Sex or physical intimacy is a symptom of the real intimacy between two people. It used to be all about the children and STDs...but those are somewhat lost on people today with the available birth control methods.

That intimate act actually deepens the bond between a man and a woman.

I've never met anyone who doesn't remember the first person they had sex with. Because they are hardwired into your brain.
And when it's with someone who is only temporary in your life and uncommitted it will put a hard spot on your heart. (Theirs too)

The more partners you have sex with the less enjoyable sex becomes. And it's a lifetime thing...not just "for a while" type thing either.

This is the very definition of "less is more".

I can go into details but it gets kinda graphic for this forum. But men and women both gain with the fewer sex partners they have.

A person's body is a gift they give to a spouse. And that gift can either come from the Goodwill clothing bin or a high end new clothing shop. The choice is yours.

Its a perspective of having relationships with a very broad number of people from youth to maturity.
A couple of my classmates turned to prostitution and loose morality. Their viewpoint on physical intimacy is very different from those who didn't. Their attitudes today reflect those choices in their lives.

I think you speaking of the effects of one who has been in fornication and not repented and how the spiraling down of sexual sin leaves the person empty and abused.

This place cracks me in how a person can make a simple comment (as I did) and the attacks just start flying like buzzards in tornados.

What's "cope?" Sounds like dope (drugs) to me. That was my initial thought.

Cope is where people start making absurd rationalizations to deal (cope) with an unpleasant situation. It’s especially prevalent on this topic.

I hear you. The way the "lashings" towards me were so forceful AND worded . . . I think that something much deeper is going on.

In the context of the Israelites, marrying a foreigner WAS considered fornication sometime- because foreigners served other Gods. But there are also occasions where they could marry non-Israelites. Today we aren't supposed marry non-believers because it yokes the body of Christ with the world.
With respect to sexuality, anyone you aren't marrying is foreign to you. It's not really about ethnicity or civic-national alliegances. It's about God.

The Bible is clear:

Those from the West (the Gentiles) were allowed to be taken and married by the Jews.

Who was NOT to be married were those from the Seven Nations, for they were not only called by God to be destroyed but they were considered Abominations.

There are three "types" of people on the planet, or at least, "were" three types. They are:

1) Jews
2) Gentiles)
3) Abominations - Those from the Seven Nations.

There are some temple prostitutes mentioned in the Old Testament who were both not Israelis and also in the service of some Phoenician god, likely Baal. They more than likely made deals of some sort with people and "sealed them with a kiss" so to speak fairly crudely.

Sex binds you to the person you are doing it with. So imagine having premarital sex with one guy and then getting married to another guy. You might have some attachment/emotional issues in your marriage because you were already bound to one guy.
I suspect this is why there is so much divorce nowadays. I do believe in freedom in Christ from this...but most people don't even think premarital sex is wrong. So they are not being healed.

Well I am thinking about those people who don't trust God and his directives to us of what not to do.

To those people, they believe that they are arbitrary or that they can out think/maneuver the reasons God gave them to us.

I'm backhandedly explaining that God gave us these rules for OUR BENEFIT...not His. Because God cares about us and wants the best for us. He doesn't want us to harm ourselves.

A lot of people miss that point while getting browbeaten to death by the self righteous.

Sure, I'm at a point in my relationship with God that if He says it then it must be good by my logic...I don't have to test it out to see that He was right all along.
But I'm not everyone else either. Not everyone trusts God the way that I do.
