And how does the book of Hebrews call it a covenant if it wasn't one?

Hebrews 8:6-9

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first [covenant] had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

Maybe you just meant that the Decalogue is not by itself a covenant - i agree on technicality, it is part of the Law of the Covenant, not the whole of it, and that Law is not separated, it is one Law. Unless anyone can justify breaking apart the Law into disconnected, non-intersecting and unrelated separate governance (which scripture never speaks of it this way, regardless of how it has become the tradition of man to do so), the Decalogue is part of the Law, which is most certainly a covenant, in particular by symbol and type a marriage covenant.

They travel on sabbath. They kindle fire on sabbath. They handle money on sabbath. They do not offer the sacrifices the Law of the Covenant requires for sabbaths. But they say they keep sabbath??
I hope brother LGF understand and follow the pure teaching of the gospel of Jesus.

one more time, you ain't my friend. I understand what Paul said about being grafted into Israel. but, belief in the Lord Jesus Christ is what saves, not keeping the Sabbath. and, I will not deny historical facts- gentiles were never under the Law of Moses. that is not my opinion, that is facts. I am not in a cult, I do not have to say or not say anything.
Hello gb9, if you cannot love another how can you KNOW and love God?

Who said keeping the Sabbath saves anyone? Certainly not me. How can the Gentiles be under the Law when they never had it?

Seems you have many opinions my friend but founded on God's Word. It is only on the Word of God we stand or fall. If you choose to build your house on the sand and not on the rock great will be the fall of your house. Only those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's Word are God's people.

SIN will keep all who practice it out of God's Kingdom.

Exodus 34
28 Moses was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments. to me the word of the covenant - the ten commandments, mean ten commandment is covenant
Now brother Jackson closing your eyes to God's Word does not make it go away. Why do you ignore all the scripture in post # 1912 (linked) that shows you all the scriptures so you can see that the Old Covenant is MORE then the 10 commandments? Also all you have to do is to read all of Exodus 34 to see that the Old Covenant is more then the 10 commandments. But you have chosen the word of website over God's Word and have closed your eyes to see and your ears to hear so when God is calling you how will you hear him?

after I watch youtube, I learn that the ten commandment is like constitution or foundation of the law, but to implement need interpretation or aplication for Example do not steal is in the ten commandment but TC not say what is the punishment. The law explain the punishment so It must be the law to make TC in effect. on the sabbath, the punishment is death If member of Israel tribe not doing sabbath, It Will be kill. and It is not in SDA. They not kill a member that not parsitipate in sabbath, so basically SDA is not doing sabbath AS in the OT, or violate Sabbath law anyway.
Your just repeating yourself Jackson and not reading God's Word for yourself not to mention all the scriptures you ignore answering your the above already in post # 1917 (linked) If you have your fingers in your ears and close your eyes how will you hear the Word of God when God is calling you?

You are correct Jackson, the ones who wish to pass judgement are themselves not following the Law, and the Law is a Covenant Law, it is not separated into bits of parts a person accepts and bits a person denies. They were neither baptized into Moses nor were we. But the tradition of mankind is to think himself approved before God by works, to boast in works, and to judge his neighbour by works. The purpose of the Sabbaths of the covenant was explicitly stated by God however: that Israel should know that it is God who sanctifies, not themselves.
They travel on sabbath. They kindle fire on sabbath. They handle money on sabbath. They do not offer the sacrifices the Law of the Covenant requires for sabbaths. But they say they keep sabbath??
Hello posthuman,

Welcome here and so nice to meet you. So Jackson must be correct because you say so yet God's Word says every man is a liar and only God's Word is true (Romans 3:4) and people should believe you over the Word of God why?

What is the Old Covenant to you mean and what makes up the Old Covenant? Where is is said by anyone here that we are saved by the Law?

Seems like some people like to say things that are not true because they are not able to to give a reason for the hope that is in them from the scriptures.

Do you have anything to share in regards to the OP from God's Word? If you do not you should BELIEVE the scriptures because ONLY God's Word is true and it is the Word of God that will judge us all in the last days (John 12:46:47)

Many are called but only a few are chosen to follow Him who LOVES all. He is calling many but men loved darkness rather then light because their deeds were evil.

SIN will keep all who practice it out of God's Kingdom. (Hebrews 10:26-27)

...............................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten ( Exodus 20:8-11 ) and like any of the ten, if we knowingly break it when God ask s us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

There is not one scripture in ALL of God's WORD that says God's 4th commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to worship God on Sunday in it's place.

