Is there such a thing as an atheist?

An athiest told me that they do not believe in a "higher power", meaning a god or diety. There is a difference though in believeing IN something and believing something, then denying the existance of something.

So do you believe IN, believe or deny the existence of Zeus?

By that logic your also saying that 'nobody will deny Odin when he casts you into the pit for eternity'

So I guess there's no such thing as not believing in Odin either.

There were alot of "gods" that were simply carved of wood or stone, that were simply things made by men's hands. I would say there was demonic deception used to deceive men into even creating these things, but I wouldn't say they were demons themselves.

I've met someone who said they "believe" in polytheism. They actually might have believed in misothiesm (from how they acted), but I can't judge.

I remember seeing a show on the history channel that mentioned a woman who still believed in the Egyptian gods. Very rare though for anyone to believe in Greek,Roman, or Egyptian gods.

That's really strange, although I do admit around 13 and under that I thought that I was like a Greek god (before I was a Christian). I was weird...

Greek mythology was my first encounter with any type of 'religion' when I was a kid. I had old films like Clash of the Titans and Jason & The Argonauts etc showing the gods and their negative traits... Maybe that's what put me on the path I'm on now lol

Yeah, it as one of the first encounters too, I had wild imagination. I once started to try being atheist once, it was really impossible. So somehow I tried accepting there was a God, but not Jesus. That got hard...then I tried getting into satanic stuff knowing there is God and Jesus, then I totally hated Christians and God. Then God got me to a point where I had to give up fighting and let go, after a while of not being so irrational as I was, I actually came to try Christ. I then was led to the gospel and was saved, gave my life to Christ. Although I was young, I wasn't stupid lol 14

You just taught me a new word. Misotheism is the "hatred of God" or "hatred of the gods". I never knew this.

I just visited The Cauldron: A Pagan Forum and the answer is that many claim to believe. They would all, of course, be New Age pagans. The Christian Church did a way with paganism by force.

Regardless of my opinions on Christianity we can all certainly agree it's very well documented.

I don't follow. You say above "Zeus/Jupiter-->Allah". Does this mean you think Allah is the same god as Zeus/Jupiter?
