fun. which again, i don't get. guys, there are two kinds of women: those who will get their hair messed up, and those who won't. choose carefully. ; p

I dont get all this fuzz about Windows 7 or 8 or whatnot, except from the layout. I havent experienced any major differencies (that might could be because I'm only using Word, Outlook and Internet....

Yes... yes, Win7 was smooth. Microsoft seems to either hit big or wildly miss with their operating systems. Windows ME sucked. Win2k was good. WinXP was great. Vista sucked eggs. Win7 was great. Win8 sucked the galactic muffin.
Win10... we shall see.