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Marc, the entire Law is a Covenant, not individual micro-covenants. What else does this scripture mean?

Exodus 24:3-8
And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do. And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD. And Moses took half of the blood, and put [it] in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient. And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled [it] on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

It is called the book of the covenant, and the blood of the covenant, and it is the people agreeing to it, both the blessing for abiding by it and the curse for breaking it.

How is that possibly not a covenant??
Hello posthuman, What is your view is the Old Covenant and what is its' purpose? Scripture please only God's Word is true..

How can you quote Hebrews 8 when you do not know what the Old Covenant is and it's purpose? This only shows you did not even read the OP here in the thread. May I suggest you go have a read of the OP?

1. We are not under the Law:

"I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish?

So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?

Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says?"

2. The Law was given only for a time, until Christ:

"Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come.

So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. 25Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian."

3. The Law was given only to Jews (circumcised):

"Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law."

4. Even Jews are not under the Law, when they believe in Christ:

"For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me."

In number three and four of your evaluation. I dont believe you have read or studied the Torah(Law) and the prophets in prayer.
What does circumcision have to do with the daughters of the Kingdom?
If you were to listen to the Lord in Truth and in Spirit you might see that the torah is like a terrain. And who was it That Lights the road marks.
It will be for the sons and daughters to inherit the Kingdom

A voice cries out:

“Clear a road through the desert for Adonai!
Level a highway in the ‘Aravah for our God!
4 Let every valley be filled in,
every mountain and hill lowered,
the bumpy places made level
and the crags become a plain.
5 Then the glory of Adonai will be revealed;
all humankind together will see it,
for the mouth of Adonai has spoken.”

6 A voice says, “Proclaim!”
And I answer, “What should I proclaim?”
“All humanity is merely grass,
all its kindness like wildflowers:
7 the grass dries up, the flower fades,
when a wind from Adonai blows on it.
Surely the people are grass!
8 The grass dries up, the flower fades;
but the word of our God will stand forever.”

9 You who bring good news to Tziyon,
get yourself up on a high mountain;
you who bring good news to Yerushalayim,
cry out at the top of your voice!
Don’t be afraid to shout out loud!
Say to the cities of Y’hudah,
“Here is your God!
10 Here comes Adonai Elohim with power,
and his arm will rule for him.
Look! His reward is with him,
and his recompense is before him.
11 He is like a shepherd feeding his flock,
gathering his lambs with his arm,
carrying them against his chest,
gently leading the mother sheep.”

12 Who has counted the handfuls of water in the sea,
measured off the sky with a ruler,
gauged how much dust there is on the earth,
weighed the mountains on scales, or the hills in a balance?
13 Who has measured the Spirit of Adonai?
Who has been his counselor, instructing him?
14 Whom did he consult, to gain understanding?
Who taught him how to judge,
taught him what he needed to know,
showed him how to discern?

15 The nations are like a drop in a bucket,
they count like a grain of dust on the scales.
The islands weigh as little as specks of dust.
16 The L’vanon would not suffice for fuel
or its animals be enough for burnt offerings.
17 Before him all the nations are like nothing.
He regards them as less than nothing.

18 With whom, then, will you compare God?
By what standard will you evaluate him?
19 An image made by a craftsman,
which a goldsmith overlays with gold,
for which he then casts silver chains?
20 A man too poor to afford an offering
chooses a piece of wood that won’t rot,
then seeks out a skilled artisan
to prepare an image that won’t fall over.

21 Don’t you know? Don’t you hear?
Haven’t you been told from the start?
Don’t you understand how the earth is set up?
22 He who sits above the circle of the earth —
for whom its inhabitants appear like grasshoppers —
stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
spreads them out like a tent to live in.
23 He reduces princes to nothing,
the rulers of the earth to emptiness.
24 Scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown,
scarcely their stem taken root in the ground,
when he blows on them, they dry up,
and the whirlwind carries them off like straw.
25 “With whom, then, will you compare me?
With whom am I equal?” asks the Holy One.

26 Turn your eyes to the heavens!
See who created these?
He brings out the army of them in sequence,
summoning each by name.
Through his great might and his massive strength,
not one of them is missing.

