I don't expect to be coddled, but I do expect to be taught. Mockery and humiliation serves no educational purpose other than teaching me how NOT to be a teacher.

Criticism is rarely constructive in my opinion. The only time I've ever actually seen it work, is when two musicians are discussing a piece they are trying to co write.
