Hi there. Quick recap of my last 3 years. Met a man I fell deeply in love with. Moved myself and my 3 kids in with him. He was raised Catholic but no longer went to church. Some bad things happened in the years prior to our relationship which caused him to think God didn't care about him. I thought I could help bring him back to a real love for God. You know where this is going..
Jump to 2 months ago. I couldn't ignore the promptings of my Spirit any longer. The kids and I left. Slept on friends couches for two months but felt closer to God than ever.
God blessed my boys and me with a lovely apartment and now we start fresh...in obedience to Him :)
Follow the promptings of your Spirit!
I will never make that mistake again. If God has a man for me then he will be in love with Jesus and he will be a Godly example to my kids:)

I don't mean to be the party crasher, but I am a little concerned on part of your post. I really do applaud your decision to move you and your kids out of that situation, however I am wondering if your decision to wait for a "Godly" man in the future also includes the decision to not move in with him until you are married? You didn't say you were married to this man, so I am assuming you weren't, and that creates its own set of problems.

Besides God not being in the center of our relationship (or rather, the ex didn't have God in the equation at all), the other main conviction I had was exactly that- living with him without being married. Absolutely! He wanted to marry me but I was a fool to jump in to living with him before that.
I will never do that again. I know that 100% now. I guess I thought I could rationalize it and justify the not being married thing, but God corrected me:)

hahahaaha, this reminded me of both a rather famous phrase, not to mention a favorite U2 song that quotes it...

a woman needs a man, like a fish needs a bicycle

i happen to agree with it though. problems always abound when we find ourselves "needing" a man. : ) hopefully i won't be stoned for quoting a feminist. *shudders*

as to the op, i really hope that you focus on getting right with God, being a godly mom and preparing yourself to be ready for the next chapter of your life, be it with a man or not. i'm so glad you learned from this experience, and it sounds like you will be better equipped moving forward.

oh, welcome to CC!

Thanks:) And yes I am going to grow closer to Him. I am going to ask God to help me and heal me, and to keep guiding me to be the best Mom I can be.

i admire that! i think you'll find a lot of support here to do just that. also, we have lots of single parents here in the cc singles forum.

feel free to jump right into the threads and contribute. i've only been here a little over seven months, and have made a number of wonderful friends and found a "home" away from home. : )

oh, and i wanted to say what pretty eyes you have, beloved314. : )

I have to disagree with this. :). Yes we are capable, but there are pros and cons in both genders... And when we follow our roles as scripture tells us... Then we can indeed reflect the beautiful relationship between Christ and the church.

Beloved... I know exactly how you feel. Wasted 4-5 years with my ex, even when only a month into the relationship God said no but I ignored him for many years and got many scars from it. But, I also learned a lot about myself and my weaknesses as well. Hopefully this will prepare me for my future husband lol.

i hope my words and the message of "not needing a man" don't get twisted. as to your statement about "pros and cons" of both genders, that is absolutely true!

my thoughts were shared in the context of this post, and want to clarify that in no way am i disrespecting men, or the important and valuable, God-given roles they play. i only agree that there are times when seeking a relationship is a (very) bad idea. there are times when women are called to stand on their own feet, seeking God's best and will for their lives.

unfortunately, i know too many women who feel incomplete or incapable without a man taking care of them, and in that sense, i think that "needing a man" is a problem.

i rally hard against that message, but never against men and the equally significant roles they fulfill.

I would say stay single or reconcile to your first husband if it be possible. God has all ready given you many men in your life by your own word, consider your sons for example. They are little men and blessings from God for you. Just tend to your boys and keep your blessings with God and blessing God. Indeed you are blessed. Very happy for you that worked out well and now God has blessed you and your boys with a good place to live. I think that testimony right there is a better testimony for your sons than another husband assuredly for you prove how Jesus is a blessing. This story if you have not shared it with them is a good thing to share with your sons as a goodly example.