27 Why do you complain, Ya‘akov;
why do you say, Isra’el,
“My way is hidden from Adonai,
my rights are ignored by my God”?
28 Haven’t you known, haven’t you heard
that the everlasting God, Adonai,
the Creator of the ends of the earth,
does not grow tired or weary?
His understanding cannot be fathomed.
29 He invigorates the exhausted,
he gives strength to the powerless.
30 Young men may grow tired and weary,
even the fittest may stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in Adonai will renew their strength,
they will soar aloft as with eagles’ wings;
when they are running they won’t grow weary,
when they are walking they won’t get tired.

In number three and four of your evaluation. I dont believe you have read or studied the Torah(Law) and the
Quotes are from the New Testament, from the letter to Galatians, i.e. after the Law and Prophets and after Christ. Therefore such text has a primacy and is actual.

Brother LGF

old covenant is 10 commandment and It interpretation and It aplication to inforce it

say us law prohibit drunk drive.

Do not drunk when you drive.

Is that make people not drunk when their drive If the law not include punishment?

good law Will be: drunk driver Will Inprison for 6 months or $ 5000.00 penalty.

sabbath law is a package

sabbath violator Will suffer death penalty.

if you follow this covenant, you Will follow the whole thing, not half.

I follow new commandment/covenant. It is love God and fellow man.

Now your getting closer my friend. Let's look at the scriptures then..........

QUESTION: What is the Old Covenant .........................

(1) The Ten commandments; Now you can read

Exodus 34:28, And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And He (God) wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. (see also Deuteronomy 4:13; 10:4)and the Ten commandments were the work of God written by God himself with His own finger................

Exodus 31:18, When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone INSCRIBED WITH THE FINGER of God. (This was God's Work written by God alone)The Old Covenant does indeed include the 10 commandments but that is not all that makes up the Old Covenant; you left out the other part of the scriptures of the Old covenant written in the same chapter because you trust in your words from man. Please read Exodus 34:18-27. I will only post the last verse here to help you but please read all for yourself....

Exodus 34:27, And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.

Now notice something here please. Exodus 31:18 and 34:28 say that God made and wrote the 10 commandments correct and this is part of the Old Covenant. Now NOTICE Exodus 34:27 that you left out. God is telling Moses to write something that God was telling him to write down earlier and it is ALSO a Covenant between Moses and Israel. Please read Exodus 34:18-27 for yourself.

This leads us to the second part that makes up the Old Covenant.................

(2) The Mosaic laws for remission of SIN. The book of the law of Moses was written by Moses and it is ALSO part of the OLD Covenant

EXODUS 24 [5] And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD.[6] And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. [7] AND HE TOOK THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT AND READ IN THE AUDIENCE OF THE PEOPLE: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient. [8] And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, BEHOLD THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANT, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

NUMBERS 25 [11] Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. [12] Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him MY COVENANT of peace: [13] And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even THE COVENANT OF AN EVERLASTING PRIESTHOOD; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.

DEUTERONOMY 29 [21] And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, ACCORDING TO ALL THE CURSES OF THE COVENANT THAT ARE WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THIS LAW:

DEUTERONOMY 31 [24] And it came to pass, when MOSES HAD MADE AN END OF WRITING THE WORDS OF THIS BOOK, UNTIL THEY WERE FINISHED, [25] That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying, [26], TAKE THIS BOOK OF THE LAW, AND PUT IT IN THE SIDE OF THE ARK OF THE COVENANT OF THE LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee

The Ark of the Covenant was the home of the covenant to God and His people and included both (1) God’s Law (10 commandments) written on stone and (2) The laws of Moses written in book. Together these made up the Old Covenant ………..

DEUTERONOMY 10 [8] At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.

The God’s Law (10 commandments) on two tables of stone were placed inside because they were part of the Old Covenant. The Mosaic law written in a book was also placed in the side of the Ark because it was part of the Old Covenant……………...................

DEUTERONOMY 31 [26] TAKE THIS BOOK OF THE LAW, AND PUT IT IN THE SIDE OF THE ARK OF THE COVENANT OF THE LORD your God that it may be there for a witness against thee

SUMMARY ANSWER: The OLD Covenant was made up of 1. God's LAW (10 commandments) which was written by God alone on two tables of stone with God's own finger and spoken by God himself to His People and 2. the Mosaic laws of Moses written by Moses in a book .............

............

What was the purpose of God's Law (10 commandments) written on stone by God and the Mosaic laws written by Moses in a book......

