The Central Verse
- Matthew: The central/middle verse of the book of Matthew is Matthew 16:16, where Peter confesses that Jesus is the Messiah: "Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.'"
- Mark: The central/middle verse of the book of Mark is Mark 8:29, where Peter confesses that Jesus is the Messiah: "But what about you?' he asked. 'Who do you say I am?' Peter answered, 'You are the Messiah.'"
