But you can't play the my theology is majorly flawed because I'm a flawed human card, when you're pope! Especially when it comes to giving divine attributes to Mary and suggesting we give her dedication. Pope implies you have your theology down, and you know not to give God-like attributes to non-God persons. Sure maybe he can spill some water during baptism, or tip a cup over by accident when doing communion, that's simply being human.I would agree with you, had I not read his encyclical on Human Sexuality or the Life of Christ or who we are to God, etc. St. Pope John Paul II was an avid fan of Mary, and at times it went too far, but when it came to explaining the faith and writing theological treatises, the man was a Christian. A flawed Christian, but so was Peter, and so am I.
But when you're the chief theologian of an entire "true church" you really should have the main points, and most of the finer points of your theology down.