(1) God’s Law (10 commandments)
Purpose; reveals what sin and righteousness (Good and Evil) is and the describes the penalty for sin (Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4; Romans 6:23). It was never a cure for sin. But it was the work of God which is forever and the foundation of the Old Covenant, the New Covenant and the Judgement to come. (Exodus 32:16; Exodus 31:18; 31:18; Exodus 20:1-22; Deuteronomy 10:5; Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4; Romans 6:23; Hebrews 7:19; Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, James 2:10-12, 1 John 3:4, Acts 17:31; Ps 111:7-8; Revelation 12:17; 14:12; 22:14; 1 John 3:5-8; 1 John 2:3-4; Ecclesiastes 3:14)

(2) The laws of Moses (Levitical, ceremonial, sacrificial)
Purpose; was the prescriptive cure for sin with all the Levitical and ceremonial laws, burnt offerings for sin, annual feast days foretelling the plan of salvation which were connected to Feast days with New Moon sabbaths, food and drink offerings and other Holy days. These where all types pointing to Jesus and the plan of salvation and provided a cure for sin through animal sacrifice and food and drink offerings and yearly sin atonement's for God’s people. (Leviticus 1:1-13; Leviticus 23:1-44; Numbers 28:1-31; 29:1-40; Deuteronomy 24:10-11; Exodus 24:3; Deuteronomy 31:24-26; Colossians 2:16-16; Hebrews 10:1; Ephesians 2:14-15; Leviticus 4; 5; 6; Hebrews 4:14; 9;10; John 1:29; not exhaustive there are many more).

Why were the ceremonial laws of Moses (handwriting of ordinances) nailed to the cross and shadows of things to come......

Jesus was our true sacrifice for our sins and the Savior of the world that the ceremonial laws of Moses all pointed to. When Jesus came and died the old Covenant laws of Moses that pointed to Jesus and the plan of salvation was fulfilled (John 1:29; 36; Revelation 5:6; 1 Corinthians 5:6-7; Hebrews 8:2-13; 9:1-28). Jesus is our true Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world and our sacrifice for our sins. It is our sins as well as the ceremonial laws of Moses that were nailed to the cross at the death of Jesus (Colossians 2:14; Ephesians 2:15; John 3:16).

So just as the Mosaic laws for remission of SIN are have a difference purpose to God's Law (10 commandments) they are all temporary Shadows because they were all pointing to Jesus. While God's Law is not temporary they are the manifestation of the Character of God through LOVE.

God's Law (10 commandments) are FOREVER

The Law of God (10 commandments) which includes the 4th commandment is the work of God (Exodus 32:16) whatsoever God does is forever nothing can be added to it or taken away (Ecclesiastes 3:14).
God's Law is perfect converting the soul (Psalms 19:7).
It is the very standard of the Old and New Covenants (Exodus 20:1:17, Hebrews 8:10-12).
God's Law was spoken by God himself to His people (Exodus 20:1-22). Jesus says Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matthew 25:35).
Gods Law is still in force today (Psalms 111:7-8, Revelation 12:17, 14:12, 22:14, 1 John 3:5-8, 1 John 2:3-4 etc.).
The Law of God reveals sin to us so we can see ourselves as we truly are sinners in need of a Saviour (Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4).
It is the great standard of the judgement (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, James 2:10-12, 1 John 3:4, Acts 17:31).
God's Law is our teacher revealing sin and the character of God and brings us to Christ at the foot of the cross that we might be saved by faith by Him who loves us and washed us in His own blood (Galatians 3:24; Revelation 1:5).

You cannot know the power of God or the Gospel of Grace without the 10 commandments. If there is NO LAW then you do not know what SIN is (James 2:11; Romans 7:7; Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4). If you do not know what SIN is you have NO need of a Savior. If you have NO need of a Savior you have NO Salvation. If you have NO Salvation you are LOST because it is written.

Romans 2:12
, For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law

Only the believers and followers of God's Word are his people. Those that practice SIN will NOT enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Hello trofimus,

Thanks loved the scriptures you quoted it is just your interpretation of them that is the problem. Let's see why...

1. We are not under the Law:
This is ONLY true for those that have REPENTED and CONFESSED their SINS and have chosen by FAITH to FOLLOW God's WORD (Luke 13:3; Acts 2:38; 1 John 1:9; John 3:16-21)

Anyone that has not repented and by FAITH accepted the GIFT of God's dear son is still in their SINS and as such "Under the LAW" guilty before God of SIN.

