We are commanded to be witnesses. We are not responsible for the message being believed or not. If they are offended by Jesus saved me and He wants to save you too then they have a problem.

All men are sinners and must be saved. There are no special provisions made for special classes of sinners. Salvation is all about Jesus. Sodomy is all about the sodomite.

For the cause of Christ

I don't think you and I disagree about the message....just the delivery of it. Smacking someone over the head with a bible has about a zero percent chance of being an effective way of causing people to question their way of doing things. It's like yelling at your kid when you've already pushed them into fight or flight chemicals flooding their brain......it's ineffective at best and furthers the distrust and bad blood at worst.

P.s. can we pleeease keep on topic? God has really put this on my heart and I wanna understand more!

Thanks! :)
Here is the way my church approaches homosexuality. We will for sure invite them into the church, as we invite everyone, but we will tell them our stand and ask them to refrain from any inappropriate behavior. If they do behave "badly" a deacon or elder will approach them and talk with them in private about what the Bible says. If the continue we will ask them to leave as they are not respecting us as we are respecting them.

Plain and simple; love, respect and humility.

And yes I do know a bit about the subject...my brother is gay. Unfortunately he refuses God's Word so just pray. If God has truly put this on your heart He will show you how to witness to them in loving way with respect and humility without bending the true Gospel of Christ.

So recently God jas been giving me this compassion for gay people. He has been leading me to videos, showing me how gay people can feel hopless and lonley in the church. I wanna start a civil discussion on how we can encourage our gay brothers and sisters.
My first two questions are, what are gay people doing in the church, and why are they called brothers and sisters?

1 Corinthians 5:11-12[SUP]11 [/SUP]But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

First off I have to say that I HATE the title of this thread . . . . and secondly:

When the scribes of the Pharisees saw that he as eating with sinners and tax collectors, they said to his disciples, Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners? When Jesus heard this, he said to them, Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have come to call not the righteous but sinners. Mark 2:16,17 [NRSV]

The Pharisees and their scribes were complaining to his disciples, saying Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners? Jesus answered, Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance. Luke 5:30,31 [NRSV]

If this were true churches would be completely empty including the pastor.

If they don't believe the scriptures that I posted, then they will be full of sinners. But hey, don't let the scriptures get in the way.

It's not that we don't believe the scriptures you posted at all......just your heartless interpretation of them.

What the ... ?

Excuse me, but have you READ the Bible??

Matthew 2, NASB
16 When the scribes of the Pharisees saw that He was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they said to His disciples, "Why is He eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners?"
17 And hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Who the heck do you think church is for anyway?? If it isn't for the lost to hear the word, as well as the saints to be edified, then what is it for?

some questions that a brother raised last night when we all met together to study Romans:

  • is anyone without sin?
  • is one sin greater than another, as far as God is concerned?
  • what does the Father see when He looks at a believer's sin?
  • is what He sees "different" according to what sin a person has committed, or does it depend solely on whether a person has put their trust in Christ's atonement?

Heartless interpretation? Not sure how you got that impression, unless you just don't like the scriptures I posted?

Good scriptures, I agree with them