Only those who have given their SINS to Jesus and no longer do them are NOT under the LAW.

ONLY BELIEVERS ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH .............

Romans 3
9, What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: FOR WE HAVE BEFORE PROVED BOTH JEW AND GENTILES, THAT THEY ARE ALL UNDER SIN.

Romans 3
23, FALL ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD;

Romans 3
19, NOW WE KNOW THAT WHAT THINGS SO EVER THE LAW SAYS, IT SAYS TO THEM UNDER THE LAW; THAT EVERY MOUTH MAY BE STOPPED AND ALL THE WORLD BECOME GUILTY BEFORE GOD.

Romans 2
6, He will repay each one according to his works:
7, To them who by patient continuance in WELL DOING seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life:
8, But unto them that are contentious, and DO NOT OBEY THE TRUTH, but OBEY UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, INDIGNATION AND WRATH,
9, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that does evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
10, But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
11, For there is no respect of persons with God.
12, For AS MANY AS HAVE SINNED WITHOUT THE LAW SHALL ALSO PERISH WITHOUT THE LAW: and AS MANY AS HAVE SINNED UNDER THE LAW shall be judged by the law;
13, For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

Romans 8
1, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2,
FOR THE LAW OF THE SPIRIT OF LIFE IN CHRIST HAS MADE ME FREE FROM THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH .
3, For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, CONDEMNED SIN IN THE FLESH: <Why?>
4, THAT THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE LAW MIGHT BE FULFILLED IN US WHO WALK NOT AFTER THE FLESH BUT AFTER THE SPIRIT.

Romans 6
12, Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13, Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14, For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law <SIN AND DEATH>, but under grace.
15, What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16, Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17, But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart <NEW heart> that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

You are under the LAW OF SIN AND DEATH IF YOU ARE LIVING A LIFE OF KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN!

If you have accepted God's gift of Grace by FAITH you are FREE from the LAW OF SIN AND DEATH meaning you are NOW FREE NOT TO SIN because you have been forgiven and now have the POWER to walk in NEWNESS of LIFE........

Those living in known UNREPENTANT SIN do NOT KNOW Him who LOVES all and need to SEEK Him in REPENTANCE and CONFESSION of SIN because they do not KNOW God and are NOT FREE from SIN.

1 John 3
3, And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
4, Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5, And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6, Whosoever abides in him sins not: whosoever sins hath not seen him, neither known him.
7, Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8, He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9, Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10, In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.

Romans 3
31,
Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, WE ESTABLISH THE LAW.

Signature time...........................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) and like any of the ten, if we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

2. The Law was given only for a time, until Christ:
This does not mean that once you come to Christ by Faith God's LAW is Abolished it mean you are Forgiven for your sins and no longer condemned by the LAW of SIN and DEATH because of FAITH in God's GRACE and forgiveness of SIN. If you are still practicing your SINS you are indeed still "UNDER THE LAW" guilty before God of SIN because you have rejected the Gift of God's dear son (Hebrews 10:26-27; John 3:16-21).

Let's look at some more scriptures.........

Galatians 3
24,
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25, But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

This is because FAITH in God's Word brings the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE to God's LAW that is now written in the HE ART through LOVE and LOVE is the fulfilling of God's LAW in those that walk in His Spirit (Word). If your FAITH does not have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE then you are still in your SINS and are still "Under the LAW" guilty of SIN and need to REPENT and seek GOD's GIFT of forgiveness through FAITH.

(James 2:18; 20; 26; 1 John 3:3-10; Hebrews 8:10-12; Romans 13:8-10; Luke 13:3; Acts 2:38; 1 John 1:9; John 3:16-21)

3. The Law was given only to Jews (circumcised)

"Israel" is only a name given by God himself to represent his people that BELIEVE and FOLLOW HIM.

Well that is not true at all.... please read v28 from the same chapter.......

Galatians 3
28,
THERE IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK , there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: FOR YOU ALL ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS AND IF YOU BE CHRISTS, THEN YOU ARE ABRAHAM'S SEED FOR YOU ARE ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS and IF YOU BE CHRISTS, THEN ARE YOU ABRAHAM'S SEED, AND HEIRS ACCORDING TO THE PROMISE.

links with.....

Romans 9
6,
FOR THEY ARE NOT ALL ISRAEL WHICH ARE OF ISRAEL,: NEITHER, BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SEED OF ABRAHAM, ARE THEY ALL CHILDREN : but in Isaac shall thy seed be called <Christ> That is, THEY WHICH ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE FLESH, THESE ARE NOT THE CHILDREN OF GOD: BUT THE CHILDREN OF THE PROMIS E <those who believe> ARE COUNTED FOR THE SEED

and again.....

Romans 2
28
, FOR HE IS NOT A JEW WHICH IS ONE OUTWARDLY; NEITHER IS THAT CIRCUMCISION, WHICH IS OUTWARDS IN THE FLESH: 29, BUT HE IS A JEW WHICH IS ONE INWARDLY; and CIRCUMCISION IS OF THE HEART, IN THE SPIRIT, AND NOT IN THE LETTER; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

If you are not a part of God's Israel circumcised in the heart by Faith you are not a part of the NEW Covenant...

Hebrews 8:10-12,
For this is the COVENANT that I will make with the house of ISRAEL after those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

If you are a BELIEVER and FOLLOWER of GOD'S WORD then you are a part of GOD'S Israel if you are still in your SINS and do not BELIEVE God's WORD then it is true you are NOT a part of God's ISRAEL.

4. Even Jews are not under the Law, when they believe in Christ
Already shown above anyone living a life in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN is guilty before GOD of breaking HIS LAW because SIN is the transgression of God's LAW. If you are STILL IN YOUR SINS then you are STILL "UNDER THE LAW" and need to seek God's forgiveness.

Romans 2
12, For AS MANY AS HAVE SINNED WITHOUT THE LAW SHALL ALSO PERISH WITHOUT THE LAW: and AS MANY AS HAVE SINNED UNDER THE LAW shall be judged by the law;

We should BELIEVE GOD'S WORD. Only God's Word is true. Only the BELIEVERS and FOLLOWERS of God's WORD are God's people. Those that do NOT BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD are NOT his followers because they are still in their SINS. It is SIN and UNBELIEF that will keep all those who practice it out of the KINGDOM of God.

In these times of IGNORANCE God winks at but when a KNOWLEDGE of the TRUTH is come calls all men everywhere to REPENT FOR THE KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at HAND.

Do you LOVE Jesus and hear His VOICE (Word)? God's sheep hear His voice and follow him who LOVES all because he is the GOOD Shepard and knows his sheep and his sheep hear him and follow him....

where do we get the idea that the Covenant Law is not really one covenant but lots of individual covenants, some of which are binding but not all of them?

"ceremonial law"
"moral law"
"penal law"
"priestly law"
"dietary law"

etc.

does this come from scripture?
where does scripture talk about "The Law" as though it's lots of different laws?

i can't answer "what is the purpose of the covenant" if i don't know which covenant you're asking about, that is, if you think they are not all one covenant, but many ((which separation of clauses of the contract into many different non-intersecting contracts i do not agree with))

NOW posthuman,

Are you now going to brush aside and ignore all the scriptures in post # 1956 linked, that already answer your question?

Who said they are all not part of the same Covenant?

How many commandments are in God's 10 commandments? (Exodus 34:28; Deuteronomy 4:13; 10:4)

The scriptures say there are two key areas of the Old Covenant and that is (1) GOD'S LAW (10 commandments) and the (2) Mosaic laws for remission of SIN as highlighted in the linked post already sent to you.

As shown by the scriptures in God's Word it is the Mosaic laws for remission of SIN that were temporary shadows pointing to Jesus and fulfilled in Him who LOVES all.

God's LAW (10 commandments) however is FOREVER and the standard of the Old and NEW Covenants and the Judgment to come and the KNOWLEDGE of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS (all scriptures provided already in post # 1956 linked.

Only the believers and followers of God's Word are his people. Those that practice SIN will NOT enter into the Kingdom of Heaven because they do not BELIEVE God's WORD.

this thread is 98 pages long, and no, i haven't read all the other 97 of them.

ok, so you are saying the things "
written on tablets of stone" are different than the rest of "the Law" given directly by God to command Israel ((because, Exodus 20, they asked that there be an intermediary instead of hearing it all for themselves directly from Him)) . . ?

so 2 Corinthians 3 -- what is Paul, being inspired by the Holy Spirit of God, talking about, a "
ministration of death" which is "written on tablets of stone" specifically given with glory through Moses?

what's that, specifically, and what does scripture say about it?
let's trust God, not man. :)
